And that ladies and gentlemen, is life after Ben Roethlisberger

Everybody hates him, but Kordell Stewart still played a serviceable game. Sure, he was mediocre, but he was still head and shoulders over what we have currently.

My memory must be jaded then. Even after looking back on his highlights I still feel that MR has light years more potential to be our QB than Stewart ever had.

Slash was electric - the QB was prone to the interception. MR is still an unknown. But has MR shown more than Stewart? I don't think so...

Slash was electric because he was a serious threat running the ball. As a passer, he was inconsistent. I was one of the people that felt he could move to WR and had a helluva career. I don't fault him for chasing his dream to QB though. But, I agree, he hasn't exceeded Stewart and I am not sure that he ever will. Depends on if the game ever slows down enough for him to see the field better. I saw some flash of hope yesterday, but that was small slice of time. Hope he can go against the rats so we can see a full 4Q in a pressure game.

I didnt say shown more but shown more potential. Slash was electric but not suited for our offense at all. It was a losing battle from the start.

I so wanted him to switch to WR with a gimmick QB play here and there. It could've been the spark to number 5.

For me the best path to a potential Super Bowl next year is to bring on a vet QB that can at least not lose games for you to back up Ben. Even if Ben can't get up to speed next year with the defense and a solid vet QB the team will win games. Then try to keep Dupree and Hargrave to keep the defense in tact.

That's why I started the thread a couple weeks ago saying the QBs sucked, everyone blames Fichtner, the Oline, WRs, etc. Yes they have all had their ****** moments, but at some you need your QB to make tough throws, to back a defense off. Neither QB can do that consistently.
There were quite a few people that were happy Ben was hurt and Mason came in, saying this is Mason's team, time to move on. Where are those idiots now?

More potential? Based on what that benching? Kordell had over 20 TDs in his first year starting and wasn't benched. The team was 11 and 5 that year. His first year as slash his completion percentage was over 70 percent. Kordell was suited for the O just simply should have stayed as slash. Rudolph has did nothing to promote confidence. I saw both play and on the field early Kordell brought excitement as in oh man what will he do next. Rudolph has brought oh no he is back in again thoughts. Seriously there is no comparison not even a little bit.

I see I struck a nerve. Kordell was an agonizing "project" from one year to the next. Flashes of brilliance mixed with the worst accuracy for a starting QB. Why the Steelers were so stubborn to not face the facts and move on from him was an ongoing mystery. He wasnt the guy. It was painfully clear that he wasnt the guy. He wasnt promising in my opinion from very early on. I'm not huge on stats although I have been looking back more.

No nerve struck just disagree with you. Fans tend to have short memories of the good things he brought to the table. Funny you speak of accuracy Mason is anything but. WRs constantly have to adjust to his throws. At least Kordell had flashes. Ol Rudy has shown little to nothing. Again a 11 and 5 record is promising early on or not? What is Rudolphs win loss games he was involved in is what .500? Talk about not promising.

I wanted Kordell to succeed. I really did. 11-5 didn't get us anywhere.

People wanted TB to quit, get out of town, etc. I didnt want that. He had it.

Ben has the distinction of being ready to go from the start. It's a grand distinction indeed. No one will measure up in my opinion.

If Lynch is dressing, that means Rudolph's season is over.

Radio reporting that Rudolph is out and may need surgery.

Hopefully they are giving Lynch at least a few reps with the 1st team. If Duck sucks in the 1st half again, you have to pull him again as well. Lynch has the physical tools to make all of the NFL throws. This is just another example of why we should always have a QB coach for our developmental guys. It would have benefited Dobbs, Rudolph, Duck and Lynch tremendously.
