According to Steelers Beat writer Easy Ed Bouchette, he says "thats all folks"

This is honestly what I feel happens. Steelers allow Tomlin to ride out the next two years underperforming. Then decide not to renew his contract. So he will be a lame duck coach for one year.

He’s signed thru 2020 season. If what you’re saying let this guy continue to coach and under perform which means the team under performs for two more years, then we will have allowed Bens’ final years to slip away. No thank you!

if we can get a faster cb than coty and one that once in a while can get some intc and if Marcus Allen or a fa S can help us get some intc or more passes batted and if Dupree can play like he did his rookie year that if we pick up player option. Plus a vet and ola adding in nickel dime sets, if you replace bostic with with a playmaking mlb like bush you have the range and a fa CB and 1 DL added and via the draft 2 DB's and a MLB the pieces are there since this was the year we played the least zone. coty neds to upgraded he is william gay smart but not fast and without the playmaking ability (6 pick sixes)

I finally saw in the last 3 games some 4-3 formations where watt and Hargrave were at DE with Tyson or McCullers at NG, its clear McCullers sucks and give up on him. either resign Tyson or get a guy like wilkerson on 1 year prove it deal as mo can play both dt and de.

Tomlin 100 percent wants to keep Butler around, cause he's an easy fall guy for Tomlin when the defense sucks once again.
It'll be up to upper management to remove Butler. I think they know Tomlin will keep his hands on the defense no matter what so whats the point of even making a change, the defense will continue down a path of pure garbage.

The only logical reason to keep Butler, and the only reason I'd stay if I was Butler, is if Shades has been pretty much running and ******* up the defense and Butler says he can do better next year if Shades remains hands-off and leaves him alone.

Butler and Tomlin calling the defense, trying to put square peg players in round holes. These two jokers remain. The special team's coach Danny Smith must be the Ringo Starr of the bunch. He's not very good, but okay he makes them laugh.

I used to laugh at Ed Rooney the incompetent principal from the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off. In fact, he still cracks me up. But his long lost cousin Art Rooney II is giving him a run for his money.

The Steelers need a big nose tackle and an aggressive one at that to make their defense work.

The whole concept is to have a NT that requires a double team to free up the playmakers to pull off their "exotic" blitzes.

I agree with Coach. It's like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Although I do agree with you, that we need another safety.
I don't think I'm giving up on Burns just yet. He had a bad season. Kid needs some confidence

Dead Grandmother?

Ok but there are stats and then there is
Cleveland- collapse, game tying drive. Should have been game losing drive.
KC- offense scored a ton. Still lost
Chargers- Collapse
Oak-Game losing drive
Saints-Game losing drive
Plus they had like 4 or 5 turnovers in the last 6 games. There is no bright side. The defense sucks and needs changes. Big changes. Not just Peezy.

This is why I think they kept Butler. And why I also think Tomlin is skating by. They look at those games and think "If just one thing goes right we're in the playoffs". One FG, one stop, just one off side that wasn't called ETC.... they've convinced themselves that a tweak here and there will fix everything. It isn't the coaches fault it's just bad lucky, bad officiating, bad kicker and bad timing. Nothing wrong with the coaching staff, defense or scheme.

You had 6 unique "ifs" in that. If my aunt had balls...

And Vader, I'm still trying to figure out who **** the bed on holding on to and using a kicker with a mid-level groin pull all season. SOMEBODY d's that up right proper.

We better hold onto AB and bring in 3 other WRs, Ben mght have to pass for 7,000 yards.

Now all yall beginning to understand what i been preaching

The defense will continue to fail no matter what "schemes" they run

Steelers special teams finished nearly if not dead last in the league. They're penalized constantly costing valuable yards or giving opponents yards after play. And now it's been rumored Bozwell had been playing with some type of "groin injury"?? How does a coach allow an injued player to continue failing while injured?
"Chewy" Smith would be fired in the corporate or blue collar world with those results. How does Smith even get to keep his job?

It doesn't help that we some players who just don't get it. Dupree, and Burns are not very, well you know. Perhaps drafting smarter players might help.

So just listening to Aditi Kinkhabwala and she now thinks there could be another firing but wouldn't go out on the limb and say who she thought it would be. She did say something very telling though; that the team needs to hire a change management specialist to help Tomlin in his approach with dealing with the team and, and that she just spent a week in Baltimore and how different the approach was. That what she noticed is that the the coaches are teachers constantly teaching and coaching up the players, but didn't get the feeling she felt that way with our coaches. One other telling thing, she said we have the most talent of any team and its a shame since she thought we should be hoisting the trophy in February. Oh well Aditi, we all know how that **** goes with this organization.Art II needs to wake the **** up if he wants this team to achieve their full potential.

