So evidently, Donald was the only unanimous choice.
1) does this mean that there was a voter who thought there were TWO edge guys in front of TJ?
2) does this foreshadow anything regarding DPOY?

If they are the same voters then

yes.

I thought Kelce was a unanimous choice also.
1. Interesting question.
2. I would hope not. They play different positions and I think the vote for DPOY plays out differently than the All-Pro votes. It may (shouldn't be) close, but TJ's numbers surpass those of Donald in every category.

I'm pretty sure TJ's numbers surpassed the cheatriot player's number of last year as well.................so there is no sure thing here.

PS.......... I think our very own NELSON had very near or better than the cheatriot player last year as well. Some here forget NELSON played lights out last year.

I should have said “on defense” because that’s what I meant. Donald was the only one listed on the graphic on defense, so Kelce might have been unanimous too.

Disappointing precursor, I understand some voters
prejudice against a certain team but if that voter carries it over to an individual on that team for no other reason than spite, it's a shame. If Watt doesn't get the nod for DPOY, there's something else.

Watt should see that disrespect because he should be a key piece to our defensive gameplan, which will be to force Mayfield to make bad throws and to contain the Browns' rushing attack.

I'm just hoping the "something else" has nothing to do with big markets like LA and NFL super star promotion.

When do they announce dpoy?

Right before the Super Bowl.

Last year TJ was 1st team All Pro Edge AND 2nd team All Pro LB, and he still didn't win DPOY, so I wouldn't look too much into the AP voting to determine the DPOY.

Meh, ive traveled this country the better part of my life and I’ve listened to a metric **** ton of various media voters and Ive come to the conclusion that while most are great, many are idiots with vendettas and biases...

Hell until last year no MLB player had ever been a unanimous first ballot hall of famer... somebody voted against all of those obvious picks all those years... i mean someone had the balls to vote against Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan

Its part stats, part hype, part bias...

What's everyone's thoughts on this? IMO, for being on of the top voices in the NFL, Peter King has some dumb philosophical ideas on All Pro and Hall of Fame voting. Never did I see the All Pro receivers as the top two outside guys and top slot guy. It's the top three receivers in the NFL straight up. Cole Beasley doesn't even belong in the conversation. You also can't convince me that some of these outside guys wouldn't put up huge numbers from the slot as well if given the same number of opportunities as Beasley. If you remember, King was the same guy who didn't vote Polamalu into the Hall of Fame because he said he didn't need his vote.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I vote for what I consider a real team. In this case: Two outside receivers (I voted Stefon Diggs and Davante Adams) and a slot (Cole Beasley). <a href="https://t.co/KC81i9YHwb">https://t.co/KC81i9YHwb</a></p>— Peter King (@peter_king) <a href="https://twitter.com/peter_king/status/1347717848207077382?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 9, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Actually no. Stephon Gilmore had great season, led league in INTs (6) and passes defensed (20), in addition to having 2 pick-6s.
Gilmore didn’t surrender a single TD and QB rating against was 44.1

Nelson did not play close to that level, although Joe Haden had great season with 5 INTs and 17 passes defensed (Pro Bowl season)
For comparison—Haden was beaten for 5 TDs in 2019 & QB rating against was 66.1

TJ Watt arguably had better season in 2019, forcing 10 turnovers (2 INT & 8 fumbles) with 14.5 sacks & 14 TFL. He was 3rd in DPOY voting... which really was criminal. I get being 2nd to Gilmore, but not Chandler Jones.

Sadly, if Watt picks up the fumble vs. Washington and scores, it’s a splash play or what many call “signature play” and influences the voters, though Watt shouldn’t need a splash play to overshine his consistent dominance

Great post but it should also be mentioned that NELSON didn't give up a single touchdown last year as well. He may not have been statistically better, which I can see now but he was still a VERY good #2 CB on our team last year. It's nice to have good CB play after so many years of averGE.
