Am I the only one wondering why?

Rodney Hudson was cut by the Raiders, would be a great plug and play Center. Not sure if we can afford it, but worth a shot for 1-2 year deal. Phillip Lindsay only got a original round tender as a free agent. Might be worth throwing a 2 year contract at.

5 mil a year for an unproven starter coming off major injury, at least he’s a feel good story.

I was really kinda hoping we’d let every free agent go this year (except the cheap restricted guys) and only add cut bait scrap heap guys to amass comp picks for next year and free up cap space for the rebuild that begins next year

it’s not like we are trying to be playoff competitive anyways

Have been thinking the same.. .reading the tea leaves, wouldn't shock me if Haden is let go.

**** the tea leaves,... get down to the bones

Our D is really getting depleted. Losing Hilton and Bud hurts bad and Alualu and Williams adds salt to the wound. Two guys that had the Steeler D attitude and work ethic...

Tomlin owes his entire career to Ben and
Ben gets what he wants at this point as he’s been the saving grace of this franchise for a couple decades now.

maybe cutting this down to the bones will
give Ben the edge he needs to defy the odds and make one more run at something that starts with a playoff win

It looks to me that they are waiting to grab a cheaper cb, then cut somebody. Probably Haden would be my guess.

Big chunk of money for a guy that hasn't started more than a couple of games at RT

They haven't extended Haden or Nelson yet? Haden has a 15 million hit and Nelson a 14 million hit, both in the final years of their contracts. They could lower those cap numbers this year by extending them.
They will make a move on these contracts once they need to move the money around and not before.

It isn't 5 mil per year. He's going to count under 3 million against the cap this year. That's a bargin for an OT

Talk to tuitt Haden doesn’t want to leave and decastro

Aj green to cards 7 mill

This team is being transformed before our very eyes....

This is why I personally believed re-working Ben's contract made no sense. The team is in cap hell right now, will be lucky to win 8 games with the upcoming schedule.

Draft Trask and sit him, play Rudolph, get your LT and C in this draft (very deep in OL prospects), then get ready for 2022 when they will have a TON of cap space and a very good draft spot. Back in the hunt, baby!

There is ZERO cap hell next year. We're over 100M under the cap next year and already have 51 players signed. Why is this so difficult for our fanbase to grasp????????

Only 20 guys signed for next year as of right now. Not as much cap space as it seems.

****. I was looking at the top 51 numbers and didn't bother to count... Whelp a lot of that money will go to filling out a roster then. I see 22. Some will be ERFAs and FAs and of course our draft class will be on there, but still, half the roster will need to be filled for next year.

Add the 2 draft classes between this draft and next at known cap numbers and its a very good cap situation...

I agree and just maybe enough to make a splash at a legitamite high end QB.

You need to re-read what I posted. Specifically:

then get ready for 2022 when they will have a TON of cap space and a very good draft spot.

Got it?

You have to factor in TJ Watt becoming the highest paid defender in the NFL and Fitzpatrick probably becoming the top paid safety. But yeah, it's still much better than they've been and if they strike while the iron is hot, could have a young QB cheap for 4-5 years.
