Steelers - Eagles preseason game thread

There is something wrong with Robert Spillane....he is not 100%. The move to get Schobert is a good move! Our entire Defense has looked MEH at best tonight. Seeing Edmunds & Sutton both lack of effort on that 79 yd screen pass by Flacco for the TD was disturbing to say the least but Norwood needs to make that tackle. That being said it was definitely a lowlight on the Defense tonight. Jamir Jones looks to be one of the few brigh spots Defensively tonight. On offense I'll say it....Haskins looks good....he made a couple really nice throws....did miss a wide open Receiver on his first 3rd down play as he scrambled to his left....he needs to make those completions. Hope he keeps improving and keeps his head out of his *** in the future too. On the O-line it looked like Kendrick Green had a rough time tonight. I will say I'm impressed by Kevin Dotson....he looks good to me....not sure why the coaching staff was so hard on him....Hassenhauer looks pretty good on the 2nd team too. 2nd team O-line getting good push tonight.

Not really worried about the defense yet. Their four of five best defenders haven't been playing.

Sutton hasn't looked too good, but you really cannot take much from preseason regarding players with job security like him.

If I'm Dobbs, I'm attaching myself to Matt Canada to prepare for a career in coaching like Tee Martin.

i still think there is a very legit chance that he ends up on the practice squad if dobbs lights it up… I don’t think he is as secure as people think…
I still think Dobbs gets cut, traded, or PS. If the team was that high on him they wouldn't have signed Haskins.

I have the Eagles broadcast. Ross Tucker can't understand why Eagles are not rotating that DL at all on a very hot and humid night. He figures Eagles must be looking to find who is tough and will keep fighting while being exhausted. That seems to be the only explanation because that drive was too easy just pushing them around.
I said the same thing to my wife before he said it! Someone is going drop dead at this rate.

I think there is a slim chance he doesn't make the roster and tonight he made a solid case to stick.
NO WAY do the Steelers cut Haskins after his in-game performance the last 2 weeks. 4 TD Drives! ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Interesting to me:
"Haskins is doing it against the other team's scrubs"
"Now Dobbs (playing against guys who will be washing cars for a living in September) ... Dobbs is really lighting it up! Much better than Haskins."

At this point if Haskins continues to perform like this....I think Rudolph is the odd man out. Dobbs is a good analyzer of fellow QB plays. Ben has even said that he puts alot of trust in the insight that Dobbs provides to him on the sidelines. Dobbs is an intelligent kid!

Minus that botched running play, I think he's made some good decisions tonight. Granted, a lot of quick hitters and checkdowns, but this kid is definitely growing on me.

samuels looks good,, so does dotson and gentry.
Samuels just doesn’t have the leg strength that McFarland seems to have found this year. McFarland has made a marked improvement from last year. Samuels is just a guy. Najee Ballage McFarland then Snell or Samuels. One has got to go between the last two.

Well I'll say it now....Adrian Klemm has brought a new mentality to our O-linemen. They are really killing it tonight, especially the 2nd team...Dotson, Hassenhauer and Finney are blowing up Philly's front 7 since they came in. Dotson needs to remember to continue blocking thru the 2nd level but he might be our best OL.

Needed to bring that same mentality to the starting unit...

Again the cap structure pretty much assures that won’t happen

the Steelers are much higher on Rudolph than the fanbase is… his contract is set up that it costs a couple hundred thousand more to cut him than keep him, plus you have to add another 850k in cap charges if both Dobbs and Haskins make it…

Haskins is still trying to prove that he can make nfl progression reads… and he is doing ok… but he was horrible in Washington and he has virtually no value across the league… if they keep Dobbs as the 3 Qb because Ben likes his insight, then Haskins is absolutely on the outside looking in… but he would absolutely be offered a ps spot and probably would be in the running to start next year if ben does retire…

He really has… that passive **** doesn’t cut it in the run game… the mauling is way better lol

The Eagles don't know how to play Flacco's game, which is throw an uncatchable ball near a receiver who is near a defender and get your yards on the PI penalty.

Flacco would still need to be a Baltiwhore Gavin to get that favortism from the ref's / rog.

Salute the nation

Dwayne Haskins has to crank open & chug a couple of cans of spinach if he wants to convince anyone he's gonna be our next best QB, when Ben hangs 'em up.

I'm not seeing it on the field. But that won't stop me from rooting for the guy.

Hard to tell if the steelers OL is playing great or if the Eagles DL depth is awful or if it's the hot weather that just has the Eagles tired in their first preseason game.

With all this time to throw and the big holes in the run game, it would be nice to see a big play somewhere.

Im keeping McFarland for this Canada offense. To me snell is odd man out, and he hasnt even played a down in preseason yet, so theres that too.

Then make him the "insight" coach, they're not cutting Rudolph.

I think it is Jaysam getting the axe. I also think McFarland has jumped into the number two spot.

If the main reason they want to keep Dobbs is for his insights, then just offer him a coaching internship. He'd be a fool to turn down the opportunity to be groomed for a coaching gig to go elsewhere and be a 3rd string QB. He's a smart enough guy to know coaching is his best future in the NFL.

I think it's a combination of all of that. Some of them have been mauling dudes. #60 (JC) has been dogging it or just really isn't good though.
