To idiot liberals who want to ban AR-15: more killed by fists than ALL rifles in 2019

She is.

My wife bought me this one on July 4th this year. She is clearly a keeper!!

BENELLI-ETHOS-SPORT-12-GAUGE-30-NE.htm

So, for some reason my pic didn't show up. She bought me the Benelli Ethos.

Amazing weapon from an amazing wife.

All I ask, as a layman, is "What are the 10 best qualities of an AR-15?", especially as compared to other firearms.

I am concerned, that those 10 qualities you list are mostly geared toward it's ability to kill other people (particularly multiple people), in a very efficient way. It is not the best hunting rifle (although it will suffice). It is not the best at home protection (every article I've read says shotguns and revolvers are best).

What is the AR-15 "Best at"? And is there any argument to be made that guns that are "best at" and designed for multiple, human target interactions not be restricted in some way?

And I am a full 2nd amendment supporter and I fully understand gun rights are not about hunting and self defense only. I am partly being devil's advocate here for discussion purposes only.

The AR-15 is very, very user friendly. It shoots either 5.56 or .223, which are similar in size but where the 5.56 has a very slightly larger charge. The ammo produces very little recoil, making it excellent for women to use for practice and if necessary, self-defense.

As to hunting, the AR-15 and its ammo is perfect for hunting smaller game. Also, with some money and some knowledge, the owner of an AR-15 can in fact swap out the upper and make the rifle capable of shooting 7.62 for larger game.

A while ago, there was a spirited debate on a social media site, and someone stated that an AR-15 has no use as a hunting rifle. That’s another myth that needs debunking. ARs make excellent hunting rifles. In the smaller calibers, like the 5.56/.223 that is the common caliber they are chambered in, these accurate rifles work amazingly well as varmint and predator hunting rifles. There are many other popular calibers that make the AR-15, and it’s AR-10 predecessor, into stellar big game hunting rifles as well. What makes these rifles exceptional as hunting platforms, too, is the modular capabilities of the firearm. You can change the caliber simply by swapping the upper, making it so you can have a coyote rifle and a deer rifle using the same platform, and a pair of different uppers. There are many variations outside of the standard .223/5.56 calibers that make excellent deer, hog and other big game hunting calibers.

Further, the 5.56 or .223 ammunition is more affordable per round than shotgun shells. Finally, because of the relative affordability of the rounds (not nearly as much due to Chinese flu and rioting, but still) and the low recoil, the AR-15 is an awesome firearm to take to the range.

Going to the range is one of the most important actions for a gun owner. You become much more familiar with the firearm, aware of how to make the gun hot, how to make sure the gun is loaded and ready to use, how to clear the chamber, load the ammo, etc. So banning the AR-15 will absolutely, definitively result in less range time for almost all rifle owners. That is NEVER a good thing.

So low recoil, great accuracy, good hunting rifle, affordable ammo for use at the range, features encourage use at the range.

would you rather have your kid punched in the face or shot in the face? I'm sure fists kill more people, but i bet way more people survive being punched than shot. I'm not saying i an for banning AR 15s, but these types of arguments are dumb

You apparently are unaware of what constitutes an "argument." An argument is what you are attempting to prompt by writing something having nothing to do, at all, in any fashion, with the point I made (liberal idiots pant and whine over the dangers posed by an AR-15 but it is MUCH less likely to cause harm than knives, fists, or bricks for **** sake). You then make your stupid false analogy ("Would you rather have your kid punched in the face or shot in the face with an AR-14 that Biden banned?"), and pretend you made a point.

I would rather my kid not be an idiot and post stupid analogies having nothing to do with anything. Example:

Point: Swimming pools cause many, MANY more deaths per year than electric razors. Conclusion: according to actual data, electric razors actually pose less threat of harm than do pools.
Counterpoint analogy: "Yeah, would you rather your kid [why my kid? Why not me? Oh, emotional value, I get it] learn to swim in a pool or in a bathtub filled with electric razors that are plugged in?"
Reply: The issue is relative safety of two different potential dangers, sport. So in response, I would MUCH rather my kid be in contact with 100 electric razors not plugged in than be thrown into a pool 15' deep, no shallow end, with no adults present, no ladder to exit the pool, and with freezing water. See, I can make up phony analogies too!!

My oldest son just got his M4 in a few days ago. Me likey.

I had to get out a butter knife for some creeper/druggie/thieve/vandal who was in my backyard 2 nights ago. 6 foot fence and deep woods behind. He knocked over a very heavy concrete water fountain in the front of the house as well.
Ran off before I got to the house.
I had my American flag pulled down about 8 weeks ago.
This just goes to show you that any neighborhood, no matter how nice ,you still have to be vigilant.
Going to bait the ****** or ******* now.

