I've see their QB plays crappy when temp is below 40deg. Will thier pay standard for RB be a factor?

My main question is how fast our STEELERS team starts this game. As the opponent gets tougher, our start needs quicker. A lot here are praising Coach Tomlin for his amazing job to be,.... Well...... Just average. They say he could be a whole lot worse but one also needs to flip the coin as he could be a whole lot better as well.

Point being, here is a team by which he can be better gauged on how & where this STEELERS team is headed. A win here will merit more positive talk of Coach Tomlin.

Mason is growing and he will have a better game with some down field completions. Washington continues to catch due to his and Mason's past, JuJu will be involved as well and if R.Fitchner can't get him involved then he is a bigger bonehead than imagined.

New-look Rams aim for strong finish after near collapse in first half of season

The Rams’ season appeared on the verge of possible collapse a few weeks ago. Then they defeated the woeful Atlanta Falcons and the winless Cincinnati Bengals.

The Rams are 5-3 and in third place in the division heading into a road game Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib, acquired in headline-grabbing trades in March 2018, were dealt late last month in a span of 14 days.

In between those deals, the Rams traded for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Linebacker Clay Matthews, sidelined for three games because of a broken jaw, is expected to be on the practice field this week as he and the Rams assess when he might return, McVay said.

But wide receiver Brandin Cooks’ status remains uncertain.

Last week, Cooks met with a specialist in Pittsburgh regarding concussions, McVay said. Cooks suffered his second concussion of the season in the Rams’ victory over the Bengals.

Cooks remains in the concussion protocol, a team official said. He was not present in the locker room during the 45-minute period open to the media.

“We’re not going to do anything to put him in harm’s way,” McVay said. “That’s the No. 1 priority ... not only with Brandin but with all of our players.

“And we’ll be very smart with how we ease him back into this whenever that time comes if that’s the decision we make.”

I have a gut feeling that the Steelers will play their best game this season and dominate the Rams who I just don't believe in. They have some excellent pieces on defense in Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey. On offense Jared Goff and Todd Gurley do not scare me and I think we can handle both.

I think they will open up the passing game some for Mason who I think will perform well, but still a relatively conservative offensive plan as he continues to grow in this offense.

It's all about TOs. If the Steelers get TOs they'll win. If not it'll be a long day. The Rams are not a good team and they average almost 2 TOs a game.

No sense worrying about the inevitable... but hopefully the O can make some plays when Donald isn't terrorizing the backfield.

What you say is very true and also realize the STEELERS D has been very good at getting TOs. Would be nice like the 49ers game to get 4-5 but also have our little more experienced O take it up a notch and score more points in that regards.

So if the Rams give two away as normal then I see us getting one more or more than that. It will come down to if our O, including play caller, can capitalize. I think we can and win by 5.

I think with the weather, we can limit their offense, but their defense is pretty good, especially going against a young QB. Donald, Fowler, Matthews, Littleton, Weddle, Ramsey.

So lets game plan for this week....

Special Teams
Don't **** up. I mean, that is all we really have in a return guy. Same advice to coverage and XP/FG I guess. I guess also be aggressive trying to pin punts near the goalline and leave the Rams the longest porch possible.

Defense
Stay aggressive up front and pressure both Goff and Gurley. Yea, it is going to cost us a few chunk plays, but the aggression up front is helping create turnovers on the back end. The defense isn't shutdown, it is opportunistic. Play the strength and don't try to be something you aren't.


Offense

Isolate Donald as best you can. I'd say get help from FB but not sure of Rosies status after last week.

I know folks are going to hate this, but keep a fair amount of swing passes going to the RB's. Why? Because teams stack the box against MR and for various reasons we can't get deep (MR struggles, WR open struggles, protection issues, etc). The other way to loosen the box is to widen the field. The entire point of the swing pass and WR bubble screens are to keep the defense from getting to tight int he box. This isn't the only thing they need to do, but they need to keep some of this going love it or hate it.

Find the medium routes. Quick Slant, cross, TE pop passes, hooks, etc. They don't seem to like throwing over the middle with MR...it all goes to the sidelines and even then they don't throw out routes. But you gotta get something going. I think McDonald and Vannet (sp?) should be featured more.

Keep taking the downfield shots.

If you get a lead, keep moving the chains. Everyone ******* about blowing leads, but the offense can help protect a lead but getting first downs. Being predictable with run-run-longpass is not conducive to winning...keep the foot on the pedal and keep moving the chains.

Protect the ball. For ***** sake, protect the ball. I get it, turnovers happen, but secure the ball. Focus on the ball. Make Plays for MR. Lots of chatter about Ben's first year here but what I don't see is something Ward said..."Make plays for the QB". I know, veteran recievers and RB and whatnot. Still, you wanna win you gotta make plays.


My Key Players for Offense not named MR are Vance McDonald and DJ. Get those two active and life will be good.
My Key Players for Defense - The guys up front. Dupree, Watt, and Cam are balling. Would love to see Hargrave or someone else start feeding on that success as well.


That is my quick points. What say y'all.
