Eagles eyeing Bud Dupree trade?

Fascinating that he's suddenly playing well in his contract year...

First off it isn' t suddenly. He had a pretty decent year last year as well. I'm not advocating BUD but I am advocating fair evaluation. Even the GREAT TJ WATT can't get a sack on every play. Jeepers

Salute the natio

Watt has played 5.5 games, is one sack shy of Duprees sack total from all last year, already has more QB hits than Dupree had all last year, same number of pass defensed, and is half way to Dupree's tackle total from all last season.
Dupree wasn't that good last year, especially considering Watt draws all the attention.

We get NOTHING for him next year when we release him, surely they know better than to throw $50-60 million in a contract keeping this guy, right?

You would ******* hope so, they did throw 9 million at him this year though.

yeah, I think that was just to be done with him, not restructuring anything into the future that would count as dead cap money

we have seen past few games tj in a 2 point stance I have saying for 2 years Bud needs at times to be in a 2 pt stance and preferably wide as with his 6"6 270 frame he has incredible burst and on a stunt and twist/cross blitz you will get the RT & rg shifted leaving bush or Williams to lay a smack down on the QB. if TJ misses the game vs Miami Bud needs to step up and have like 2.5t sacks if he wants a extension. blow any running play his way in the back field with his bull rush, he will need to help Tyson seal the back side if the fins run any counters or pitchers to the backside.

Should've just cut his ***, and used the 9 million in cap space on someone else.

Dupree best season, is worst than Porter's worst season in 03 when he got shot.

Absolutely agree. Next man up , this one took 5 years to play decent.

5th year bud 156/40 in tackles, 23 sacks, 1 int

3rd year tj 142/41 in tackles 24 sacks 2 int.

Bud will walk at the end of this season unless they franchise tag him.

They could trade him now and get something for him,,, since they obvilously arent going anywhere near the SB or playoffs.

They're going to franchise, Bud. He's having a solid year.

I think the projected franchise tag for him next year would be around 16mil... no way in hell do I give him that kind of money.

That would be just plain stupid to waste that much cap space on him.

Buds been playing at a very high level. Seems to be on the rise....Not time to cut bait, when our D is finally clicking. Speed on Defense these days is important.

Keep the MOFO

While he's definitely played better, I'd hardly call his play "a very high level"

yeah really, a "very high level" for Bud, I guess.

So we're comparing Bud of last year to the Bud of this year? This is his 5th year. So everyone said he sucked last year.. but last year was his best year..... so now everyone wants to sign him to big money because of 6 games this year? This coming off a game where he had 1 solo and 1 assisted tackle with zero QB hits and zero sacks? Yes, he had a couple of good moves against the LT but focusing on just 4 plays is worthless. I'm sure I can go watch video of him getting a sack last year where he looked good on that particular play. Does mean anything.

Fact is that this is his 5th year and if it takes him looking forward to a bigger payday to start playing well then I wouldn't sign him to play water boy.

He is on pace for about 7 sacks and 40-50 tackles. I would kick the tires with his agent. He will undoubtedly want to much. Then I would tell him if he likes it here to go and investigate his real market value and get back to us.

Market value for dupree is gonna be absurd and because he didn’t really catch on until a contract year, he is a risk to lose motivation after getting big pay...

Seriously, the FO can't tie more than 9M/year on Bud, and that's being generous. Rather get a draft pick and spend the money on hargrave

You under-estimate speed in todays NFL on the defensive side.

Dupree is having a good season. The question is, can he stay healthy and keep the consistency? I'd trade him to Philly right now for their 2nd round pick. Dupree is going to cost a lot to re-sign, and IMO he won't be worth 10-13 million a yard.

The best we can get if we lose him in free agency is a 3rd compensatory round pick, and that pick can only happen if we sign very little in free agency.

Some guys just take longer to develop and I like what I see from Dupree this year.
Look, we went against Steelers tradition of never trading away our first round pick, so now break another stupid self imposed policy and try and resign him now or at least see what it would take. Cheaper than franchising him which you know they will most likely do.
