Between the Jets, the Titans, the Bucs and the Jaguars, you are looking at the 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st worst teams in the league, followed only by the Raiders (who you KNOW would kick our *** this year.)

We've played three of them so far, lost to two and beat one with a late FG. And now, we are heading down to face the Titans. Arguably one of the better of the "crappy teams".

Ah, the irony.

I have to admit this game feels like a "double trap" game where the players KNOW it's a trap game so they PLAN for it to be a trap game so they feel as though they have prepared themselves so well that they can't possibly lose so that they in fact come in flat and have themselves a trap game.

That and the general idea that the coaching staff puts forth the usual ridiculous game-plan and then refuses to make any changes whatsoever when they see that the Titans are completely countering everything the Steelers are doing, opting instead to stand on the sidelines with aviator sunglasses, contemplating infinity.

They could do themselves a favor and if they win the damn coin toss put the offense out there to try and score first instead of putting a struggling defense out there to try and get a 3 and out. That would be a better start, IMO.

I have always liked the option of being able to score at the end of the half and get the ball back at the start of the second. Our offense first series was a three and out, followed by a turnover on it's next possession deep in our territory. The defense as wounded as it was held the other team to a field goal which in today's game is good. The offense had a chance to build a lead but did not. Those guys stunk up the joint for the first three quarters of the game. They only needed 21 points to win the damn game and failed to do anything meaningful until garbage time. I think the best unit should be on the field and right now it is the defense that is playing the bottom of its roster.

I'll have to disagree with the best unit being the defense, they're playing better, but if the Steelers are relying on the defense to make a stop late in a game that's not the situation I'd want to see. I'd rather the offense have to make first downs to win the game or be losing and need a score late in the game rather than put the onus on the defense.

That's just my opinion of what I've seen this year.

Actually the first series was a 6 play drive that went 2 yards. They kept everything so close to the LOS that the Jets just needed to play 8 in the box to stop everything the Steelers were doing. The offensive game plan was offensive. They gave the Jets too much credit and played them like they were playing the Broncos. Short quick passes and screens when the defenses' weakness was the secondary. Just stupidity on display.

We could always take the ball, which would then give us the option of returning an interception for a touchdown at the end of the first half and again to start the second half.

Everything said now is in hindsight. When the players watch the film it is in hindsight. However, the game plan was put in before the game. So it's perfectly reasonable to criticize the game plan after the fact since we can't criticize it before the fact. Even in the game thread people were upset with all the short passes and screens. Which is in total contrast to what the offense did the previous two games. It was almost as if the coaches thought the Jets secondary was great and their front 7 sucked. That's how they called the game and why they got their *** handed to them.

I don't really care about deferring or taking the ball. It shouldn't matter in the out come of this game.

I prefer to defer. If your up, and you get the ball after the half you have a chance to build on your lead. If your down, you have the chance to change the momentum. Im hoping the team can get up for coach munch they way they got up for mean joe. If not, and we are depending on captain cliche to motivate them then we are doomed.
