Dupree

I think Tomlin learned a lesson with Ziggy and then with Jarvis. He stuck with Ziggy way too long even keeping Cam on the bench to give him playing time. He had a quicker hook on Jarvis and Burns.

If Bud had been healthy for most of his time, I think he would be released like Jarvis because they would have seen enough. BUt the fact he's missed so many games and then played injured for a bunch more, it still makes him a prospect. Again, i feel it's like Sanders.

Pass Rushers are so hard to find. I'd rather give Bid one more shot than let him go a year too soon and see him blossom on a different team.

Plus, even if he does have another mediocre season, then you can probably get him for a good price as a depth player just like Alualu.

Tombert tends to keep inferior players on the field hoping "they'll figure it out" so it doesn't look like they made a bad draft pick (time after time) when the end result is that said busted draft pick just makes them look more incompetent. Durpee will take whatever they offer, it's not like a bunch of teams will be beating a path to his agent's door. $2 million for one year, he'll be pissed but he'll take it since it's the only offer he'll get. You want more money? Fine, play better.
 
asa former de and converted to OLB peezy should of been able to make Dupree a beast but he simply had no coaching talent as seen by the 3 misribreable years watching Jones

Well, with Jarvis, it was, probably, poor coaching talent combined with inability of the player.
 
Just think the next will be Burns maybe after ten years he will get he can't play corner. This seems to be the Tomlin make up , don't find someone maybe that can improve the defense just pay more for the same players we get week to week.

what about Watt? Could Porter coach him up, but not Dupree?

Watt is a different animal. you, really, think he needed Porter to teach him much, if anything? Dupree didn't even have a position coach in college.

Kentucky didn't even have a LB coach. Dupree was used as part DE and part LB there. It was known that he was a project who had to be taught LB from scratch but because he was such a great athlete, it was a good risk.

Basically, he was the exact opposite of Jarvis who completely lacked the basic athleticism to be a good pass rusher. But he had experience and on paper he could play right away.

Well, being that he had only played that position for about a year, ...yeah Porter probably taught him a lot. Dupree just sucks. No teacher can fix him.

Watt switched positions in College twice I think, but no, I don't think Porter taught him much, just not sure how someone can blame Porter(the poster I quoted) for Dupree, but not give him any credit for Watt. Watt didn't even start playing defense until his 3rd fall in College, if anything Watt would need more help than Dupree.

I think Watt is one of the more rare individuals that doesn't need that much coach. He pushes himself to get better. Sorta like Harrison in that respect.
 
My neighbors son is a "Steelers" fan since 2015.
He wants a Dupree jersey lol. I'm trying to catch him up on Steelers history. Thinking on tying him to a chair and running Steelers videos 24/7

Harrison had a hard time with the playbook earlier on. However he did have that instinct to gravitate to the ball carrier. I still remember his game in San Diego when he hurdled over Tomlinson.
Watt seems more cerebral and just seems like a student of the game. I'm glad we drafted him. He's gonna have a lot of productive seasons

I just meant their will to be better and put in 5he work to make it happen. I agree with the types you describe.

Watt is like Jack Ham v.2.0. (Yes I'm old enough to remember Jack Ham playing. Met him and got his autograph when I was 14.)
