Team speed or Lack thereof

it literally took half a minute to find the article you likely were referring to. Stelerswire had it back in May. And it didn't say he would win, it said the writers money would be on Bush winning since he had just finished at the combine and had recently been training to run the 40...not that he was necessarily actually the fastest guy on the team.

Our money would be on rookie linebacker Devin Bush. Several guys on the roster have documented 40 times under 4.5 but Bush is the youngest and fresh off of the scouting combine and his training for the 40.

you can easily say "I heard on the local radio" or on ESPN radio or wherever you ******* heard it....or who said it..."cowherd said today" or Lance Zierlien was on the radio today and said"...

sources ******* matter

Yup that’s article I was reading.. it just surprised me that Bush and his 4.43 40 may be the fastest on the team. We’ve always had a Mike Wallace or DHB that ran in the 4.3’s and when I read the article it really surprised me that we really don’t have that elite speed guy on our roster this year. Not saying this is a bad thing, I actually really like the way our roster is constructed this year, especially our defense. I think our speed D will be amazing with the additions of Barron and Bush. We just lack a true burner on offense and it’s always nice to have that Tyreek Hill or Alvin Kamara, where one missed tackle turns into 6 points

RBs? No, we don't have Chris Johnson in his prime, but they are just fine, speed wise. Vance is a pretty explosive TE.

I just don't look at this team and say, "Boy they need more speed." Not at all.

I wasn’t trying to poke anybody.. it just seems like no matter who posts something no matter what the subject, there’s always someone just sitting back waiting to respond in a negative way or say something condescending..I’ve been a Steelers fan for over 35 years and I know our roster inside and out from the practice squad to the studs and I have Steelers news in my google search and check it several times a day.. I read every article no matter the site.. if it involves the Steelers I read it...so I don't miss much. As you can see I don’t post very often, but I do know my ****. I read all the threads on here, because there’s a lot of good insight and for the most part, everyone is pretty plugged in to the state of the franchise. The reason I don’t post often is because of all the constant bickering.. like I said the sharks are circling every time you post just waiting to tear apart your thread or make a smart *** comment..I’m not directing this at Coolie, this is just what I see out of everyone on here. Only reason I posted today was because everyone was jumping all over Coach for his post. I interpreted his post not to say that our team defense was slow, but that we really don’t have elite speed out of any of the skill positions. So that’s why I posted what I did about Devin Bush and his 40 time. I knew there was about an 80% chance that someone was gonna have something smart to say about it. When Coolie posted what he did I got a little sarcastic, but honestly I have nothing against Coolie, I’ve never met the man in my life. I was just reacting out of the frustration of feeling like you gotta walk on eggshells every time you oust something here

I can see that you've 'been in the shadows' for a while - and that's understandable [honestly, I generally stay on the Football side because my black feathers get ruffled, at times over on the Political and Religious side of the house. So, I stay away or post once or twice a year...

I gave you the advice so that you'd understand with whom you were talking to. Not that Coolie is a god (he's my boy and we've had spats in the past, but family gets over it) - but, he is one of those in charge around here.

So, welcome, don't feed the trolls and you'll be fine.

I had no issue with your response to me. I hope you can understand from the back and forth on the topic of sources, why I posted what I did. I knew I had seen the same article you had read about Bush's speed, which is one of the reasons I found it so quickly.

We want all to feel welcome to post here..but there are a few who just annoy the masses. Pop is guy who has been here under several different usernames (currently bobby bufford) and trolls the board so that even when he posts something that might make sense or is football related, he is met with disdain.

Yes people can be sarcastic and take shots at each other which can make this place more entertaining. Don't worry about "poking the bear"..Mods don't ban posters for taking shots at them....hell, I usually deserve them anyway. Don't take the **** here too seriously, mostly it is said in fun and the guys are not seriously being mean...just amusing themselves. Hell this place used to be a lot worse back in the old days.

If you have something to say, say it. If you think someone is crossing the line, report the post to the mods (there is a triangle icon under every post for this) and we will deal with the issue.

You get it. As for others, they can speak for themselves. Correct we do not have top speed at WR or CB positions in general. We have good speed at the starting TE, and ILB. So so speed at RB.

How about some sources. Burns won't be on this team for long...and he was never a sub 4.4 guy. Try 4.46

Haden is not fast. Over 4.5 Nelson is not fast. 4.49 was his best time at the combine, and that was a while a ago. Layne was a 4.5 guy. If you want to throw in Hilton, he isn't fast either.

If you're going to quote numbers sources first, then you'll be more accurate. Yes you are confused. Research it for yourself, then comment. The 2nd reply from you will be interesting.

As for our WR's, 3 of our top 4 guys are 4.5+ types. Only Moncreif has what I would call good speed for his position.

Not trying to to clown you or anyone else here...just calling it as it is.

We don't need a lot of speed at RB, Conner will just run that *** over. Jaysam will get open and has the hands to glue to passes. And Snell yeah will have to show what he has but his college tape had some beast looks............