Game on.

hahahaha. All on the up and up here. Motion sensors, candid camera, blinding spotlights and lots of coffee. Got a substation 1.5 miles from here.

My neighbors are already aware of the intruder. The neighbors on the other side of my house are out of town, which may be the issue in the first place.

While I'm here, anybody familiar with or shot a Kahr CW9 semi-auto? I like how slim and compact it looks but never fired one.

It's slim pickins in Commiefornia.

No, I haven't. Neither has neighbor, the gun freak. Looks pretty awesome:

Glock-inspired, polymer base, all metal slide and barrel.

7 rounds. Yeesh, with such stupid limit on rounds, why not go .45 ACP? Just one less round:

Test it out on the range first.

Finally, the California magazine limit is under appellate review after the awesome Judge Benitez of the 9th Circuit - Southern District (San Diego) overruled the arbitrary limit as unconstitutional. It may be gone relatively soon.

Couple of my favorite paragraphs from Judge Benitez:

Today, self-protection is most important. In the future, the common defense may once again be most important. Constitutional rights stand through time holding fast through the ebb and flow of current controversy. Needing a solution to a current law enforcement difficulty cannot be justification for ignoring the Bill of Rights as bad policy. Bad political ideas cannot be stopped by criminalizing bad political speech. Crime waves cannot be broken with warrantless searches and unreasonable seizures. Neither can the government response to a few mad men with guns and ammunition be a law that turns millions of responsible, law-abiding people trying to protect themselves into criminals. Yet, this is the effect of California’s large-capacity magazine law.

Some say that the use of “large capacity magazines” increases the lethality of gun violence. They point out that when large capacity magazines are used in mass shootings, more shots are fired, more people are wounded, and more wounds are fatal than in other mass shootings.[SUP]31[/SUP] That may or may not be true. Certainly, a gun when abused is lethal. A gun holding more than 10 rounds is lethal to more people than a gun holding less than 10 rounds, but it is not constitutionally decisive. Nothing in the Second Amendment makes lethality a factor to consider because a gun’s lethality, or dangerousness, is assumed. The Second Amendment does not exist to protect the right to bear down pillows and foam baseball bats. It protects guns and every gun is dangerous. “If Hellertells us anything, it is that firearms cannot be categorically prohibited just because they are dangerous.” Caetano v. Massachusetts, 136 S. Ct. 1027, 1031 (2016) (Alito, J. and Thomas, J., concurring); Maloney v. Singas, 2018 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 211546*19 (E.D.N.Y. Dec. 14, 2018) (striking down 1974 ban on possession of dangerous nunchaku in violation of the Second Amendment and quoting Caetano). “[T]he relative dangerousness of a weapon is irrelevant when the weapon belongs to a class of arms commonly used for lawful purposes.” Id.

If the “too lethal” standard is followed to its logical conclusion, the government may dictate in the future that a magazine of eight rounds is too lethal. And after that, it may dictate that a gun with a magazine holding three rounds is too lethal since a person usually fires only 2.2 rounds in self-defense. This stepped-down approach may continue[SUP]32[/SUP]until the time comes when government declares that only guns holding a single round are sufficiently lacking in lethality that they are both “safe” to possess and powerful enough to provide a means of self-defense.[SUP]33[/SUP]

[SUP]32[/SUP] Constitutional rights would become meaningless if states could obliterate them by enacting incrementally more burdensome restrictions while arguing that a reviewing court must evaluate each restriction by itself when determining its constitutionality. Peruta v. Cty. of San Diego, 824 F.3d 919, 953 (9th Cir. 2016) (Callahan, J., dissenting)

[SUP]33[/SUP] Artificial limits will eventually lead to disarmament. It is an insidious plan to disarm the populace and it depends on for its success a subjective standard of “necessary” lethality. It does not take the imagination of Jules Verne to predict that if all magazines over 10 rounds are somehow eliminated from California, the next mass shooting will be accomplished with guns holding only 10 rounds. To reduce gun violence, the state will close the newly christened 10-round “loophole” and use it as a justification to outlaw magazines holding more than 7 rounds. The legislature will determine that no more than 7rounds are “necessary.” Then the next mass shooting will be accomplished with guns holding 7 rounds. To reduce the new gun violence, the state will close the 7-round “loophole” and outlaw magazines holding more than 5 rounds determining that no more than 5rounds is “necessary.” And so it goes, until the only lawful firearm law-abiding responsible citizens will be permitted to possess is a single-shot handgun. Or perhaps, one gun, but no ammunition. Or ammunition issued only to persons deemed trustworthy.

Also I've never shot the Kahr but I've seen them before. I don't even know anyone that owns one. Still take it to a range and try it out. Or you could wait until after the election when prices drop and pick one up.
