If Dallas was a good team their FGs would have been TDs. And we lose. We won the TO battle. If we lose it we lose the game. I am not certain the plays Dallas made on our FG plays were legal. Maybe they were. Maybe flags should have be thrown. ST almost cost us the game for sure. A win is a win which is a win though of course. Time to move onto the next team in our schedule.
Well....anybody that didn't see this coming needs to take them rose colored glasses off. It was not just this game, it is a pattern like I exampled in a previous thread. Yes coach, we were out coached and Tomlin admitted to that post game but it was a game plan problem and a coaching staff that failed to adjust quickly enough to stop the bleeding. Playing down to an opponent is SOP for Tomlin, he must think that steamrolling an opponent is illegal because I can;t recall it ever happening. ( maybe it has....but not likely )

We played terrible teams this year, and had our shares of trouble. Vs a better team that doesn't have Lamar Jackson or a QB picked up on the streets at quarterback, it's a loss. Heck it was almost a loss yesterday to a 2-6 really bad team thanks in part to Tomlin's decisions.

You had 4th and 1, Dallas out of TOs and 43 seconds on the clock.
A first down is the only sure victory. First down and game is in victory formation
Kick a FG you are up by 8, but victory still is not assured.
Tomlin did what he usually does as a game manager, win the game with a first down. My only problem was the call, but I did not want any type of run whatsoever. A failed 1st down stops the clock, so Ben should have been in a spread for a pass. Line up tight. Motion to a spread, get Ebron or JuJu on a LB, boom, first down.
Honestly though, I had zero fear of that offense making up 84 yards and scoring a TD in 43sec. You have to factor in failure when going for it on 4th down. Know what you are giving up, and kicking off after a made FG would have netted them at least 10yds of field position, since we weren't kicking to that returner anymore.
Their special teams killed us, and was the only reason why this game was close. Worst case scenario would have been seeing them return a blocked figgie for a win...

With the Steelers knowing this has happened, they would adjust. Boswell is money inside 40 yards. As a beat writer put it, Tomlin lived in his fears and it almost cost him. The chances of it getting blocked and returned for a touchdown are very slim. That hardly ever happens. You'd have a better chance of drawing Dallas offsides. You go up 8 points. DUH.

We played good teams and beat them. You want to keep discrediting the team for who they play or who they struggled against. It happens to every team. Again this year they are winning the games they didn't in the past.

Linebackers have to cover receivers that is just part of the deal. If a running back is in the game you cannot sit in Dime. Those DB's cannot tackle a guy like Zeke or even their two. It was a massive loss in Bush, even though he wasn't producing splash plays to the point he was hurt. He was the guy you could put in coverage and still rally to tackle a running back. Spillane has played admirably, but the cracks are starting to show. They have been gashed in the run the last two weeks. Strangely, Spillane has shown up in pass more than run which is kinda opposite what I expected. I think we might start to see the Williamson guy from the Jets soon.

I guess my main argument about worrying about missing the short kick (in this day of analytics) would be, what are the chances we'd miss 3 XPs in one game? . or at least XP length FGs

We need an explanation for this....are we to believe 1) this was a rule violation that was NOT enforced or 2) we had no answer for this? I can live with this decision if it was #1. If it’s # 2, shame on Danny and the ST unit. I hated this decision to not go up by 8. Unless we get a good reason, it was the wrong decision. So glad it worked out.

We expect way to much.. This was the Steelers third road game and against a team hungry and tired of being run down.. just came off two highly emotional games and one against our biggest rival. the percentage of teams playing the third game is like 32 nd 64 as mention by the Steeler radio post game. We all were highly emotional in yesterdays game but the Steelers did what it took to win. I even give Tomlin post game comments an applause. They all recognize the game was not even close to what they expect as well.
Given a choice between a lucky win, or great execution and still losing, which would you choose?
