52. Devonte Wyatt, IDL, Georgia
84. Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington

Analysis: Picked up the best center in the draft and a guy who should be able to start as a rookie. Wyatt provides the needed IDL depth and Gordon comes from a school that does great work producing NFL DBs.

52. Desmond Ridder, QB, Cincinnati
84. Darian Kinnard, OT, Kentucky

Analysis: This draft took a turn when Williams fell to 1.20. I'm not worried about the ACL injury, he's a top-10 talent with good size (6'2") and speed. Give me a legit No. 1 receiver. At this point I am basically punting on 2022 and decided to take a risk with Ridder. He has good physical attributes and leadership abilities. I'm not sold on him, but why not? Kinnard profiles as a RT who is has room to develop.

Easy 1. Linderbaum knows leverage and will not be pushed backwards like Green was regularly. Gordon has some great physical attributes and I think he is just bottom feeding on his overall potential. Really high on him. When will Williams be ready to play? And I like the kid.

I'm assuming he'll play this year but won't really be himself until 2023, which coincides when Ridder would become the fulltime starter.

if every year we traded a low round pick for a pick one higher the next season, and a mid for a high te next season, we could really do well...

there was one year we had a stacked roster and lke ten draft picks and didnt trade forward or up... we just made a bunch of picks and cut most of them... waste of assets

Steelers off-season moves.
Resign Akello Witherspoon 3-year 24 million
Resign Miles Killebrew 1 year 1 million

Sign Tyrod Taylor QB for 3 million plus incentives 1 year deal.
Sign Zach Pascal WR 2 year 15 million dollar deal.
Sign Ethan Pocic to OL 2 year 10 million dollar deal.
Sign Taven Bryan DL 1 year 3 million dollars.

This see all these being reasonable. I doubt the Steelers offer lots in the way of cash for a veteran QB so Taylor at 3 million seems up the Steelers alley. The rest are reasonably young and have potential. The more proven they are the more years I give them.


#20- CB Ahmad Gardner - Cincinnati
With Haden likely gone we are one CB shy even with signing Witherspoon. Gardner is a true shutdown CB.

#52- DL Travon Walker - Georgia
With Tuitt gone and our DL already thin I wouldn’t be shocked if we went DL in round one. Walker a former 5 star recruit is a tweener at 6-5 275lbs but should fill out nicely in the upper 290’s. Explosive athlete with long arms.

#84- G Emil Ekiyor Jr. - Alabama
I finally go offensive line which might be our biggest need. But Steelers seem to like Moore, Green, Dotson, JC and Banner. This gives them a guy who can play both guard and center.

#97- WR Wan'Dale Robinson - Kentucky
Electric playmaker when the ball is in his hands. Doubt Washington or JuJu are back.

#177- OT Obinna Eze - TCU
Steal here in the draft. Big man with decent feet. Reminds me of Max Starts. Should at least provide competition at tackle and at the very least depth.

#191- LB Ellis Brooks - Penn State
Sure tackling ILB that is an A+ athlete.

#223- S Greg Eisworth II - Iowa State
Another hard hitting safety. I feel pairing him with Norwood gives us a more than adequate replacement for Edmunds.

#239- RB Tyler Allgeier - BYU
We ran Harris too death last year. McFarland is a bust and Ballage is likely gone.

Ehh, I don't love the draft. Tremendous upgrade at RT with a guy who is definitely skilled enough to play LT if needed, plus a legit starting C in place of turnstile, improvement at DL and ILB'er, and a decent QB who is mobile enough to keep plays alive and gain a 1st down with his feet.

Plus two top-tier 2023 selections. Steelers now have a potential starting QB, upgraded OL, upgraded defense and at least five selections in the first 3 rounds in 2023, which they'll need to upgrade CB, S, WR, OG, TE2 and RB2.
 
I feel like Witherspoon could be had for a few million less than 8 per… they signed Sutton for 2 years 9 mill… he isn’t getting almost twice that with limited starting experience

No freaking way Gardner lasts to pick 24, but whatever. Traded down for more quality picks. Gardner a big (6'3", 200 lbs.) CB, good footwork, arguably the best CB in the draft, probably no worse than the 2nd best corner behind Stingley. Faalele is a dominant run blocker, Muma a legit ILB'er. Can stuff the run, good in zone coverage over the middle of the field where he covers guys, not grass. Bell a very good WR, Ridder because he was there, Garrett a genuine DT. Put Alualu, Garrett and Heyward in the middle, Watt and Highsmith on the ends, Muma in the middle. Kirkland upgrades OG position, get help at backup RB. Hansford an interesting late-round flier. Came to A&M as a WR, converted to ILB'er, played 3 seasons there, better each year. Big enough for either ILB or OLB, good speed, still learning. What the hell do you expect with pick 237??

This team can't be fixed in one draft. Too many holes. I fixed the goddamn OL once and for all and drafted a genuinely good ILBer. Also obtained top-tier draft capital for 2023. The QB, CB, S, backup RB, DT problems remain but having 4 of the top 60 picks in 2023 means these problems can be solved.

Those are three later picks I really like. Gardner is excellent, but his teammate Bryant is also very good. Big (6'1", 200 lbs.), had to stand up to repeated attack because Gardner was on the other side and responded with 7 picks and 18 passes defensed in his last two seasons. He also basically shut down Jameson Williams in the Alabama game, as the completions were little dumpoffs that gained 5 yards.

Garrett is going to develop into a run stuffer who can collapse the pocket. He will never be an elite pass rusher like Heyward, but teams that double Heyward on running plays are going to pay the price relative to Garrett.

Heigligh is an excellent pick that late. He is big (6'2"), good hands, catches in traffic, not afraid to block. I think he runs a 4.45 at the combine and moves into the first 4 rounds. I like him and Josh Johnson of Tulsa for a later round WR.

Also had to give up Steelers 4th and 7th in 2023 draft. Penning is going to be an excellent OT. Moore stays on the left, he goes RT and is one of the better pass protecting RT in the game pretty soon. Willis because ... the QB needs to be able to move or he will get killed. Also noticed three of the four QB's playing yesterday moved really, really well to buy time or run to pick up key first downs. Tindall is good, Lake underrated. The later round guys are players I noticed and watched a bit of game film. Oh, and I wind up with four of the first 60 picks 2023 draft.

I am beginning to believe that this draft is rich in talent for picks 25-75. Steelers can definitely trade down, get draft capital in the 2023 draft and still get a very good player in the 2022 draft.
