Tuesday, NFL Network Insider, Ian Rapoport reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers exercised their fifth-year option for safety, Minkah Fitzpatrick.

The #Steelers have exercised the fifth-year option for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, source said. The #Bears have done the same for Roquan Smith.

Fitzpatrick was traded to the Steelers in 2019 from the Miami Dolphins and has become one of the league’s best safeties ever since. He’s made the Pro Bowl and was named First-Team All-Pro the last two seasons.

Fitzpatrick’s $10.612 million salary for 2022 is now fully guaranteed.

More to come.

Smart move. I expect big things from him this next season.

Obviously not letting him walk in 2022. That was not happening but wonder how it effects longterm deal.

no brainer
Coach will find fault in it...

I thought he was talking about Coach ?

I'm sure most here expected this. It gets us through till next cap fiscal year (they will negotiate long term).

TJ is going to take the dough / kaching / denar / franks / butterscoth coins......................... A-loT

Salute the nation

No surprise here. Now, get Watt under a long-term deal this offseason and the Minkah next offseason. Bush will be up after that depending on how he comes back from this injury.

Great and expected move. Next year extend him and TJ.
Wonder if they will pick-up Terrell Edmonds option? Never agreed with where they drafted this guy and thought he could have been there in the third round when we picked.
