Super Bowl LIV Chiefs vs 49ers

Halftime entertainment aside a couple takeaways:
1. The Niners play calling was abysmal to close out the game.
2. If you want to win the SB you don't need the best QB in the league, but you need a top five guy and the best doesn't hurt. The Steelers best consider that fact.

21-30 256 yds 1 TD 1 Int 93 passer rating
One of those is a SB MVP stat line the other is Roethlisberger in XLIII. hmmmm?

Those stats aren't even remotely close to each other. And the people harping on Mahomes because of his perfo in the super bowl, are the same ones that argue about Ben and his run up to super bowl 40. Mahomes was lights out in the playoffs, had a bad game against A VERY good defense, and still came thru when he needed to...exactly like our very own Big Ben. Mahomes deserves every bit of hype he gets.

I think he deserves it, as all he does is win. Three come-from-behind wins in this post-season is impressive. Stats wise, wasn't pretty, but a 4th quarter, double digit comeback in the SB deserves the hype. Plus, he seems like a good, nice guy, which doesn't hurt his place right now. I don't know or haven't heard of too many people that hate on him. That can change quickly, though. People can be petty for no reason.

He isn't even in position to win with the defense holding them to 20 points, getting a sack on 4th down and then getting a pick. He didn't win that game by himself. His TD passes and run combine aren't 20 yards. I get it. He's the greatest QB to ever play and everyone loves him. But seriously any other QB plays the exact same game and nobody would be rushing to give him an MVP trophy. Again, if Brees does the exact same thing people would be talking about how bad he played. Same with Ben.

Way to paint with a broad brush. They aren't the same people. Ben should have been MVP in his 2nd SB. Mahomes shouldn't. Looking at the entire playoff picture is absurd when dealing with the SB MVP. That's non sense. Mahomes had a 78 Qb rating while Ben had a 93. Yet one is the SB MVP the other isn't. It's clear to see why.

It seems it’s all about the behind the scenes politics in the NFL. Faneca doesn’t get in.....too many Steelers this class,even though he was deserving. But at least Donnie got in.

NFL needs new poster boy Mahomes is the appointed one....Brady is out.

He didn’t have his greatest game,but when it counted he did his thing. Don’t forget how young he is. A lot are comparing his stats to Bens run.
How about comparing to Ben’s first SB. Was he like 9-21.....22.6 QB rating. 2 int. Can’t remember if there was a fumble in there as well. Fast willie 75 yd run. Randle El throwing the Td pass.
Compare his stats to that.

Fair is Fair. I don’t get the hate for Mahomes. Obviously we will be hearing too much about him because of the media. He seems like a good guy,time will tell with fame & fortune his next steps to conquer. I get the feeling we will be talking about him for a long long time. And yes. I would take him on my team any frigging day.

Ben should have won it. He threw the perfect pass to Tone. Orchestrated the drive just as Mahomes did to win his SB I would have given it to Deebo for his pick 6 before SH.

Ben threw arguably the greatest pass for a TD in the closing seconds in Super Bowl history. Case closed IMO.

It's not like he carried them all game. It was a close call for mvp. I don't think they could get it wrong, no matter who they picked.

Really don't get your hate for Mahomes. If you think for one second the chiefs win that game without Mahomes, you're out of your mind. The drive that put them ahead, he was 6 for 6 with a TD pass. That's clutch. Thats mvp status.

If you think for one second that he was the MVP you're out of your mind. I don't get all the love/worship for the guy in that game. He didn't have one throw that any NFL QB couldn't make. His defense kept him in the game and the TDs were from less than 5 yards. His stats were not good at all which means other QBs could have done just as well. Jackson could have won that game. Again the defense won the game. They scored 37 against GB and 27 against the Vikings. They only scored 20 against KC. You think KC wins that game if they give up 37 points? You're out of your mind. They were only held to 20 points or under 3 times this year. I've vote for a defensive player as the MVP before Mahomes.

You mean this easy throw where he flicks it 40+ yards without stepping into it while being hit as he threw? Mahomes had to hold the ball for the long routes to develop. He had to wait to see if the CB bit on the dig route by Watkins or if he stayed disciplined and took away the corner route to Hill. He bit on Watkins so Mahomes had the corner to Hill. By that time, he was under pressure and it was a throw not many QBs could make.

Mahomes is the best QB in the NFL and he's still learning. If you had the choice of any QB in the NFL and picked anybody but Mahomes, you'd be out of your mind.

You fail to recognize how SF was playing them, and that he was under constant pressure all game. SF defense is no joke, and not many QB's would have won that game. Jackson absolutely would NOT have won that game. They were DOWN 10 points going into the fourth quarter.. Jackson, and the Ravens, aren't built to come from behind.

But in your mind, you give it to a defensive player (this after clamoring for the RB, Williams to get it), which ONE defensive player had such an amazing game he should have taken home the MVP?

Breeland had the "best" game, but 7 tackles, 1 int is hardly MVP material. So lets go to sacks... Frank Clark had KC's lone sack, he added 1 tackle to that stat line, so again, not MVP. The defense played well as a WHOLE. but really only shut them down in the fourth, right around the same time Mahomes flipped the switch and went full on clutch mode.

Lets dive a little deeper into your Williams argument. So again, 17 carries, 104 yards, 1 TD, 4 catches, 29 yards, 1 TD. Good numbers, not great numbers either. Oh but he didn't turn the ball over you say, and you bring up Mahomes having two fumbles, even tho they were both recovered by KC. Williams had his own fumble, which was recovered by KC as well. SOMETIMES, it's not based just on stats. SOMETIMES, it was who played the biggest at the most important time. That was Mahomes.

Here's a breakdown on the big play to Hill. Amazing play by Mahomes. He threw it before Hill made his break. Only a few QBs could make that play.
