If the Steelers wanted to move to 1.9, would a 1.2,6 this year get that done?
If someone in charge of drafting for Buffalo at round 1 spot 9 was absolutely drunk and we could take advantage of this deal we should rush to the podium.
Jimmy Johnson created charts in the 1990's to put a value to draft positions for the purpose of evaluating trade equity.
round 1 spot 9 is worth 1350 points on such a scale chart
round 1 spot 20 is worth 850 points on such a scale chart a difference of 500 points a team would need to compensate such a move in the draft
round 2 spot 52 is worth 380 points
round 3 spot 66 is worth 260 points
round 3 spot 83 is worth 175 points
round 4 spot 122 is worth 50 points
round 5 spot 141 is worth 36 points
round 6 spot 175 is worth 21 points
round 6 spot 192 is worth 15 points
round 6 spot 207 is worth 9 points
round 7 spot 219 is worth 4 points
This is the rough guide but each draft position exchange between teams will have to take into account the depth of talent in each draft year.
No team is going to give up a top 10 pick in round 1 unless they know there is going to be an advantage to them getting more value and increased numbers of draft picks. Realistically I would not see Buffalo making a deal unless you were suggesting a rd 1, rd 2, and a rd 3 in compensation for rd 1 spot 9
that ends up being a pretty steep of a price to pay especially in a draft with so much depth in quite a few positions.
The Steelers have 10 picks this year and I see no one in the draft worth moving up 11 positions in the draft for because of price and because of the multiple areas we need to address. If one of the Devin's ILB are still available at spot 16 then trading up costs much less to do, otherwise I wish they stand pat at 20 or even trade down slightly to pick up another 2nd or 3rd round picks as there will be plenty of options in those rounds to help the team.
