The forgotten Steelers

NT Joel Steed. He was the beast in the middle before Big Snack.

This! Steed was incredibly efficient and durable. Plus, was a part of many CU Buff pieces the Steelers drafted in the early to mid 90's.

I used to call him Rhino...because of his size, strength, body type, and that face-mask he wore..

Wolford played LG for the last couple years that Jackson was with the Steelers.

I think they tried to move Wolford to LT to replace Jackson, but he got injured either in training camp/preseason or early in the season.

They eventually stabilized the position by signing Wayne Gandy, who was another underrated/forgotten Steeler.

You're right. I thought they tried WW at LT, but not sure it went that well. Gandy was OK, certainly not top shelf.

I was always partial to hardy nickerson. Hated it when he left

I was bummed when he left too, but I think the following season after he left (1992) we had some dudes named Kirkland and Chad Brown man the middle, so we were pretty OK at ILB. It was
one of those times where the front office anticipated a loss of a good player and were properly planned to not be diminished by said player leaving. That's always the plan but it's easier said
than done.
