5th reception...this week's "scandal" on 93.7 The Fan?

Some would say that anybody who cares about some obscure record that nobody had ever heard of up until two weeks ago and was previously held by Laverneous Coles, needs to get a life.

Lol again you missed the point ....one more person on the ignore list

We have the crap fest about ABs stat catch because there is so little to talk about with the team. Think about what has been going on on the field and off the field of late. The steelers are not looking good, they do not seem to be ready to break out and go on a big win streak, They have not been beat in a close game that was a battle between powerhouse teams this year. We have had all those things in the past where even the losses were close games and we would attribute the outcome to a fluke play or a great play by the other team. Sometimes it would be a blown call by the Zebras, remember the year we had 6 apologies from the league?

The guys that have the air time to fill with talk about the steelers are really hurting of late so you just get the crap fest broadcasts. Look how much shorter agree to disagree and chalk talk have become. The entire thing about parity and all the non contact rules have turned the games into a yawn fest. I just wonder if all these guys that plan and practice all their little celebrations might not be better served by practicing their plays a bit more. I am getting tired of the celebrations after every damn play, If the league wanted to hit a personal foul for all that bullshit I would be fine with that one.

To me ABs record has everything to do with what's going on with the team. After struggling to beat Jacksonville a week after losing to Tampa Bay, the focus at the end of the game was on some obscure personal record. It would have made just as much sense to me if they had tried to at least score because they weren't satisfied with how they played.

Cars kill more.

No, Bumpers kill more... :P

I'm honestly surprised the anti-Tomlin faction doesn't use this instance to support bad decision making. Putting a useless statistic ahead of the potential to seal a game outright, is irresponsible coaching and something I wouldn't attempt to defend. Winning is the only thing that matters, and if the game situation assures that win, you take it EVERY time.

I think fans feel they are being anti-AB instead of anti-Tomlin if they have a problem with it.

It is you who is missing the larger point here, which is the success of the Steelers. You wouldn't be "GLAD" if somehow that pass fell incomplete. Had that happened, what was the plan then? Try and force feed Brown again on second down? Or, fearing yet another clock stoppage, run the ball twice up the middle for nothing? Then what? Kick a 50+ yard field goal to ice the game, or punt it back to Jacksonville with 30 seconds still left?

I immediately thought it was a ridiculous decision at the time, and absolutely not just something to "***** and MOAN" about. When you can kneel on the ball and win the game, you do it. END OF STORY.

Topped you also missed the point. The entire board has turned into nothing but bitching and moaning and complaining that's why a lot of good people don't post here anymore. That is what my point was!!!

Fair enough.

My point is that the people who are disagreeing (aka bitching) about the choice to throw the ball to Brown actually have a legitimate argument, and while there might be a lot of unnecessary in-fighting elsewhere around here, this thread isn't a good example.

But of all things that get bitched about this is a lot more valid than say, Archer not yet producing five games into his career, This was a violation of basic football 101 rules, the NFL doesn't give you that luxury. **** happens. Tomlin has suggested he will do it again iunder similar circumstances. If he does and it goes wrong, the Steelers won't only lose a game, they will be the laughing stock of the sports world. Is an obscure record really worth it?

Ed Bouchette posed an interesting question. Heath Miller has his own streak of at least one catch in the last 93 games in which he has played. If it comes down to prolonging these streaks, which one takes precedent? Heath is a hard worker too ya know? Sounds like a good reason not to get caught up in this type of nonsense.

Well that was just inflammatory. Ignore list for you!!

Couldn't have said it any better. It's just like Ben desperately gunning for a meaningless Week 17 win in 2012 so he'd remain without a "losing" season. Personal bullshit means too much to this team.
