It was probably the woman refs fault - but he had to take the fall
 
According to CBS the side judge in charge of clock was suspended for one week .......... all I for got to say, with pay. That person really learned a lesson on that one.

Surely you know that the coaches (should they be paying attention at the time) can call it to the attention of the official, who can then confer with the side judge, who keeps official time on the field, it is completely correctable on the field, as it happens, as long as someone is paying attention, and it does not require replay.

I'm pretty sure I've watch plenty of games where I hear the announcement' "Please set the game clock to____." That should've been corrected. Several people missed it. Not quite sure how the steelers coaching staff did though. Im pretty sure in the circumstances of the game Haley if no one else, looks at the clock after the fg and goes to his play sheet to figure what can I do with this much time and timeouts..... Then you don't look at the scoreboard again after you send the play in?
 
If my company suspended me for a week with pay, and it was obvious I was wrong... i wouldnt appeal... the NFL needs a ceavet in the rules that an appeal could result in a worse punishment if you lose
 
he should be put in a boxing ring against James Harrison, that should be punishment enough

I've never understood these types of suspensions. Seems like just an extra week of PTO. Can anyone explain?

The one week with pay may seem like nothing. However, it almost certainly means that the official WILL NOT be be doing anything in the postseason. THAT is going to hurt.
