I think it's more logical that Sarrett isn't a very good coach rather than an NFL team is not practicing running the football.. I mean, come on.

Oline has been slipping for a couple seasons run blocking, even when Munch was here, our two super stars there aren't super stars anymore and the rest are below average.

We made it to, and won the super bowl with those WR because we had a dominant D and run game.
Most of those WR didn't make it past a year, they were BAD. Even Ben couldn't have made them with out.

You got three solid WR, and Ward went thru a lot of QBs before Ben.

In comparison, Wallace, Brown, Sanders, Bryant, Juju, Washington, Johnson, Claypool. It is and always has been a dumb "if my aunt had balls" argument.

Tomlin is 8-7 in career playoff games.

He's likely to make it 8-8 after this year.

But hey, at least he never had a losing season.

Since it's all about the QB, Sean Payton was hired in 2006. He's had one of the greatest QBs to ever play his entire time in NO. He has 4 losing seasons, missed the playoffs entirely 5 times, been to one super bowl, which he won.

Mike McCarthy, hired in 2006. Had Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers. One super bowl trip, one win. 3 losing seasons, 4 times missed the playoffs.

There are not a lot of other coaches that have been around one team that long. To have the success Tomlin has had, is not JUST because of Ben.

How many franchise QBs did Cowher have during that time. He went to the AFCC with Kordell lol.. and SB with a terrible O'donnel.

Then he gets Ben and goes to AFCC and SB win in back to back seasons.

Having a franchise QB didn’t matter to Cowher. If it was, then more would have been done to get one before Ben showed up. Cowher was a run the ball, control the clock and overwhelm with defense. Passing was to set up everything else. Bettis was more important than the QB, even with Kordell. Plus, I’ll add Ben during his rookie regular season was kept on a short leash. Threw less than 300 passes, completed less than 200. Was only average in the playoffs. That was a rushing ball control offense. 2005 his regular season actually was similar to his rookie year, except his TD/INT ratio was much better. Whiz let Ben open it up in the playoffs though.

But I reiterate, Cowher’s mentality did not place importance of a franchise QB, which is one of the reasons he never got one until Ben showed.

What an embarrassing post. Ben didn't need amazing WRs to win the SB and that list of WRs of Tomlins havent won ****.

Go back and watch the playoff games leading up to SB in 2005, Ben played great in all those games except the SB. That great defense and running game **** the bed in the SB back in 2008, I think Ben might have had something to do with that win..

definite truth to that, but in 1995 NFL, there was 1 QB that had a 100 QB rating, and that was freaking Harbaugh with a 100.7. On the other hand there were 16 RB's that topped 1,000 yards, and 10 that topped 300 carries.
Last season there were 9 QB's that topped 100.7 and only 2 RB's to top 300 attemps.

I've always said, if that team had a better QB, they'd have a ring or two, but there were none to be had, in the draft, in free agency. He did try to get Marino in the late 90's

Agreed here, the OL is not that good anymore, 3 guys +30. Our 2019 starting RT is now our starting LG, and our starting RT can't move anyone in the run game, solid pass blocker, but not so much run blocking.

I mentioned this and even had a thread on the decline of the OL. Some people can't hear the train coming until it's too late. And free agency will be a real bit@h in 2010. Big AL, and Feiler could be gone. Pouncey is over the hill and approaching the steep decline DeCastro might soon be joining him.

We had a **** running game in 2008 (23rd in yards, 29th in YPA). We had one of the best defenses ever and one of the best QBs ever, and probably the worst OL to ever win a ring.
