College Football Bowl Thread

geez, thank GOD that one is over with, talk about a snoozefest.

Oh, and LOL at Miami not scoring a single point against LA-Tech. I don't care if they had 20 kids sitting out, not a single point?? That's sad.

They lost to FIU this year when they were trying
They’re horrible

pretty wild ending to that game for EMU, lol. that qb of theirs will be able to cherish the memory of slapping two Pitt players in their facemasks and being escorted off the field in shame, as his final acts as a college football player.

congrat, Pitt. you didn't eated the ***** tonight.

Bowl Season starting to get in full swing with 5 games on Friday

Military Bowl 12:00 ESPN
North Carolina vs Temple
Mack Brown is doing a great job building UNC back up. Hey Texas, how did running off Mack Brown work out for you? I guess about as well as FSU running off Jimbo Fisher. Temple is tough on defense but has a sputtering offense. Thursday was not a great day for the ACC with Miami getting shutout and Pitt squeaking out a win vs a 6-6 MAC team.

New Era Pinstripe Bowl - 3:20 ESPN
Michigan State vs Wake Forest
MSU had a very disappointing year. Their QB Lewerke is streaky. Wake is much better statistically on offense but the ACC was not very good this year and the bowls so far are not making them look any better thus far. Wake only scored 3 vs Clemson.

Academy Sports Texas Bowl - 6:45 ESPN
25 Oklahoma State vs Texas A&M
an SEC vs Big 12 game. Will this game change any opinions on what may happen with LSU vs Oklahoma? Umm, no. Minds are likely made up. TAM is just OK. They always show flashes but i don't like their QB Mond. Could be an entertaining game

Holiday Bowl - 8:00 FS1
22 USC vs 16 Iowa
The Holiday bowl has the well earned reputation of being one of the most exciting games since so many end up high scoring. Then you add Iowa to the mix and high scoring usually does not follow. On paper, USC should win this with their WRs and emerging QB Kedon Slovis. They may have too much speed for Iowa, but Iowa is always in that situation and they often choke the life out of opponents. USC tends to struggle vs tough teams. I can't decide if USC wins by 20 or Iowa wins a close one which is pretty much the only way Iowa wins.

Iowa DE AJ Epenesa sure would look good in black and gold. Reminds me of Cam Heyward. Could he last to round 2? Tuitt lasted to round 2 because speed DEs tend to get drafted higher than big, physical 3-4 type DEs.

How did Clay Helton not get fired? It's a head scratcher because most people just assumed it. Most had Urban Meyer penciled in there. Maybe they did plan on Meyer and he screwed them over by balking at the last minute. If they were going to stick with Helton, they should have said so much earlier because it hurt their recruiting.

Cheez-It Bowl 10:15 ESPN
Air Force vs Washington State
who doesn't look forward to the tradition of the cheez-it bowl? Mike Leach's air raid offense vs a team familiar with real air raids. The over under is 69 so this one should be exciting. I think Air Force's discipline has them come out on top.

Happy for the Pitt program.

I’ve been telling my Pitt alum brother, cousins and friends all season that Pitt football should join the MAC.
I think this game supports my case..

They should as they will never be able to complete with Clemson, UNC, FSU, Va Tech and VA. They may pull an upset once every 3 years, but Hell, Ohio or Kent State can do that, too.
Watching Pitt remind me what it would be like to be a Browns fan. If you invest into a game or season, you will be let down sooner or later.

Saying that though, the game was a pretty good one. Two mediocre teams slugging it.

UNC, Va Tech and UVA can't compete with Clemson either. FSU is in its own category right now, but they aren't going to get to Clemson's level anytime soon.

Pitt is at such a lower level with recruiting, coaching and fan support, they couldn't reach the bottom level teams in the conference, let alone the better programs.

They rank 7th in the ACC in recruiting for 2020, ahead of both UVA and Va Tech. Coaching is a toss up in the ACC outside of Dabo. Fan support is ahead of the bottom level teams in the ACC as well. The entire ACC Coastal is clumped together with average teams.

The ACC should swap Pitt and Florida State’s divisions. Pitt should be in the division with Syracuse and BC and FSU should be in the division with Miami.

Pitt has a lot of underclassmen playing, so unless a number of them on defense opt for the draft, they'll be better next year.
OC will be back for his second year, but they need a RB bigger than 160 pounds.

Big game for UNC putting up 55 on Temple. Mack Brown is a great coach.

Solid win for Mich State

This OK State vs Tex A&M game is interesting. The analysis I heard of this game was that TAm is really good because their ONLY losses are to highly ranked teams. Sure that reasoning makes when it's 2, maybe 3 losses, but 5 losses? I think the more accurate way to look at it is they lost to every decent team they played.

Ok state up 14 points early. Fear the mullet

Not anymore.... 24-21 A&M. I guess losing to Bama, Clemson, LSU, Auburn, and Georgia doesn't mean you can't beat a good team?

No, it doesn't mean you can't beat a good team. The so called analyst was basically saying TAM was like a top 15 team who only lost top great teams. That's horseshit. Today I think TAM showed who they are once again, a middle of the road team, just like Oki State was this year. Pretty even matchup and close game.

Iowa looking dominant vs USC. The score getting out of hand in the second half after USC's QB got injured. Iowa was in control up until then, but the wheels came off USC at that point.

Biggest surprise of the day is Air Force vs Wash State with only 17 points on the board a few minutes before half. The over/under was 72. Somehow 2 high powered offense facing 2 suspect defense has become a low scoring defensive battle. I should probably bet the second half over.

A lot of potentially great games today. Definitely an exciting packed day of college football.

WOW.. can't give an SEC team an ounce of credit huh? You were all about putting them down for losing to top 8 teams while they were down but when they storm back and win no credit at all. Typical.

Also Iowa was not "in control" when USC's QB got hurt. It was 28-24. It was also a cheap shot on the QB. The ball was gone and he drove the QB to the turf bouncing his head off the ground.

Franklin has his typical team ready for a big game already down 3-0 to Memphis.

So you side-step Texas A&M's COMEBACK victory w/ Air Force's win??? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

You never cease to amaze...
