Conner Is Not a Starting Back

love Samuels but he is not a starting RB in the NFL. He is great in space but not good between the tackles and he had his one big game in the league against the Pats last year based on one misdirection play the Pats hadn't seen. We tried the same play against the Pats this year and they killed it. we need a legitimate backup RB and let Samuels do what he does best. move around the field and play in space. CJ Anderson is available.

I like the CJ Anderson idea.... especially once we get Nix back.

I think we need to Sarah Conner him & TERMINATE HIM

he was a pro bowler last year. he can be again this year

We don't have a big enough sample size on Samuels but when he played last year, he looked awesome. Keep note also, last year was the first time he really played RB. He was mostly a receiver in college. And, if he's not starting RB material and Conner isn't either (after an amazing 1st year as a starter last year), then who? Snell hasn't shown anything yet so he definitely isn't starter material based on what we've seen from all 3 backs. Conner definitely is starter material if he can learn how to hold onto the ball. He proved it last year with Bell type numbers. And, Samuels showed to be starter material when Conner got injured and he was still a rookie. Snell has nothing to show as of yet. That's who we have. They're not going to be bringing someone else in at this point.

A real coach would use all his players. This coach uses 1 player till they get hurt.

A real coach would game plan based on your opponents weaknesses and not pound a square peg into a round hole. EVERYONE and their brother knew that the 49ers were going to shut down our running game and force Rudolph to beat them with his arm. They loaded the box and our game plan was to throw 2-3 yard passes and run the ball with a loaded box. You have to throw your way out of a loaded box to get the safeties and corners to respect the deep throw. Instead, Mike decides that we are going to do our thing regardless of what the defense does. It is mind blowing that we never scheme for anyone.

Starting running backs simply don’t fumble in crunch time. They are focused on winning and doing that means not coughing up the ball...

Bettis fumbled against the Colts and almost lost the game. Earl Campbell is still fumbling the ball. All RBs, including starting ones, fumble.

I don’t wanna hear **** about how guys can’t get open without AB to scare defenses. Guys can get open on like 28 teams in the league and none of them currently have AB on them.

But those teams have someone, anyone, who is feared/respected by the opponents. Honestly, who on Sunday's offense caused the opponents to stop and think twice when scheming against our offense? (Tomlin, if you are reading this, it means that those teams develop a plan to stop or slow down the strengths of their opponents. I hope that helps).

We have NO ONE on the offense like that, except Juju, and to a lesser degree, McDonald. Both are dependent upon the QB being allowed and capable of delivering in stress. Get into a new starting QB's head, and that is no issue anymore. That was the game plan.

Ours was to watch a game, allow for mess ups, and use cool cliches' to justify why the team lost. It's FRIGGIN' OLD!!!!!!

Antonio Brown was a perennial all pro and this fanbase wanted him off the team... basically unless they clone the 70’s Steelers this fanbase wont be happy... and if they did clone thise guys we would go 0-16 in the modern nfl and people would still be unhappy...we just love to *****... thats our gameplan

Turnovers are a legit thing to ***** about.

Didn´t watch the game yet - did we use a fullback sometimes?

We have no fullback, he still hurt, they still running one back sets with no blockers.

Add to that teams selling out against the run with 8/9 in the box because no Ben, no AB, its no wonder they cant run.

Blaming Conner, O-line kind of silly with a weak sauce offense and running it up the gut playcalling.

This team desperately needs some offensive playmakers that can "play in space". We have a bunch of pluggers in the backfield and some WRs that struggle to get open. In the offseason we loaded up with speed on defense but other than D. Johnson (who is about a wash with Assclownio in the forty) we actually got slower at skill positions on offense; our rookie TE runs a 4.9 and Benny Snail runs just under a 4.7. He can't even make it to the corner let alone turn it.

Yeah did you see what CJ Anderson did for that Rams' offense? Hell, I think he even got more carries than Gurly in the SB (they said Gurly wasn't hurt but he had to have been).

Gurley doesn't look right. He might be done. My problem with Conner is that he fumbles without being hit hard. He wasn't rocked when he coughed up the ball Sunday, nor was the ball punched, or ripped out. He was wrapped up, and dropped the ball. The fumble against Denver was even worse. He was hit in the legs, and coughed up the ball. How the hell do you fumble from being hit in the legs? His fumbles were the difference between 9-6-1, and 11-5. Once you get a rep as a fumbler, it's blood in the water in this league.

Everything looks slower because we do not have AB and as a result we have no one that creates space due to his constantly being double covered. There is no one on this offense that scares the opposition and as a result the field shrinks and the running lanes and passing lanes are clogged. JuJu is a great #2, a mediocre #1 and as a result no team has to back off us and play loose, it is a domino effect on the entire offense and now without Ben and his big play ability it is further exacerbated.
There's a lot of truth in this statement.

Perhaps my history is fuzzy, but I think AB wanted off the team before the fan base turned against him.
Most fans were sick of him before his wanting to leave. Everyone liked his production but hated the team distractions. I don't miss the drama, obviously we miss the production. But the buck stops there...

Fair enough, and speaking for myself, it wasn’t until he lost his mind and started throwing his team under the bus that I didn’t care that he come back. I hated the first down signals and stupid end zone dances, but was glad he was able to make them.

It just seems to me that it was after he quit on the team and started talking **** that everyone turned on him.
