Can't a team sign any player off anyone's PS?
Well they can make an offer, but then the player can say no or tell the other team and they can counteroffer… people cant just claim them like waivers… plus there is a rule that you can protect a couple players from being claimed each weekCan't a team sign any player off anyone's PS?
Did they change the rule about claiming a PS player, that they had to go on the active 53 If claimed from another team’s PS?Can't a team sign any player off anyone's PS?

No they still have to do that..Did they change the rule about claiming a PS player, that they had to go on the active 53 If claimed from another team’s PS?
100%...and madinsomniac said insurance policy against injury. I do think there was an element of...I really believe the Steelers expected to part ways with Rudolph but his performance, and maybe Oladukun's slow progress (i don't know this) triggered plan B...of C or D.I think Oladukun was drafted to play Lamar and Deshaun in practices. No need for that in preseason but there will be in the regular season. Also, the steelers have to assume either Trubisky or Rudolph are gone next year so they need a developmental guy behind Pickett.
I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility that Rudolph ends up being traded and Oladokun ends up the 3rd QB.
I think it’s a bad sign that the Steelers don’t like their current options on the OL and are delaying those roster decisions. Then it was probably a bad idea to cut him now rather than wait a week, no?

Not necessarily. They had to get down to 80 players, they didn’t have to get down to a certain number of players at each position. Oladokun as the third QB or the PS QB is a luxury. They don’t have anything close to luxuries on the OL. They might be holding on to whatever options they have. The two have nothing to do with each other. You posited that maybe the Steelers were going to trade Rudolph and add Oladukun as the #3 QB later on. If that is indeed their plan - which I doubt - then cutting him a week before the difficult decisions are due is not a good idea. If the team really plans on dealing Rudolph and keeping Oladukun, then cutting him right now is just plain dumb.
The problems with the offensive line are independent of the wasted draft pick on Oladukun. Or perhaps they are related a bit in that the Steelers passed on any number of potential offensive line additions to add a guy who never saw the field in pre-freaking-season.
