Steelers set to sign CFL OLB Lemon

Whichever direction I think they need to react quickly upon free agency. Do not let the pool dry up. Orakpo/ Worilds/ etc. I think they need to target -offer- and limit time offer is on the table. Doesn't seem to be the type of free agents you have to get into a bidding war with, But not like the market is loaded with options. Don't want to be caught picking the last fish out of the barrel.

Worlids based on market value is at probebly 6 mill, he easily would of had 10 sacks had lebeau used him properly which is more blitizing then coverage and not lining him up asa mlb in the nickel.

take it or leave it 4 years 22 million 5.5 million SB, if he wants more you move to Orakpo

You sir...are on crack.

What has Worilds done to even deserve a contract? Let him walk...hes average at best.

And here is my rebuttal...

For the past decade or so (I'd say since Ben was picked) we've had a hard time getting "blue chippers". That happens when you have a winning team - you pick later in the draft and we haven't picked well, for the most part, in the tail end of the first half.

You don't need premium picks to draft talent.,,

Ben - 11
Troy - 16
Hampton - 19
Holmes - 25
Faneca - 26
Heath - 30

I agree with idiot.

Timmons at 16 and Woodley at 46
Mendenhall at 23
Pouncey at 18
Heyward at 31
DeCastro at 24

Exactly. Drafts don't suffer due to poor draft positioning. The top tens of every draft are packed with a massive bust rate. It's the picks themselves that matter, and they stand on their own merits regardless of draft position.

You can see that borne out in the two lists here; one includes multiple no-brainer HOFers and decade-long stars, while the other consists of solid, yet flawed and never star-caliber players as its success stories.

It's a Canadian onslaught! Hide the women and children!

Finally, a cornerback with decent size, I can hardly believe my eyes...

CFL CB Delvin Breaux works out for Pittsburgh
http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.co...delvin-breaux-workout-contract-signing-roster

from his wikipedia page:
Breaux fractured his C4, C5 and C6 vertebrae during a kickoff return in a high school game on October 27, 2006. He had earlier received a scholarship to play football for the LSU Tigers. The Tigers honored his scholarship and he arrived at LSU in December 2008 but was never cleared to play. He was a player-coach for the Tigers. Breaux eventually stopped going to practice and later left LSU.[1]

thing is, the draft absolutely must break right
when Heath was drafted, the knock on him was a hernia. it made other teams hesitant. He was a top talent and we literally stole him.

the whole Polamalu saga is well-detailed. Things had to break right for us to even consider him. Not that he wasn't a talent, just that he wasn't on our radar to begin with.

they weren't afraid to trade up or down...seems they went away from that ............ be interesting to see their approach this year.......

Hopefully he turns out to be the next Wake.

You have to love his production in the CFL

I'd rather find FIVE ABOVE AVERAGE players in the draft and fill the depth wholes via free agency. But, again, I don't get paid to make decisions - this is just my opinion.

Except they've actually been picking closer to the middle of the first round than the bottom of it most years during the Tombert regime.

The only team that has primarily been picking near the bottom of each round for the past decade has been the Patriots.

Man, it's tough not to root for a guy like Breaux, I hope he makes it back to full strength. Inspirational story, for sure.

Player coach? That's still a thing?

Welcome aboard Shawn Lemon! Now go knock the QB's head off! :)

Haven't heard about that DB wonder if it didn't go well........

He beat a tackle once all season for a sack.

Coryea will kill me for saying this, but people used to complain on this board quite a bit that Joey Porter could never beat OTs for sacks. We have this image in our mind (it happens as time passes) of Joey whipping tackles, but go back and look at the 2005 playoffs. Joey was wreaking havoc, but it was against TEs or against air (i.e. Lebeau's scheme gave him a free rush).

He scheduled meetings with 18 teams and apparently after we expressed interest, so did the Saints. He's from Louisiana. I'd hope that where he has a chance to play the most has a greater impact than being close to home.

if Worlids does lower his demands to say avg 4.5 mill-5 mill then cheaper options are De/OLB Sheard, Mcphee, De/OLB Darryl Tapp, De/OLB Bowers.
Sam Acho these affordable guys, I would go with Sheard as he is versatile and since Butler said he will in some 4-3 or 46 or different things, Guys like Sheard, Bowers Mcphee fit our needs and price tag, we just need to lock up Ben, hope Troy retires oir mutual release, Cam Thomas must go.
Pay Heyward that way with Ben @ heyward locked up it will open gaps to sign a few DL/OLB, we also need Moats back at say 3 years 5 mil McCain back at 2 years 3.2 mill, Blake back at vet min.
As for SS I wan't to draft Collins (Bama ) or Harris (Virgina) so best we sign Will Allen for 1 last time or bring in a better coverage S like Rolle.

Draft I go S or CB in round 1 round 2 CB or S round 3 hybrid De/OLB round 4 CB
Then say Will Allen is back you have a 3 way battle at SS between Allen Thomas @ rookie, may the best man win.
as for DL I would take a look at MT Cody.

i'm not so sure mcphee would be chepear than worilds ...btw i prefer mc phee

Yeah, I'm still holding out hope for a signing. Good things come in pairs, might as well make it a double-CFL whammy... been reading up on Breaux, seems there are several coaches that view him as an NFL starting caliber CB. We seem to be short on those...

I see what you did there ...

Why stop there.......how about Worilds lowers them to 2.5 to 3.5 per season....and then say Ben lowers his demand to say .....10.5 to 11.5 per season with lets say 2 mill dollar signing bonus. ..crossing my fingers.
