Hopefully he turns out to be the next Wake.

Lemon seems to be worth the shot, given how desperate they are for OLB talent.
It's hard to tell what this means for Worilds.
When the world gives you lemons....
Lemon seems to be worth the shot, given how desperate they are for OLB talent.
It's hard to tell what this means for Worilds, though I'm not sure I can see them going into next season with nothing but Lemon, Jarvis and 2nd or 3rd round pick at the position.
No need to wait until the 2nd or 3rd for a pass rusher - MOVE UP AND GET ONE in the 1st!!!
With all the holes this defense has, and the need for a 2nd string RB and possibly a TE, packaging picks to move up in the first isn't the way they should go. Just my opinion.
at times sure.... Perhaps not this draft as it seems like a bunch of close value talent early. Just have to rely on Colbert to bring in some impact players.
Hopefully staying away from the undersized, can't get off blocks types. But yes a lot is needed similar to last year.
Difference is this year I can realistically see the Steelers with a higher amount to spend once cuts/extensions/increase in cap/ takes place.
No reason the main needs can not get accomplished in free agency IMO............
I understand your reasoning. But, let me counter with this. We don't need only starters. We need good, quality, depth to develop for the future. To me it makes more sense to keep the draft picks this year and acquire some of that depth. Picking at 1:22, the amount of picks we'd have to give up to get one of the better pass rushers in the draft would be counterproductive. I agree that we fill in some spots through FA, and I like the "no stone unturned" approach they are taking with looking at these CFL guys. If they hit, great. Still doesn't alleviate the need to draft for depth (and possibly major contributors) on defense.
Personally, I think they got away from the approach that got them to being such a good defense. Draft the replacement while the starter is still playing well. If at some point the replacement is playing as well or better than the starter, release the starter and keep the younger, cheaper player.
Please give some examples where they altered from their approach please....just curious.
SS - Troy was obviously on the decline before they drafted Shamarko. Our backups to the backups (developmental guys) were an undrafted Golden and (?)
FS - Not having a developmental guy behind Clark is why we had to sign Mitchell. Again, an undrafted Golden and (?)
NT - McLendon has done a good job, but he was an undrafted FA, not like they invested in "the heir" to Casey. Although McCullers looks like he has potential, he was a late round pick-up drafted what 2 years after Casey was gone?
OLB - They knew Carter was crap and didn't do anything to find Harrison's replacement or Woodley's if you believe they wanted Worild's on the right. At least not until they drafted J.Jones. By which time they had already made plans to release Harrison.
DE - Ziggy hood sucked and they knew it. They also knew that Keisel was coming to the end of his career. So drafting Heyward was a good thing. But, where was the DE that they could develop that was not a practice squad guy?
CB - If you let Keenan walk, you need to have a replacement on the roster. Even if you believe Allen is that guy, failing to draft a credible CB for the other side meant we were relying on an old Ike to man one side of the field. As things worked out .... well you saw that.
* As I look over that list, I see that in many cases it wasn't that they didn't "TRY" to draft a developmental replacement, it's just that the guys they drafted sucked. Maybe it's because many of them were drafted in mid to late rounds.
Worlids based on market value is at probebly 6 mill, he easily would of had 10 sacks had lebeau used him properly which is more blitizing then coverage and not lining him up asa mlb in the nickel.
take it or leave it 4 years 22 million 5.5 million SB, if he wants more you move to Orakpo
