2016 Draft - CB Evaluations

Remember, my original post was 6 weeks before the draft.

According to my list it was only 6 drafted before we picked in round 2. I wasn't counting Jalen Ramsey as a cornerback. Not on this list.

The only ones drafted before pick #58 were Hargreaves, Apple, Jackson, Burns, McKensie and Howard, which were almost exactly how I had them ranked except for Robinson (who only played minimally as a freshman, kicked off his team and had a boat load of off-field issues).

And note I watched Sean Davis the day after this and raved about him (this was back when he was a project 5-6th round pick by NFL Draft Scouts - he ended up as a 2nd round projection by them 4 weeks later). And I mentioned Davis would look very good in the eyes of Tombert (which he did).

Thanks. I just feel certain positions are in demand, and because every team needs 2-3 good corners, teams reach for them early. Obtaining good ones in free agency is very costly!

QB, Pass Rusher, DB's...seem like the best way to win a super bowl today. WR and RB, not so much.

On Sean Davis, he shot up the charts after workouts. Sorry to say I think he is a very Al Davis like draft pick. A size and speed guy, who has some issues in coverage.

I get the strategy and thinking behind the Burns and Daivs pick, but think each man was over drafted, which is why the trade down was a no-brainer.

I'm sticking to my guns on Billings, who went in round 4. He showed both run defense, range and pass rushing /gap shooting ability on film!

Something must have been up with Billings ( character issues, or a medical ) because he was top 50 type of pick. Colbert said they wanted to trade up a bit, but didn't have the ammunition as the 5th and 6th round picks were already gone.
