College Football Week 10

So you made your assesment with about a quarter worth of gametime. GTFO with that BS. You couldn't be bothered to stick around to watch adjustments and how they played.....just make a "general" comment. Your input is worthless.

I made my assessment based on the first two games plus what I watched yesterday. I’m not defending the guy. Last year I was ripping on him when a whole lot of people on this board were defending him. He’s not a good QB. Having little in the way of WR’s doesn’t help a bad QB get better. Who does he have beyond Friermuth? Dotson? Come on.

I think ND will slip up somewhere, they always seem to find a way to screw their season. I think they got pretty lucky this game. Their QB threw some ugly looking balls and was lucky to not get picked. I dont think Lawrence would have made much difference this game DJ played very well, but ND did a great job of shutting Etienne down. Clemson's D needs to improve.

I disagree DJ had a great game and might be a #1 pick. He is still learning game and Lawrence would have won game in regulation

I'm an Irish fan. Though I doubt they can beat Clemson with Lawrence at QB they were able to move and score on the defense. Notre Dame does find ways to F'k it up and Boston College is a prime opportunity next week. That said even if this team is in the playoffs they are not going to beat Alabama. They do not possess that type of athletes.

We're good at Bama - but you know I'm a believer of 'any given Saturday/Sunday'...Our LB's have been much better this year but there's work to do on D still - too many big runs up the middle and our DB's are still very young.

The Gators are confident they can beat us this year. It'll be a shootout but we'll prevail in the SECCG!!!

Has anyone that watches football ever seen officials call a TD as reviewed and called a td then review again. That was the wildest scene, with no explanation

That was a first - but, I'm the minority (literally) here, I think college football is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the NFL when it comes to instant replay...

it was definitely weird, but ultimately they got the call right which is the most important thing. The guys calf / shin was down early. The best part was on the next play the Clemson QB scored and it was under review again and Dabo smashed his headset.

I'm the complete opposite. Replay ruins the pure excitement of the game because college replays EVERYTHING, including painfully obvious calls that don't need to be replayed. It slows an already slow game and kills the excitement.

I suggest more alcohol

The more I watch UNC's sophomore quarterback ( Howell ) the more he impresses me. A future 1st round pick I think.

Too bad there are not 8 teams in the college playoffs. If there were this guy and North Carolina offense might be one of those lower seeds to pull off an upset.

Penn State was ranked top 10 for a reason. The team has a lot of talent. The biggest strengths should have been the OL and DL where they have experience and some NFL talents. I expected a rough start because i knew Indiana and Ohio State were really good. I expected a rough start on offense installing a new system without an offseason and needing to replace Hamler as a playmaker in the passing game. The first 2 game struggles made sense.

But not this horseshit!

How the **** does one of the better OL units in college all of a sudden forget how to block anybody? Maryland's run defense is awful and PSU couldn't block them at all. Sure, being down to the 3rd string RB hurts a bit but that would explain going from a very good run game to a merely average one, not going to a horrible one that can't move Maryland.

Sean Clifford. I know it's easy to bash him and he has not played well but the main reason is that nobody is open..EVER. I think they are averaging about 2 inches run after catch. That's because even when they complete a pass it's into a tight window with the DB right there to make the tackle. Herbstreit last week and Millen this week made a point of repeatedly saying that nobody is open downfield.

Part of that is playing freshmen WRs and part is on the gameplans. Do some bubble screens. Do some bunch formations. Do some motions. Do SOMETHING!! It is obvious that even a bad defense like Maryland is reading these remedial route combos. Couple that with being able to blow up the run game with just the DL and they can drop guys in coverage and play with no fear.

Last year Minnesota had a big year. People forget that they had a slow start on offense and nearly lost to Jackson State. Maybe this offense is really complex and takes time. If that's the case then they should have scaled it back. But maybe that's the problem as well. Maybe they scaled it back to nothing.

None of that explains how the OL forgot to block people. I can't understand that one at all.

The defense got burned a few times, but at least that can be attributed to just a handful of big plays given up on blown assignments. That stuff is fixable and they did get a shutout in the second half so adjustments were made.

Maybe they have recruited a bunch of dummies. RB Devyn Ford seems like he may be dumb. He was told not to score vs Indiana and he scored. Then last week, while getting their ***** kicked, he is trash talking after a 10 yard run. Clearly a genius.

As for Maryland, I'm not sure it was smart to call a flea flicker late in the game while up big.

Franklin running up the score on them last year was still fresh in their head.

They played backups midway into the 3rd quarter. Backup QB only threw 8 passes in about a quarter and a half. Franklin may be accused of running it up a few times in his tenure but not that game.

They scored a touchdown with under a minute left.
