Report: Steelers Reportedly Trading For Jacksonville Linebacker Joe Schobert

Aggressive move. Seems like they're going all in for Ben. They must think they're okay in the secondary though.
Not sure why they think that. I think they are still short a corner.

Like they needed to try and find an ILB that could cover a TE
Yep especially relying on your best coverage LBer coming off injury.

Very good move. We needed better coverage in the middle and now have it. Get him up to speed. I just hope this doesn't mean the rookie gets bumped. Even putting him on the PS means he is gone. Hopefully, it means goodbye to UG3 and possibly Allen.

This is actually interesting as Tomlin just commented on how Spillane was learning to cover TE's much better in camp. I guess apparently not good enough. If this guy is decent against the run as well, Spillane could move back to the No. 3 ILB with the rookie as No. 4. I doubt they keep more than 4 ILB's but who knows.

I guy with this numbers is a guy you pick up if you can, no matter what.

Apparently, they love Pierre and have a lot of confidence in him behind Haden and Sutton.

I would have liked to see them add someone more established as well, but they already have a lot of money tied into the position.

would love to see the compensation we are offering, maybe we can have them throw in the CB they are shopping and send them Washington, Snell, Layne and a 4th-5th in a rarely seen multiplayer deal

You ***** when they do something good. You are the yin to my yang on outlook. Always seems you are glass half empty.
First I have to look at the deal to see if it's good. What did they give up? That said they are using cap space at a position where they should have someone good enough at this point. Spillane came out of nowhere and maybe he is a one hit wonder. But UG3 should be ready to go by now. So the point is if they could have coached a guy up they could have used this capital for sure at corner. Oline no. Teams don't give up good olineman. Period.

Still nothing official from the Steelers. Everybody is reporting it though. Hope it happens. Schoebert can help. A lot.

Just hoping we don't' give up too much draft capital. If Jax is eating some of his salary, there has to be some significant draft pick(s) in the deal.

Schobert is apparently much better at coverage. I would have to think with what he's done so far in his career, he is going to be on the field next to Bush on most plays. Spillane and Johnson are much better against the run and should probably be the backups and run-down specialists.

The other variable is the health of Devin Bush.

Something tells me that they do not make a move of this magnitude if Bush was looking good in camp, despite the concerns with Spillane.

They might feel they do not have anyone who can cover right now.

My son and I were talking about that last night. I told him that if it was draft picks it was a third or better for sure. If they give up a first, I wouldn't even know what to say.

This is a fantastic pick up. I'm not sure what we gave up yet but Schobert is a huge upgrade and will solidify the middle of the field.

There's no way it's going to be a 1st, but a 2nd might be a possibility, given the salary the Jaguars are apparently absorbing.

This almost feels like an emergency, desperation type move, which as I said above, makes me wonder about the health of Bush.

I would trade them Rudy straight up.😁

This was in the works before the game and Bush started the game so I seriously doubt there is a setback or something with Bush. With that said, players typically take more than a year to get back to full speed from a serious injury. He still isn't a year out. Yes, I know guys heal faster nowadays but Bush probably won't be going full speed until mid-season and should then actually be playing much better next year. This is definitely a good pick-up, especially if it didn't cost us a top 3 round pick. As I said above, Spillane and Buddy should round out the middle of the field with Bush and Schobert as the starters. When Bush is up to speed, that will be a very nice middle of the field for us.

This is the 3rd former pro bowler we have picked up this offseason. The other two are older and may not be here next year (but you never know) but hopefully Schobert will be with a healthy Bush. That is 2 potential pro bowlers at ILB.

I wasn't happy with what Colbert did to address the OL as a whole this offseason, but he made some shrewd moves with Turner, Ingram, and now Schobert. Not bad given the cap situation. Still needs to get that Watt deal done.

I am wondering if Turner ultimately gets the start, he had a rough performance IMO last night.

Has nothing to do with Bush, obviously the Steelers feel he's an upgrade over Spillane. Bush and Schobert would be the starters with Spillane likely getting plenty of work in the rotation, makes for a solid ILB corps.
