Right now, it looks like 11 wins would pretty much guarantee a spot in the playoffs. In fact, if we win 11, with the loss being to either Atlanta, or NO, we would likely win the division, as that would entail sweeping Cincy, which would leave them unable to reach 11 wins. Baltimore or Cleveland would have to win out, as we would have the tiebreaker over both (division record for Baltimore, and conference record for Cleveland).

It's a bit too early to really do the wild card, but the competition is the division teams, along with KC, Miami, and SD, with Houston and Buffalo as long shots that need help. We can take care of KC ourselves, but it would really help if Denver can beat Miami this Sunday, as after this weekend Miami has by far the softest remaining schedule of the 4 loss teams. San Diego isn't going to survive, with Baltimore, New England, San Francisco, Denver, and KC to close out the season. If Houston can beat Cincy this weekend, they will have a chance with a fairly soft schedule down the stretch. Cincy needs this game badly, as they have us twice, plus host Denver, and play Cleveland on the road. Cleveland has 4 of 6 on the road. The Rats really need to win at NO this Monday, as they have road games at Miami, and Houston, and have to host SD, and Cleveland, with only a home game vs Jax that can be considered a breather. With Cleveland, Denver, NE, and Green Bay left, Buffalo has no chance. Looking at this realistically, if we don't win the division, Miami, KC, and either Baltimore, or Cincy will be the competition for a wild card at 10 wins. If these teams stumble to the point where 9 wins is the cutoff, then Houston and Cleveland may enter the picture. 11 wins locks up a spot, either division, or wild card.

Let's play the games and then count the ones we win first.

This is where the FUN begins....cream will rise, turds will begin to sink..............

Given the inconsistencies they've shown this season, I see them going either 3-2 or 2-3 the rest of the way. Which one will be determined by the Falcons game, which is a toss up given how abysmal the Steelers have been on the road.

I see them splitting the Saints and Chiefs games, as well as the two games with the Bengals.

There's NO ******* WAY this team totally kills it down he stretch, going 4-1 or 5-0, based on how they've played so far.

how are they over the past 5 games?

how are they over the past 5 games?

They looked good/sharp in only two of those wins, and they were never really in the game against the ******* Jets. **** balances out over the course of a season.

This is not an 11 or 12 win team, IMO.

I'll take the STEELERS, but thats expected from a fan such as me. A win is a win, sharp or dull. 4-1 last five and bye just at the right time.

Salute the nation

I would be thrilled with 11 wins. Personally, I'm holding out hope for 10 wins...i have us losing to the chiefs and splitting with the bengals.

We really need to win out for a good chance in the post season. At this point it would get us to the second seed and allow us to have a bye. That extra week in preparation would be huge. Home field advantage would be huge. There is the chance then that the championship game could be in the Burgh which would also be huge for the team. Instead sending them on the road after a home game with a wild card likely gets them bumped. Being the wild card likely gets them bumped.

I actually have a good feeling about this, this is the latest bye week I can remember us having in a long time and our team is healthy for once too. We seem to have found ourselves on offense and now's the perfect time for our run game to soar. It's all about if our defense gets better now.

With the erratic and inconsistent play that this team has come to be identified with the past three years, how in the hell can anyone possibly predict the next 5 games. Nothing this group does surprises me under this coaching regime. They play 2-1/2 games lights out against three pretty damn good opponents then play like crap the next two against bad football teams so who knows what the remainder of the season has in store. I'm not sold and won't be a bit surprised if they miss the playoffs for a third straight year. For that matter I wouldn't be surprised if they get in either. They're just way too inconsistent and you don't know what you're getting from week to week.

I dont like BYEs in the playoffs...............too many times that team comes out cold and rusty vs a Wildcard team thats streaked into the playoffs and has one win and little pressure. We were one of those wildcarders as well as the Giants, Packers, Ravens........all whom knocked off higher seeds enroute to a Super Bowl appearance. Lord knows this team and its cold starts.....i dont want the heartbreak. I almost hope to finish as a three seed or lower. Wildcard teams have a recent history of doing very well.

I love the way things are shaping up with potential playoffs seedings looming.....this is one of the few times we control our own destiny--we can take care of our own business.....we play two teams whom we are competing for playoff spots directly. Cincy twice and KC.

Weathers gettin bad....but its our time we finish strong.

I can't be optimistic , we seem to fail every time I am....

But

We're not in a bad spot right now

11 Wins??
Lets see whose next?
Saints. 4-7 Team that is playing bad ball especially defensively. Based on trends, a loss at home.
Bengals Steelers are tied with the BenGals and COULD easily beat them in their house and at home. Split.
Chiefs Coach T saw the Chiefs lose to the Raydahs so today his attitude is "we got dis, we're at home" Loss
Atlanta Another 4-6 team that just plain stinks but could win their division! Toss up.

Good luck with 11 wins

The Steelers have the talent on offense to win 11 games this year and the talent on the defense to win 7 games. I think they go 10-6, but agree with Punxy's assessment.

We go 3-2the rest of the way...

we win at home and lose on the road...

Which means we split with Cincy and lose to Atlanta on the road...

BTW---Atlanta is the pick of the week this week...take them at home against the Brownies and give the 3 points..
