If true, maybe it will motivate Tomlin to get more vets preseason playing time to be more ready for the start of the season.

I assume it will be at Gillette? Yea, kick their *** early. Way to start the season with thumping of the defending Chumps. Bring it!

Good. Maybe this will give this unfocused group a hard target to shoot at and they may actually use preseason to get ready to win instead of using it to get in shape and get reps for the 3rd string QB

So, you want to prepare for this Week #1 game like it’s our Super Bowl. What are we, the Jags now?

No championship has ever been won in September. This is just another game on the schedule, and should be treated as such.

I think he’s just hoping it motivates us not to suck *** like we usually do early. Also, playing a division game against the defending champs, whom we hate, is not just another game on the schedule.

I’d certainly like to see us win, but I just realize it’s not the end of the world if we don’t. Most teams take a month or so to “hit their stride” - including the Patriots... and most teams that are hot in September, don’t do so well down the stretch.

Historically, we have play our best football in November and December, when it counts. I’d much prefer to continue that trend, than to shoot our wad in September, just so we can beat the Patriots.

I’m more concerned about not sucking against mediocre teams than I am about beating the Patriots in week #1.

Tomlin will lose this game, and his lack of preparation will be plain to see.

I thought the SB champs got the Thu kickoff game of the season? Is it called SNF and played on Thu? That may be the case.

I guess it’s cool since the *s usually start slow so maybe we have a shot there. But hate to start the season with a damn near certain L

Last I checked, a week 1 win is worth as much as game 16 of the season.

Well, we beat them last year. Why the hell do we have to play them three years in a row in the regular season?

They normally do Cope. Being the 100th year, they are using the oldest rivalry to start the centennial celebration. Pack/Bears.

We both won the division the previous two years and this year is the Steelers year to play the AFC East.

This is a marquee matchup to start the season, but it was going to get a ton of eyeballs anyway. I'm surprised the NFL didn't save this one for later in the season.

NFL iknows Tomlin will be ready by then..

Don't worry about preparation! Butler is already working on a game plan to take care of Gronk this time.

I actually like the Week 1 match up. This time should be laser focused after an offseason of turmoil surrounding ex players. Its up to the coaching staff to put together a good game plan and lets hope that our core players make it through camp and pre-season in good health.
