Any inside backers we could trade for?

Darron Lee, for discussion only.

We see a lot of Ohio State college football on television in this area and this guy was a complete Ryan Shazier clone in college. Same size (6-1, 225-230), very fast and agile, can blitz and cover. Former 1st round draft pick but never seemed to make an impact with the Jets. Was it him or was it the Jets? Many players have seen their careers go into the Meadowlands toilet over the years with that organization.

The guy is 25, so still relatively young and he is an UFA so wouldn't cost a draft pick to bring him in.

I have no idea what happened to his pro career. Could be a head case, could be slow to learn or just doesn't want to put in the effort. I have no idea. But he has (or had) that same type of game as a Ryan Shazier or Devin Bush - an active, mobile, fast ILB who hits. And he's sitting at home so maybe worth a look. Sometimes being humbled without a job can clear the head if that was his issue.

Just a thought.

Definitely on my shortlist as well. He and Ogletree if for anything- depth.

By November 3rd, the Jets, Giant, Bengals, Washington Football Team, Vikings, Falcons and Jaguars might be willing to deal. These teams have but 1 win. They're season with another loss is over. At least I think so.

Translation, one of these teams might be willing to trade a linebacker better than what we have. While I wish Bush a speedy recovery, he really was not they type of season that I hoped for.

Trade....trade...trade. As Chip said, thinking you have cap room to trade for someone who will count more $ on the cap isn’t feasible. We have two pure ILB on the roster, plus a $backer for dime coverage.

Your last comment isn’t in English, so to clarify, your translation is Bush wasn’t having a solid season? He was leading the team in tackles. Had 5 tackles and .5 sack before leaving in the 2nd Qtr. we’ve barely finished a 1/4 of the season..and you imply upheld wasn’t performing? Get out of here.

And sure any team can offer up a stud LB in a trade, but we are not going to absorb a large salary on a player who won’t replace Bush next year (barring he comes back 100%). We aren’t stupid like some other front offices that do. Another thing, there isn’t a FA out there that is better than what we have and knows the system.

Lee was put on 4 game suspension on September 10th this year. Substance abuse policy. I believe he had a prior PED offense with the Jets.

send a 6th to the Jets for Avery Williamson. He's a FA after this year, and it'd be highly unlikely the Jets resign him. Thus, they get something for nothing. His cap hit this year is $4.75 mil, though I'm not sure how that would apply in a trade.

28 years old, 7 years in the league, plays ILB.

Trade for one now for almost any price. This may be the best opportunity for a Super Bowl run before we start bleeding free agents next year.

NO need to panick, as we have rostered players who can step right in. I'm up for looking / window shopping but also realize the FARM isn't for SALE.

Salute the nation

if you want veteran depth, bring in Ogletree in for a look. Cost us no pick and should be at a good price for 2/3rd of a season.

I think we can work something out for Zach Cunningham...

Number 2 next year and a 4th the next?

I like the talent...only 25 years old also..

LJ Fort would be a nice option right about now...

Oh wait..

I thought Spillane was the reason they could let Fort walk ? There isn't anyone out there I would want to trade even for over the three we have on the roster now, let alone spend more money on.

I think Spillane has some upside. The positive was his gap discipline and he actually wraps up to tackle vs trying to just hit. He’s not quick like Bush but may do the job. I didn’t pay attention to his coverage ability and can’t comment on it. I wouldn’t trade for another LB. but- picking up a free agent or someone from someone’s practice squad for depth shouldn’t be out of the picture and should be considered.

How about Christian Kuntz....bring back the KuntZ!
That Kuntz really could flow to the balls.

I hear what a lot of you are saying, I just don't want to give up any draft capital for a maybe player that we probably wouldn't be able to afford anyways.

And might take at least two weeks to get the playbook together, with no bye week available

High end draft picks should not be moved... but there might be a decent guy getting dumped for a very low rounder

Low round picks have a slim chance of ever being anything... yeah there are some deep drafts where fifth through sevenths matter... but most of tge time they are crapshoots at best...

If it presents itself you do it, like minkah only not so pricey...

The other thing is in this nfl players force themselves into trades to contenders. Its getting more like hockey... you just probably saw it with McClendon to Tampa...

I still think we are unlikely to trade, but you don’t close that window before exploring it

I don’t see any outside additions coming. Rather, I see somebody like Deon Cain promoted as the 6th receiver taking bush spot when he moves to IR.
Inactive in game days, but UG3 taking that helmet.

What is the point of trading a draft pick for a guy who is basically a rental? We have enough cap issues as is and Bush should be OK next year. Only way I would do that is if our current MLBs really stink in the next couple games. I would give our current guys a fighting chance before giving up future stock We have a lot of positions that will need addressed in the draft

LJ Fort couldn't cover his grandmother. That's why the Steelers let him go.

They should give Spillane a chance; if he can't handle passing downs, put Marcus Allen in for those.

A. Most late round picks never make a roster
B. If they trade for a guy who is a ufa after the season there is no cap penalty past this year
C. They have to fill Bush’s roster spot somehow... you find the best possible avenue... if thats a trade you do it. And frankly if you think you have ilb covered in house then you add another position and if there is a cheap option in a trade You do what you have to to improve this team right now... they are 5-0 With a hof QB On the downturn of his career and a seemingly stacked team... a sixth, fifth or even fourth rounder is far to low value to worry about losing one for a player that helps us now...

The Pittsburgh Steelers continued their due diligence when it comes to making the most of their roster with the best possible players. On Monday, the Steelers brought in two players for workouts in linebacker Ray Wilborn and punter Jordan Berry. This per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle:

Wilborn spent training camp with the Atlanta Falcons after going undrafted in the 2020 NFL draft out of Ball State. In his two years at Ball State, Wilborn had 166 tackles, three sacks, four interceptions, eight passes defensed, and two forced fumbles.

Henry is going to truck stick Spillane. I hope Spillane can pop him a few times to back him off.