This post is useless without pictures. :hitit:

Aditi is definitely a HIT, ask DHB as I think he was banging her in return for "inside-her" information....................................................

You'll get no argument from me on any of this. My problem is that I desperately feel the need to try and guess wtf the front office is thinking for some reason. I know it's pointless, I just love a good mystery.

The decision to keep Danny Smith is egregious. Special teams really were the worst, hands down.

No idea. Not sure if Boz told anyone or if the STs coach knew or if Tomlin knew. Who knows with this mess of a team.

Yep, and groin pull or no groin pull he was missing kicks, should've been replaced alot earlier.

It was reported during a chat session (PG or DKSports) that Boz injured it during field warm up before the NOLA game. Played through it, then during practice the following week couldn’t go and had the MRI.

Maybe management believes Butler is getting the most out of the personnel the Steelers currently have. We didn't really have a legit
replacement for Shazier or a second starting CB in 2018. Had a rookie playing SS.

They had an entire off season to replace both, and the best they could do was Bostic??? I think Fort would've been a better fit. They didn't try to replace Burns because they thought he was a starter.
If Butler coached under Lebeau, why does this defense not resemble that at all?
We scored 42 points and 500 yards offense vs the Jags and the #1 defense in the NFL last season, the OC was fired(not that I had an issue with that), but we gave up 45 to a Blake Bortles led offense. Butler stays.
This year we give up 5 4th quarter leads, 4 times allowing the opponent to score 14 or more points in the 4th, but so far Butler stays????
The only logical explanation is that Tomlin is basically running the D, as a matter of fact he pretty much said so himself when he said he was late getting the signal in on a play.

Well whoever we hire for the current open positions, they better be a minority or it’ll look bad. Can’t believe all the calls I’ve heard on mad dog radio regarding the lack of black coaches in the NFL and college.

Can white people demand for more white players in the NFL and NBA? It doesn’t matter if there the better player or not, just give them the job.

I just don’t get it..

Double Standard is rearing its ugly head. It SHOULD be about the best candidate for the job as far as coaches are concerned and not be based on ones' color. My desire is to hire that coach based on potential, experience, creativeness, the ability to manage 53 men and all of their personalities and I don't give a damn what the color of his skin is if he can give me what I listed above. The same goes with firing a coach, color doesn't enter into the equation. Its about results and if the results are not positive, black or white, then the owners have every right to make changes. There have been many white coaches terminated over the years in the NFL because owners expected better results. It just so happen 2018 saw several black coaches terminated but don't believe there's any conspiracy to fire black coaches, thats ridiculous. Its about winning and these owners want to win now.

Here's a serious question about Tomlin. Aside from OL which is clearly Munchak's doing, what player in the Tomlin Era was drafted and then developed into a much better player than when he entered the league?

It seems there is not much player development under Tomlin. The steelers draft and if they hit on a good player like Watt or Juju then they have a good player. If they get a subpar or mediocre producer or raw prospect like Dupree or Burns, then they just don't seem to get much better.

Antonio Brown? He was a 6th rounder so he barely played as a rookie but in season 2 he had 1100 yards. AB was good immediately due to his elite quickness and hands. To this day though, he's a poor route runner. Ben is a QB that like to improvise so it works. Obviously AB is a much better player now. Everybody gets better with experience. Was he well coached though? Nobody taught him to run routes.

Shazier? He made plays but missed a bunch too. He was good, but with his talents, he should have been great, a real gamechanger.

Who else? Certainly no DB has developed. Mike Hilton seemed like maybe that guy but he seems to have plateaued as a solid but not great player.

Take a look at 2 guys from the same school, same position, same draft. Bud Dupree and Za'Darius Smith. Dupree has much more physical ability and was a 1st rounder. Smith was a 4th rounder by the Ravens. Fast forward a few years and Smith is a much better player than Dupree.

This is clearly what's going on and firing Butler will make zero difference. CMT will have to go for the D to change.

Ouch! Thats troubling! I think like many here that Tomlin talked himself into the head coaching job 12 seasons ago because that is what he does best. The Rooney's were taken back, enamored, wowed by the way he presented himself, and he happened to be a minority, when in fact in all seriousness, Whisenhut was the better, much more experienced candidate. Tomlin came with one, only one year as a defensive coordinator where his Vikings defense was at the bottom of the league and also had experience with DB's at Tampa.
Tomlin is not a teacher therefore no, he's not known for developing players or coaching them up. He's a talker, silver tongue artist, carnival barker, loaded with clever speak skirting around pertinent questions much too often at his weekly pressers, chest bumper who has poor management skills, not very good at keeping 53 men focused, much too often out coached and lacks the ability to adjust. Thats who he is.
