A lucky win. Outcoached.

I was more upset with Fichtners 4th down play call......Run Wide Left??

Where was Mongo.

Shortest distance was straight ahead.

Mongo made a big play earlier.

exactly if they are not going to run it up the gut....I would rather see misdirection and have a wr take it around the end

I also saw too many linebackers trying to cover WR's. Why?

No more deep throws to Johnson, he doesn't convert them.

Some day we'll see screens and play action.

you see LBs in coverage because the other team schemes to get those matchups...just as the Steelers do. Yeah it sucks, but it is not just the Steelers who do this ****.

The offensive game plan out of the gate was terrible as always. Fitchner is incredibly bad in this area. At least under Haley we had good first drives.

Defensively it was a disappointment. Though, not being able to stop the run can throw a wrench in things.

Special teams was atrocious. Dallas saw something about splitting the gap off the center as they did it every attempt. The short kickoff was a bad call after Dallas had already burned the Steelers with some trickery earlier. In fact, Tomlin should have taken the penalty on the XP and just had Boswell kick it for a touchback rather than trying to get too cute taking the short field and trying a short kick.

I don’t care about the idiot decision to pass on the late chip shot fg

I want to know why our offense struggles until we go spread no huddle

Something needs changed dramatically there

Tomlin was asked about the FG gaffes, and the decision to go for it late in the 4th. It appears there was discussion/disagreement with officials not calling jumping over the LS gaps, which is illegal. No doubt, an inquiry to the league office will be made. Next week a different crew will adjudicate the action differently, of course.

I agree with Dave....Mongo lead block up the middle.

. However, those who know he game can easily tell a wrong route for example or a blown coverage for example.

Unless you have their specific formula for evaluating players, your really not in position to say much of anything,

wait, youre the one who prfesses to know the game.. Enligten us all !

wait, youre the one who prfesses to know the game.. Enligten us all !

1 ) Don't ask your linebackers to cover WR's.

2 ) Don't run Conner Wide, thats not a play he is good at.

3 ) Try play action once in a while, Ebron can surely beat his man over the middle.

4 ) A screen to slow down the pass rush could be a big play for us...We never call it.

5 ) Take time outs away from Tomlin he blows them too often.

6 ) Also take red flag calls away from him too.

Pop Warner stuff if you watch the Steelers.

Any questions on the above? Good Night

It is a good night

they won.

1 ) Don't ask your linebackers to cover WR's. teams scheme to get this matchup,,,even the Steelers do it

2 ) Don't run Conner Wide, thats not a play he is good at. he can run wide given decent blocking, he didn't get that today

3 ) Try play action once in a while, Ebron can surely beat his man over the middle. 1 right..play action would be nice

4 ) A screen to slow down the pass rush could be a big play for us...We never call it. 2 not sure why they don't try it more often..other than WR screens

5 ) Take time outs away from Tomlin he blows them too often. bullshit....most of the time he is fine

6 ) Also take red flag calls away from him too.watch other teams...he is not as bad as most of them

Pop Warner stuff if you watch the Steelers.

you couldn't coach a pop warner team to a victory

I'm very critical of this coaching staff but you are completely wrong. They had an issue on field goal with the dude leaping the snap that needs to be corrected. Too me if you even touch him that is an illegal act. On the contrary the Cowboys stacked the inside gaps and the Steelers could not get edge. The Steelers answer in the second half:
5R stack. Created a running game with bubble screen threat. If the Cowboys threatened blitz they were going bubble and the ****** little DB's would have had to tackle Juju, Claypool or if they block it up slick Diontae Johnson. Tell me when that type of adjustment was made n the past. BLAME CANADA. No thank Canada, cause there is no way that came from Fichtner.

1 ) Yes if you have a speedy coverage baker, that is NOT Williams or Watt, got it?

2 ) Conner is too slow to run wide. Its a bad play call. Are you watching the games?

3 and 4 ) Pat yourself on the back, you've got that right!

5 ) The early TO cost us, we got lucky with a 59 yard kick. Do you understand how important time outs are at the end of the half? We could have had 3 more plays if we call time outs correctly. SMH.

