Ed Oliver joins the list of NFL players in trouble with the law. - Charges dismissed

Coolie, anyone with a 1/2 brain and NO tinfoil hat can tell you have nothing to do with the actions of these grown men. Just because you influence some here doesn't put you in "Man of Men" status, CaRRY ON

SALUTE THE NATION

if I influence anyone here, they must be the most weak minded simpletons in the world

So glad we didn't draft him. The NFL is getting dangerously close to an image problem. Two other players were involved in a robbery.

How the **** did Coach not start this thread...

I've got better things to do. It's a slow time for the NFL. I'm more concerned about Tomlin's envelope for Harrison, which I suspect was cash. The dolt could cost us draft position again.

You ask and "yinz" shall receive.

But he's a minority, so it should even out...

He joins Quinton Dunbar, Deandre Baker,Cody Latimer, and former NFL linebacker Antonio Morrison that are in trouble with the law. This off season has been brutal for the majority of people let alone NFL players.

Covid-19 is claiming lives, while people with a lot of time on their hands more than normal find themselves making bad decisions. These players don't need any added incentive to screw up they do fine on their own.

Enter Ed Oliver who will not be jeopardizing his spot on the roster anymore than his top ten draft status was jeopardized entering the NFL, despite one erroneous youtube highlights so called draftniks claim. As some fans are wondering if there will even be a NFL, some of these NFL players are left wondering if there even will be a continuing NFL career. Be it as it may career altering or not these NFL players need to make better decisions while make better use of their time.

Things keep going the way they are ...... and Paul Crew can put together another prison team to play the guards........Longest Yard III....not coming to a theatre near you ....

Holy ****, you think Columbo? And you're the dolt if you don't think coaches have done this in the past for their players under extenuating circumstances. Those are the coaches a guy will run through a wall for. Tomlin has a lot of warts, but take your faux outrage over this and shove it up your ***.

Hmmmmm I'm wondering if possibly it could have been HARRISON's next drug test notice...................

Obviously the better things should include you not speculating on something that NOW has been refuted by three sources including the big mouth who said it originally.

You must have an insufferable conscious, to be so ignorant regarding your agenda.

“Slow time for the NFL..” This shows your complete asinine level of objectivity. The NFL is just as active as it has been with the exception of the physical aspect of the pandemic. The NBA, NHL are in a “slow time”.....MLB can’t get their act together because of the union and the commissioner’s lack of action. NFL has acted more than any other league mainly because they can do so without impacting the season starting in 4 months.

If Tomlin did give cash to Harrison in an envelope, the whole organization was in on it. From Art Rooney II down. You just don't have "petty cash" of $75,000 floating around in bills. And if you write a check, you better have it be a secret, non-business checking account, which takes higher ups to establish, fund and maintain.

Could Tomlin/Team have done this? Sure. It was a different time back in 2010 and the Steelers culture was really fighting the move to be less intimidating as it was part of what made us very successful from 2006-2010.

But whether or not it was done really isn't the question. It's whether or not WE CAN GET CAUGHT now 10 years later. You'd hope the Steelers covered their tracks a bit on this (or any other fines we secretly paid off). I mean if we are dumb enough to keep records of such transactions, we deserve to be fined.

Such records could be W-2's that included some sort of "bonus" or large per diem or something else. Maybe Harrison has a record on his bank account side of depositing $75,000 in cash like the Friday after the game/fine/envelope. Maybe the Steelers have a "petty cash" account that can be looked into and a $75,000 withdrawal was made that week.

Again, if you are stupid enough to have all these possible records lead back to the organization, you deserve to get caught. And in addition to league rules, to do this could also break TAX LAWS.

But whether or not it happened? I could definitely see both sides of it. I remember 2010 and this board, the Steelers and the fan base was LIVID at the fines and penalties our team was getting (which many thought singled our style of play out on purpose).

since I know you all care so much, the weapons charge is totally because the police on the scene say he failed the field sobriety test. Watching the video it is not real clear why they say that, he was not stumbling when walking and did not sway when lifting his foot off the ground.

He refused to blow into the breathalyzer so they took him to a hospital for a blood draw to check his alcohol level. (Which is the smarter thing to do)

If by some miracle it comes in below the legal limit, the weapons charge disappears since it is perfectly legal to carry a pistol in your truck, and he is only left with some traffic violations for failing to maintain lane.

of course odds are the blood work shows he was over the limit...

They've been babied all their lives because they play a game. You can't tell me that NFL players have coaches that are "Leaders of men" on one hand and then "They need the NFL to hold their hands while they are in the league because they can't control themselves". It's BS. They've gotten away with everything their entire lives. So the NFL telling them anything isn't going to work. Let him pay the same consequences as anyone else that gets caught DWI with a weapon.

young people make stupid mistakes. Hell, I made quite a few at that age. It isn't the coaches job to hold their hand any more than it was my bosses job to hold mine. That said, when I coached I had a bit of a reputation that I would bench anyone. I benched a few studs over the years and likely lost a few games for it. You know what? All but one of those kids got the message and didn't **** up again while playing for me. I have no respect for coaches who let bs behavior pass for their stud athletes. Hell, one of the best damn moves I ever saw with a coach...head coach of the team I ran the defense for (Jr. High) benched our stud MLB for off the field incident the week before the championship game. we lost. Big deal right? The kid was the HC's son. deep respect for Coach Mike.

anyway, yea, these athletes learn some things at a young age that should never be taught.
