And that ladies and gentlemen, is life after Ben Roethlisberger

Name one QB that Cowher drafted besides Ben? Finding a franchise QB is no easy proposition. It took nearly 20 years between Bradshaw and Ben. Get ready. We’re going to have LOTS of Ducks and Rudolph’s before we find our next franchise QB.

They really need to start addressing the QB position.
I’m not sure how much longer Ben can go

When you don't bring in a vet and take it for granted an aging QB will stay healthy yeah this is what you get.

Everyone thought Rudolph was Ben’s successor. Folks were happy to see Landry leave when he did. Hindsight is 20/20, but I don’t see us bringing in a veteran given who we had on the roster at the beginning of the season.

I don't think we needed to necessarily draft a QB until now as we have had Ben. There are serviceable free agents we could have signed as backups to at least give us a fighting chance. This Landry Jones, Mason Rudolph, Duck Devlin trifecta is epically bad. Way worse than what we endured between Bradshaw and Ben. I'd take Bubby, O'Donnell or Kordell any day of the week over those last 3 hacks.

EVERYTIME anyone has mentioned addressing the QB position the response has been that Ben has plenty of years left. When they did address it with Rudolph, it was viewed by some (including Ben) as a controversial move.

I'm back to being torn on that Minkah trade. Without him, we might have won 3 games, as our safeties were **** without him, and honestly, I believe our defense caused every win this season. Also without him, we might have a top 3 to 5 pick to possibly get a QB.

Nothing controversial anymore when Ben goes down.
That’s the FO’s/coaches fault for not being ready.

This team is a QB, RB, TE away from being legit contenders again.

Those were probably the two of the best (not sure about Brister) that we had during that 20 year period. I might add Maddox to that list too.

These two drafted by Cowher certainly were not franchise QBs but O’Donnell brought them to a SB and Kordell to some good seasons and an AFCC Game against Elway and the Broncos.

Franchise QBs are difficult to find and you’re not getting them where the Steelers generally have drafted.

Wtf is wrong with MR. why wasn’t he in the back getting X-rays..etc. if he was that hurt go the **** back and find out. Don’t ***** out

He was obviously injured and in pain from the obvious moment the injury happened. And, even when told Duck was going back in and he was still grimacing in pain, he put his helmet back on like he wanted to go back on the field. I guess you missed all of that.

No guarantee that a low #1 pick would be a hit. Minkah was as close to a guarantee you get. He was a brilliant pickup.

Never wish for loses.

We never draft high enough to go from one franchise QB to another. Even when we have an off season, we still are in the back half of the draft. We won't see an opportunity to draft a QB high unless we **** the bed next year prior to the strike season coming up in 2021.

Roethlisbergers, Brady’s, Manning’s don’t grow on trees.

But there are guys like Russell Wilson, Drew Brees(change of scenery)
That can be coached cause they are students of the game. It just seems like the coaching staff for the Steelers don’t do that with their guys.
But I don’t know what they do coaching wise. Just speculation

A. People here are going to be disappointed when next years backups are Rudolph and duck and we don’t sign some nfl vet.... but that’s exactly what’s going to happen

B. If we draft a guy in the top ten he is going to look a lot like these two for a year or two anyhow

C. Hodges was a raw developmental guy... he was like two to three years from being solid backup worthy... IDK why a decent preseason and a cool nickname made people think he should be starting now... i like the kids long term potential, but all he is right now is Baker maysfield with an average arm...

D. Do you know whats a dumb idea, rebuild you offense with all young guys when your defense is peaking.... trading AB and not replacing him with a useful vet was a mistake... not having a second pass blocking back available besides conner after nix went down was a mistake
Not utilizing the TEs... mistake...

This offense has a lot of issues that have nothing to do with the QB...

Today gave me flashbacks of awful qbs of seasons past..Get well Ben. Just one more superbowl buddy.

But they got CMT. COY candidate.

Yes, the coach who is threatening to go top with the most consecutive non-losing seasons. Who cares if we don't win Supper Bowls with our franchise QB, (hell, we don't even win play off games anymore). But who cares, we have another non-loosing season and our irreplaceable HC being nominated to the prestigious COY award. What else should we, Steelers fans, wish for?

Pieces are falling in place.
Washington is looking to be ready. If Juju can stay healthy, the WR’s should be fine.
Dionte Johnson has shown flashes as well.

Conner is injury riddled. Snell is serviceable but not a feature back.
The Steelers need another RB.

They also need a healthy, smart TE. Heath Miller 2.0

Landry Jones is better than Duck and Rudolph.

Running down Duck's arm strength when he was not in football six weeks ago, no QB coach and a game scheme that places him in third down and long with a full bore rush. How many times in the last three he had no room to follow through with a pass. Yes when Ben is gone us old timers that remember Malone Stout and Baba will say once more be happy we had him

For the youngsters who don't remember life before Ben, this is what the 21 years between him and Terry Bradshaw was like.

Non only the youngsters may have forgotten about these 20+ years to find another franchise QB, it seems that the Rooneys did too. Otherwise why waste Big Ben's talent with this high school HC.

bringing in a #1 back and a vet QB to back-up Ben should be priorities in the off-season. You have to be more prepared when your starting QB is 37 y.o. and coming off elbow surgery. Conner is just too injury-prone and Snell & Samuel are not #1s either.

Fans liked him but that has nothing to do with making good off-season decisions. And in the area at QB they didn't. You are exhausting when it comes to anything that might bring fault to Tombert. But it was an area of fail dispite your denial.

How did this become a discussion about Tomlin, until you brought it up.

I think we are stuck with Rudolph and Duck for next year. There won't be any change. Fichner will still be here too. Don't expect much winning next year unless Ben comes back like superman.