6 ) Um, lately over the past 20 red flag he has been terrible. Tomlin doe snot understand how the ref's call the game, that is his biggest problem. Why burn a tine out when you have no chance?

At least Slash knows the deal that I presented. NIGHT!

No LB in the league can cover Claypool...but we had that match up earlier this season

Conner has broken many runs wide, do you really watch the games (we know you have said in the past you don't)

sometimes burning a TO on defense is necessary....yes it would be nice to have later, but if burning one allows you to fix something that could result in a huge play it is worth it

watch other teams challenges....most of the league is terrible at it

you are just a tool who thinks he knows everything....

right before the TO, there was clear problem with the defensive personnel package and play call. Someone with tape access can validate, but I saw Micky S run as if going off the field. One person came in then two ran off then MS ran back on. Players were looking around for the call. Had Dallas got the play off, good chance it would have been a big one because something wrong with the D. Without field tape I can't confirm, but I have a feeling they had too many men on the field and had no choice to call it. I am often cynical of HCMT' strategic use of time outs, but I don't think that was a strategic blunder. That was a tactical response to a bad player package on the field. Generally, that is not the HC's fault, but the players and/or assistance for not getting the right package out there.

He didn't say that in his post game conference. He said on the blocked field goal it was too easy the guy was standing on two feet in the backfield. They need to make corrections. That was all that come out of that.

I believe the NFL has two rules covering the "jump over the long snapper" thing. First, cannot line up over the long snapper, which the Dallas guy did 4 times. Second, the leaping over blockers was banned in 2017.

https://www.footballzebras.com/2017/09/leaping-no-longer-allowed-field-goals/

I guess the reffing crew time traveled from 2016 and was unaware of the rule change.

If the crew calls it the first time, Boswell re-kicks the first extra point, makes the second, the Steelers don't need to go for two and Boswell kicks that extra point and then kicks the field goal at the end, the game ends 30-19 Steelers and we have fewer complaints about the game.

The leaping **** cost the team 6 points.

Scoreboard baby...Tomlin & his Steelers are 8-0

Dallas' coaching staff did a nice job on second and long and third downs that were under seven yards etc., they exploited the Steelers aggressive pass rush by giving our out side linebackers an outside lane and blocking down on our interior linemen. They gained allot of yards rushing the ball between that huge opening and I'm sure other teams took notice.

TheSteelers adjusted in the fourth quarter and basically told Gilbert to throw. Not happy with Bush being out, this is why they drafted him. He's not a great cover ILB but he plugs holes even if its after one to four yards and sideline to sideline vs. the run.

Yes and I hope you learned something.

I learned you are a whiney sniveling ***** with an on going agenda even when the team sets a franchise record for consecutive wins to start a season,

congrats.

Congrats private numb nuts you been at for years. You finally learned this?

It was a lucky win, and Dallas helped us big time with stupid penalties. I am very happy the Steelers are 8-0.

I suggest you further your leaning by being in the game day thread more often, here you'll see wha't going on.

Or you can ask me questions and I'll be happy to help you as I think you are a special case.

If you haven't noticed, I have said very little negatively speaking this season.

Even Tomlin sees.

1) Yes, there are stupid coaches. We had that match up ( LB on a WR ) once this season; in this game the opponent had it several times.

2 ) Conner when he runs wide, he does not get much unless he has excellent blocking where he isn't touched. Just stop already, he's not good at running wide.

3 ) It was early in the game. Explain to be why we burned a time out vs. a QB off the streets? This is a mistake Tomlin makes often.

4 ) I don't care. If you think a reversal is unlikely, save your time out. I get it the way the refs will call it 75% of the time sitting on my couch. Tomlin has won 8 of 27 challenges or the past 5 seasons. 29.6% correct. Coollie this sucks.

Sorry Coolie your brain is clearly frozen. Stop defending Tomlin's stupidity just because once in a while another team does it. Tomlin makes these type of mistakes often.

Sure, Boswell would miss a kick inside the 40 yard line, and the other team with us knowing they need a block would take it to the house. Highly unlikely. A dumb call. Unless your kicker is injured, you go up 8 points. We almost lost because of it.

No, I don't know every thing, justly clearly more than you and I know enough to say the moment after hat was a bad call.
