5th reception...this week's "scandal" on 93.7 The Fan?

If we continue to feed AB we don't have to be worried about being in the position to lose.

It's not inconceivable teams will scheme to take AB out if the game and getting him 5 and 50 will be a challenge. It shouldn't take priority over what is best for the team and getting the win.

It just troubles me that not only was Ben somehow aware that AB had only 4 receptions, but that he was also concerned about it given the fact the offense had just scored 10 points vs. the worst team in the NFL.

Let teams scheme. AB has been double teamed in every game and he still gets open. Just watch him on a play. He keeps going because he knows Ben buys time. AB never stops trying to find the open spot. He learned a lot from Mr. Hines Ward.

This is 21 straight games he's done this in. You think teams haven't been scheming to try and take AB away? Seriously???

Yup, like bitching and crying to you're QB for one more catch to pad a meaningless stat.

He didn't ***** or cry to Ben. BEN went to the coaches and lobbied to give him the pass.

I can think of three targets he had where he had three defenders around him, one of which he caught but was out of bounds, another in the EZ where Ben waited a split second too late to throw it, and another where the the LB made a great read and play on the ball. It's not like Brown was running free against them, they did a good job of limiting his opportunities. And Brown STILL made some great catches, like the 30 yarder on third down where he out jumped the CB.

.

He only have 4 against the Jags before they made it a point to get him his 5th. How could that have been lost on you, seriously???

Those additional catches for AB that extend his streak may contribute greatly to bonuses written in his contract, more money.....just saying.

And those 4 were pretty big catches, so why not reward the hardest working guy on the team? But going with your logic, it was the Jags who finally figured out, after 20 games and 15 different opponents, how to stop AB? They were the first team to try and scheme against him and this will all of a sudden become a trend? Did you miss all of last year?

so why doesn't AB get those catches earlier in the game so this *** wipe thread doesn't have a chance to contaminate the forum?

This is kind of like the guns don't kill people, people kill people thing. The board/threads themselves become whatever the posters make them. Besides, I'm sure he's not all that concerned about anything said in this place.

there'd have been another thread of equally retardedness to take it's place.

And how often have many of us said, myself included, that the offense can't take their foot off the gas? Hell, I wish they'd have put up another 7. No lead is safe with this defense, I don't care if they're up 27 with 30 seconds left. You've got to keep trying to score until the clock is all goose eggs.

You're wrong. Bullets kill people!! ;)

Just so the out-of-towners know, this topic about the 5th reception was still raging today on local radio.
Especially during the 10am - 2pm show on 93.7 The Fan hosted by Andrew Filliponni (co-host Ron Cook had day off)
Filliponni kept trying to stir the **** with this topic all show.

He must have been really bored with no Pirates season because his other great topic was...could Ben have played for the University of Pittsburgh!

Ben is on with Cook & Filliponni every Tuesday at 11am, The Ben Roethlisberger Show.
Today Filliponni asked Ben if he was ever recruited by the University of Pittsburgh.
Ben said yes but that he chose Miami University (OH) because they guaranteed he would play QB (some other schools were still talking WR at that time).
So Filliponni spent a large portion of the rest of the show speculating about what would have happened if Ben went to Pitt.

I missed that part. Radio wasn't coming in good at work. If Ben went to Pitt he never would have ended up with the Steelers because they're allergic to drafting Pitt players no matter how good they are. $0.02.

I am GLAD they allowed AB to get the stat ... you complain about everything these days, no wonder the original members have all disappeared .. this is not a Football BB anymore it is a ***** and MOAN board .. you guys need to get a life ..

I think he was trying to make a point about how Pitt's fortunes would have changed if Ben went
(He was on a "Pitt has sucked for thirty years kick" that day)

He was trying to say, in his convoluted style, that Pitt could have become a quarterback factory, that Ben could have jump started a succession of high quality QB recruits to Pitt.
(I know, dumb topic but remember we're dealing with a neophyte know-it-all radio host)

Well yeah, because they ran Joe Flacco off and kept Tyler Palko (who in fairness was a pretty good college QB but never amounted to much in the pros).

Wasn't Palko's dad a BIG Golden panther member -- the problem with Pitt is that they are controlled by that organization ..

I have no idea but his dad is one of the top high school head coaches in the state.

Some would say that anybody who cares about some obscure record that nobody had ever heard of up until two weeks ago and was previously held by Laverneous Coles, needs to get a life.
