Report: Steelers Reportedly Trading For Jacksonville Linebacker Joe Schobert

Why on earth would Jacksonville agree to to this trade? Crazy things. Glad we are on the other side of this trade
They initiated the trade. They called the steelers to see if they were interested. First year head coach GM combo, and this was a signing from the previous. There is a snippet about it on steelers.com

no offense. But you are a ****** idiot. No he isn't going to get better. Doesn't mean he is going to be bad or have a massive drop off. But he isn't going to put up bigger numbers. Look at his brothers stats. Or any great defender for that matter. They got substantially better after 5 years. ********.
No offense...then call me a ******* idiot and a ********.

Yup, that's how you carry out a friendly discussion. Hopefully you can enjoy your day, you seem pretty angry, try taking a nap.

I use to make 1 lb of BACON at a time but then I realized I could up my game. NOW I make 5 lbs. at a time and it seems to be just enough.

I always have a 5lber. on tap and free rides in the LUXURY S10.

Looks like Jags will pay half of his salary this year? https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...ts-2021-salary/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
If true then this will drastically lower his cap hit for this year and Colbert keeps getting gooder and gooder.
Even better, the money from the Jags cut his cap hit in half and then they cut it in half again by turning the Steeler's portion of the guaranteed $$$ into a signing bonus. Actual cap hit $1.88M

That's pretty cheap provided he isn't damaged goods (I don't think he is). What appears to be a legitamit LB has been had for way cheap. How can one not give the FO and AAA+++ in this transaction !!! What will his role be........ will he be able to unseat Spillane or just be a depth signing ???

slash said that as well. Is he really that good and it makes me wonder why the Jagoffs were willing to get rid of him on such a cheap deal (for us).?

found the article again

Schobert took part in team meetings Saturday and joined the Steelers for training camp practice at Heinz Field for the first time Sunday. He was immediately inserted into the first team, often taking reps alongside Devin Bush in the team period. Schobert was used at dimeback and also said he expects to play the Mac backer. He said the plan is for him to wear the green dot helmet as the defensive signal-caller when the regular season begins.

Colbert feeds of new coaches that are inclined to dispense of the previous regime's acquisitions.

I doubt with his future salary he is depth. Probably a 3 down ILBer for us.

After reading and asking fellow members here, It looks as though he will be starting out of the gate. They plan on giving him the GREEN dot helmet. He immeadiately took first team snaps in his first practise.

Possibly not a lot of teams want to take on a 27 year old inside linebacker with such a large contract attached. Given his age and future salary it's likely the only teams interested are those in playoff contention who believe he is a significant upgrade at ILB and still have a few million in cap space - teams who are building for the future are going to be looking for younger players, or lower cost vets who can help guide the future stars. When you look at the structure of the deal, it's basically one year at a low price with a very expensive option for another three. I doubt he is a Steeler in 2022 unless future salary is significantly reduced.
