More than 500 law professors say Trump committed ‘impeachable conduct’

More than 500 legal scholars have signed on to an open letter asserting that President Trump committed “impeachable conduct” and that lawmakers would be acting well within their rights if they ultimately voted to remove him from office.
<section>
“There is overwhelming evidence that President Trump betrayed his oath of office by seeking to use presidential power to pressure a foreign government to help him distort an American election, for his personal and political benefit, at the direct expense of national security interests as determined by Congress,” the group of professors wrote. “His conduct is precisely the type of threat to our democracy that the Founders feared when they included the remedy of impeachment in the Constitution.”

Holy cow, that means A LOT!! I mean, there are perhaps 600 lawyers in America, right?

Oh, the United States actually has approximately 1,300,000 lawyers. Daaaamn.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/740222/number-of-lawyers-us/

So 500 out of 1.3 million is ... 0.0038%.

My God, 0.0038% of lawyers think Trump engaged in impeachable conduct!! Why that works out to one lawyer out of every 30,000.

How'd that "x number of lawyers signed something about the Russia thing" argument work out for you?? At least that had slightly above one lawyer out of 30,000 ...

Libs love their useless "consensus" things. Just like it isn't science, it isn't law.

Libs love their useless "consensus" things. Just like it isn't science, it isn't law.

Here is their problem though: There is no consensus for impeachment in America. None.

Only a few pollsters have asked whether Trump’s fate should be decided by the impeachment process or at the ballot box. The new Monmouth University Poll asked people to agree or disagree with this statement: “If you want Trump out of office, it makes more sense to focus on next year’s election rather than go through an impeachment process now.” 59 percent agreed while 34 percent disagreed. In the poll, of those who supported impeaching him, 39 percent agreed that focusing on next year’s election provided a better opportunity to remove him from office. An early October NPR/PBS News Hour/Marist Poll produced similar results: 58 percent said that they thought the future of Donald Trump’s presidency should be decided at the ballot box, 37 percent by the impeachment process. 93 percent of Republicans and 65 percent of independents opted for the ballot box. Sixty-nine percent of Democrats wanted it decided by the impeachment process.

Oh, and ... "The new Monmouth poll found that only 24 percent had a lot of trust in how the House impeachment inquiry has been conducted so far, while 29 percent had a little trust and 44 percent no trust at all."

A mere 73% question or outright distrust the impeachment process? Ignore the facts behind the curtain. And those lunatic Republicans should be ignored. I mean, they're ignorant, beer-swilling blue collar jackasses. Independents? Uhh, must be the same, I guess.

I guess my question to you and your brilliant, unparalleled legal mind, is if Trump, Giuliani and Nunes are all so clearly innocent of any wrongdoing, that they were simply doing their jobs and acting in good faith by looking into 1. general corruption in Ukraine, and 2. possible criminal activity by the former Vice President and his son, why in the world have they been so secretive about it?

Do you know how many people were on that line, when Trump and Zelensky spoke, from the U.S. alone? From all accounts, 11. 11 people.

Apparently, the Washington Post thinks that Melania talks in code through the outfits she wears.

Anybody want to debate whether TDS is real, and disturbing?

Jim Cramer: These are the best jobs numbers of our lives

CNBC’s Jim Cramer said Friday no matter your view on President Donald Trump there’s no denying we’re living in the best labor market in more than a generation.

“You can’t contradict that these are the best numbers of our lives. You can’t,” Cramer, 64, said following the government report showing the U.S. economy created a better-than-expected 266,000 nonfarm jobs in November, with the unemployment rate dipping to 3.5%, matching a 50-year low. Economists had expected the jobless rate to hold steady at 3.6% last month.

“People don’t want to say good things” about the economy, said Cramer, echoing comments he made Thursday evening on “Mad Money,” telling investors: “Don’t let the armageddonists and the negativists and the hucksters scare you away from owning stocks.”

Referring to Trump, Cramer said Friday on “Squawk Box,” shortly after the jobs report was released, “It doesn’t matter whether you hate him or like him, these are real numbers.”

“This is the best number I’ve ever seen in my life,” Cramer said, zeroing in on the unemployment rate. “Fifty years ago, that number was a curse. Now it’s a blessing.” He added, “I don’t see inflation. I don’t see recession.”

Cramer said the strong U.S. job market is going to allow America to win the trade war with China. “The president can walk away from the table with this number.” He added: “In the end, the Chinese are going to have to put jobs here.”

Every fair-minded American citizen should be elated about this news.

More than 500 legal scholars have signed on to an open letter asserting that President Trump committed “impeachable conduct” and that lawmakers would be acting well within their rights if they ultimately voted to remove him from office.

The signers are law professors and other academics from universities across the country,
including Harvard, Yale, Columbia, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Michigan and many others. The open letter was published online Friday by the nonprofit advocacy group Protect Democracy.

Unka George musta given Tibsy a good chunk of cash to put that piece of misdirection out there.

Top lawyers who helped the Obama White House craft and hold to rules of conduct believe President Donald Trump and his staff will break ethics norms meant to guard against politicization of the government — and they’ve formed a new group to prepare, and fight.

United to Protect Democracy, which draws its name from a line in President Barack Obama’s farewell address that urged his supporters to pick up where he was leaving off, has already raised a $1.5 million operating budget, hired five staffers and has plans to double that in the coming months. They’ve incorporated as both a 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4), allowing them to operate as a nonprofit but participate in some forms of political advocacy as well.

“We need an organization that is specifically and holistically focused on that worst-case scenario,” Bassin said.
