Eagles eyeing Bud Dupree trade?

I think if we used him in the nickel as a DE he could use his speed and bull rush a from the edge and then when coming around decide if he is going to try bull rush or swim based on the QB stepped up or rolling. he will suck as a stand up OLB

Bud might actually be good as a DE in the Eagles wide 9. I think he struggles as a LB and having multiple responsibilities. The Eagles generally just have their DEs rush every play. Bud might do well if he was just able to go get em each play.

I've thought Bud has been the proverbial "out of position" player for years now. While his combine write-up below does hit on key points we've seen for years, maybe if he had the entire play in front of him instead of rushing into the tackle and having to diagnose pre-snap, he'd be better. IMO, had we moved him to the middle when Shazier was hurt, we'd have been better off instead of the cast of bums we brought in. The part in red has been a glaring issue for Durpee...

Analysis

Strengths

Freakish athlete with chiseled frame. Outstanding power with ability to rag-doll tight ends at will. Should be an above average edge-setter. Good transition from playing run to rushing quarterback in play-action. Explosive closing burst. Willing thumper when he has a shot on running back. Can drop into space and play zone. Raw, but learning with huge growth potential as a player. Has strength at the point to be a physical edge-setter. Scouts give him plus grade for character. Will post eye-popping numbers at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Weaknesses
Tall but not long. Wins with athleticism over skill at this point. Some scouts believe his instincts are below average, leading to hesitation. Will get caught taking bad angles to the ball. Needs to improve hand fighting. Still raw rushing the passer. Doesn't possess a go-to pass-rush move. Appears to lack urgency in-game.
Sources Tell Us "He's a little slow to diagnose, which causes him to get a late start on plays. I would ask him to drop into space in zone dog looks and that's about it. To me, he's a pure see 'em, get 'em 3-4 rush end." -- NFC East regional scout

Bottom Line
Dupree is an explosive, powerful athlete with a background in basketball. While he's been productive at Kentucky, his tape doesn't always do his potential justice. He must continue to improve as a pass rusher, but his traits are undeniable. Difference between being good and great might be his coordinator.

They would only trade him this year, when they think we are out of any playoff chances. At that point we'd be lucky to get a 4th.

It would difficult to trade him next year or last year.

Sometimes a fantasy. I wish. I’d trade bud for a 3rd round pick.

Next year isn’t he agree agent? Depending on what a stupid team offers we could get a comp pick.

you can use chick at olb/de I'm sure at 5 mill less he can put the same useless stats, but the chance should be given to Ola and gilbert to see if they have a future as rushers and hopefully Smith is improving in practice and the weight room.

To hell with Chick. Put him in the trade too. Waste of a roster spot.

If someone offered us a 3rd round pick, I'd sign that so fast and hire a private jet to ship him there.

First the Fat Boys break up and now this?

I don't know how many got that reference but I sure did. Well done.

Given he'd be free to walk next year, I hope to hell the Steelers are shopping him, as they should have done with LeVeon two years ago.

Hate to quote myself here, but based on his play thus far, I'm starting to reneg on my opinion of trading Dupree. Think whatever you want of him in the past, hate him all you want, you gotta give credit where credit is due. The dude's been balling this year. Great breakdown on Dupree's improvement from SteelerDepot.

Back at it talking to the tape this week. Bye week gave us the chance to do a deeper dive into some of our breakdowns and this time, we’re checking out how Bud Dupree has managed to improve from 2018 to 2019. In the video, we show:

– How he’s initiating contact to better bend the edge
– His ability to convert speed to power
– A healthy Dupree is predictably the best version of himself

We look at six plays, three from last year, three from this year, to show his progress.

you'd have to approach his agent and start negotiations on a re-sign, if they can't get to an understanding you have to trade him, I wouldn't accept less than a 3rd rounder as he might be worth 10 millions in the free agent market and that might well be worth a 3rd round comp

Buds been playing at a very high level. Seems to be on the rise....Not time to cut bait, when our D is finally clicking. Speed on Defense these days is important.

Keep the MOFO

Sorry with all the money we have tied u in Ben, Tuitt and others and with Watt coming up for a big contract no way I pay the going rate for DuPree who is nothing more than a guy.

Fascinating that he's suddenly playing well in his contract year...

He shows a spark of life after 5 years?

Fatten that hog up for market!

Fire sale time!

All together now, We want a 1st rd pick for him!

**** the madden quarterbacks, Dupree isn't going anywhere this season and next season the STEELERS will pay him a market value, maybe. They may let him walk but he is here for the duration of this season.

Salute the nation
