Would Jimmy Johnson mentor Tomlin? Would Tomlin accept it?

Jimmy Johnson would be as useless to Tomlin as hairspray.

Tomlin had 3 former head coaches and one that became a head coach on his roster.

He was older than all of them.

Not once was there ever dissension in the coaching ranks.

I think his mentoring has already happened.

That shipped has long ago sailed now in his 13th season. This is the finished product not to expect any changes and if this is as good as it gets with all the talent we’ve had, imagine what it will be like with a so so QB and not as good talent.

And that's just the point of this top ten stupidest post ever.

Tomlin has coached 40 some more NFL games than Johnson. Maybe he should mentor him?

I dunno maybe we could get Eric ******* Bana to mentor Mark Ruffalo about how to play the Hulk while we're at it.

He's the third longest tenured HC in the league. This is a silly topic. Like basically asking if Ben or Rivers or Eli would like to talk to Brett Favre about how to play QB in the NFL.

THAT's what I'm talking about............................................ HELL yea

Jimmy was 9-4 in the playoffs with 2 teams. And started from ground zero in Dallas compared to Tomlin in Pittsburgh.

Tomlin is 8-7, and 3-5 in 7 seasons since his last appearance in the SB.

Jimmy managed to go to Miami starting over with a bionic QB and win 2 playoff games in 4 seasons.

Jimmy also put together some fast defenses down in Miami with excellent CB play with Surtain and Madison. He very well could mentor Tomlin on how to build fast defenses with playmakers.

I don't think this is a who is better, Tomlin or Jimmy Johnson thread. That is an open and shut case. This is some gibberish about Jimmy Johnson mentoring Tomlin based upon Coach watching A football Life: Jimmy Johnson. Like how well do they even know each other. Probably fairly minimally. Tomlin will reach out for help. Jimmy will respond. Back and fourth texts and calls and Jimmy will invite Mike to go fishing and they will talk and all the Steelers problems.............pooof gone. Yeah I ****** doubt it. How bout they just fire this stiff and get a new coach.

Instead of Jimmy and Shades trying to text, maybe Bradshaw could mediate the introduction and a Bayou fishing trip though the Fox Sports platform.

Who are these coaches? Lebeau was a head coach, and he was much older than Tomlin.

Todd Haley was older than Tomlin too ( Tomlin hired and fired him ) and a former head coach. Haley had some issues with he Steelers

Tomlin is nearly impossible to fire as long as Art II runs the team. 3-6 in his last nine playoff games, buffon like decisions, lack of in-game adjustments, a terrible red flag overturn percentage in the past two years, organizational chaos, players taking shots at the Steelers on social media. It's a mess.

Johnson sees other coaches, not just hoodie.

1 ) Would Tomlin accept this type of help? He has declined help in the form of a time outs coach before.
Hell no. His ego wouldn't allow it. See above.

2 ) Would Jimmy offer it to him?
No. Front office would have to offer it to Jimmy, and I don't see that happening either. Such a move would completely undermine Tomlin's authority, as if he hasn't damaged it enough on his own already.

Another thing that stood out is Jimmy said hit me on the head real hard with a hammer the next time I take a dumb guy. Oh, I hated the 1990's Cowboys, but they were that good. The Steelers pick low IQ / iffy character types too often.

No team takes more iffy character types than the Cowboys. Yea we need guys that kill their teammate in a drunken auto crash, we need guys who beat women and pose with all of their guns on the bed, we need a player to quit football so that he can do his drugs in peace. I think i will pass on a Dallas coach for help.

Dick L. Former HC and was older thaN CMVLT.

MIKE M. Former HC and was older than CMVLT.

Todd H. Former HC and was older than CMVLY.

Bruce A. Obtained a HC gig after he retired from the steelers and he was older than CMVLT.

NEXT anyone older or younger within TOMLINS posse to make HC............??????? Bubbles cheek smith????????

I'm not that high on DLB. Remember his last two seasons here his defense was getting ***-raped. Some of that was guys aging out but you've got to adapt and he didn't.

I don't think Tomlin's ego would allow it.

As DIC said, if at this point in his career, he doesn't get it, it's not going to happen.

Personally, for the benefit of the team, it would be a great idea. Never stop learning.

And how many current HC's do you think would welcome this idea? Ego...LOL

I think his issue was the way your worded it. You said that "He" was older than all of them. Or something like that. It sounded like you meant Tomlin was older than all those coaches. But I knew what you meant.

You need the players and he needed to do it his way. The stars aged out. The younger players were either not ready or not good enough. If he was the same coach he was when he left I have little doubt he could put together a special defense with the guys they have but no interference from captain Tampa-2 Tool.

I was in that boat as well and I DEFINITELY wanted outside organization hire when DL left.

Teams were figuring out how to beat him though, talent or not. Even when they were good and stocked with HOF'ers, Belicheat and Brady would pick them apart with short passes. Give up the underneath and don't allow the big play, fine, Br*dy would underneath you all the way down the field time after time, hell, their punter never got off the bench. Other teams picked up on it and then DLB's zone blitz wasn't as effective any more since its Achilles heel was the short pass. Playing 10 yards off and any decent QB would just throw 7 yard passes all day.

It was "Cope" that said tomlin was older than them and I was just trying to clarify that tomlin wasn't. I'm sure when Cope re-reads his poswt, he'll see it too. ONLY Coach would get confused on this.

Yup. I didn't go back and see who posted it. I just remember the post and I knew when I read it when he meant.

Hell, Shades didn't even want a replay assistant even though he "obviously" sucks at it, for damn sure he doesn't want a mentor.
