if Ben

First off. Mason is no where near a franchise QB. Has zero chance to be anything more then a career back up

Mason is solid but not a franchise QB. He will not be the next great one.

Damn damn

This is the first post I've read from you.
And judging solely by this limited knee jerk post, you are not a franchise poster and we are in major trouble years of it.

Just saw on ESPN. Ben talking about possible surgery and hopefully being able to postpone it. If he needs surgery, his season and possibly career is over. If no surgery, he will still probably miss significant time.

This season could get interesting. If Ben might be done, what might we see the top brass do in the back half of the season. Would they unload some players in hopes of getting a few top round picks next year? It's all speculation but this doesn't sound good if Ben is talking about surgery.

Lot of possibilities without knowing a prognosis. If the sun stopped giving the earth a source of energy we would all die. Run

No chance of knowing if surgery is needed until after the MRI. Grand speculation at this point

We aren’t going to trade players.. this isn’t the MLB trade deadline.

I know it's a lot of speculation but if Ben is even talking about surgery, then something is definitely wrong that will keep him out more than a week or two.

And, yes, we could possibly trade some players. It happens every year before the trade deadline. If our season is over and if Ben's prognosis isn't looking good, the team would have to think about it - especially with so many recently renewed contracts tied to when Ben's contract ends. As I said, it's just something to think about at this point. Hopefully Ben is fine and will be back in a week or two.

We should beg the Jags to get Dobbs back!

Another **** up

misses any games, I feel very comfortable with Mason starting. that is the 1st time I have said that in years. so that's something.

Its not if he misses any games, its IF he is gone the rest of the season with a UCL (Tommy John).

I'm hoping for the best but the look on Ben's face when he started grabbing his elbow was telling. Mason will be fine but is going to have some growing pains, we need to be patient with him.

Mason had a lot more preseason playing time due to the backup position battle and common Big Ben bubble wrapping.

His play won't involve a lack of preparation/reps. I think he will be fine. On the endzone INT I would like to see what he was looking at there. But overall I think he will be ok. As long as he isn't giving the ball away at an inopportune time.

Yeah that 2 PT INT was pretty bad, he had Mc Donald wide open to his left. He looked like he felt rushed. Seems like the kid will learn from his mistakes because his footwork is much better than it was last year. His release looks better too.

My issue is that preseason is not regular season. He played against simple defenses against guys that are construction workers now. We really don't know how well he is going to play against real NFL talent that has had time to prepare for him. I think he'll be fine but he isn't the QB that Ben is right now. He will struggle at times.

It seems to be the Steelers thing the last couple of years - remember last year when Boswell was struggling with his kicking and it came out towards the end of the season he had a groin injury which may have been affecting him most of the season.

It’s called excuses.

Nothing that every new QB hasn't encountered. You already had a regular season small sample game 2. In preseason they rotated in with the first team. So he didn't just face construction workers. Which leaves NFL game planning against him. A element of trial by fire. Sink or swim. Like most newbies it is a element of wait and see.

Dude, hind sight is 20/20..........................look behind you

No Ben, no Bell, no Brown, no talent

The no drama team yinzers have been dreaming about for years is finally here, enjoy

Talk about jumping ship and comparing Ben's play to Rudolph is lame. Trade Ben talk, sit him rest of year, WOW that will work I'm sure

My son took 9 months after his UCL surgery before he could start the throwing program (baseball). Even then, it took several months to get back to the pitcher he was before the initial injury. Ben is in his late 30's and that will be hard with no guarantee of success. The doctor may also tell him that the surgery is only necessary to keep playing but not to live life (depends on how bad the tear is I guess). A solid 15 or 16 months to be back to feeling like your old self leaves him maybe 1.5 seasons left to play. Surgery is not a slam dunk to work either. He could just decide to ride off into the sunset.

I really hope it isn't TJ.

Non-contact elbow injury. I wouldn't think he popped his bursa sac. My guess is UCL and I hope that's wrong but it looks likely.

Hope BB will rebound fast from the injury. It was good to see Rudolph move the ball....something that has been lacking so far this short season. Also, it was good to see some young enthusiasm from the QB. It might just be me......but it seems Ben doesn't seem to have the passion - drive so far this season.

#2 will get some chances in the next few weeks while Ben heals up.

While I firmly believe it is his UCL based on how he grabbed his elbow, where he was applying pressure...etc, I also can't say that this could be a contact injury from the Pats game that he aggravated on Sunday.

If our receivers could catch a ball, make a play, or get open, I am sure it would help his "passion." Secondly, if he has had elbow pain all year, especially UCL pain, I can understand not having much passion, it hurts like hell.
