Steelers exercised OLB Bud Dupree's fifth-year option for 2019.

The No. 22 overall pick of the 2015 draft, Dupree has been mostly a disappointment through three seasons, recording just 14.5 sacks total. He had his most productive season last year, however, and the option is guaranteed for injury only, meaning the Steelers can still cut him next spring if he does not improve. If he plays out the option year, Dupree will earn $9.232 million in 2019.

with that amount I don't see uis going after Mosley or Smith, so a vet or a mid range rusher like Clay could be a good option as we need to load up on versatile rushers.
Someone needs to teach bud more than the rullrush a swim technique and having him blitz from 2 pt stance from MLB on a cross.

Well

alrighty then.

If he can take as big of step as he took from 2017 to 2018 into this upcoming 2019 season, he will be fine. I know he isn't a star super impact but he also isn't as bad as many here claim him to be. Is he worth the 9+, time will tell but he knows the system, as flawed as it is.

He’s ******* terrible. One move.... straight up the field taking himself out of the play. He ain’t worth $9 an hour let alone $9 million.

I would love to see him in wide 9 4 DL front lined really wide it could work think
LE tuitt
3T Hargrave
NG Heyward/Tyson
Re Dupree
LB Watt
LB rookie ILB

Dupree is maddening. He has the athleticism but can't seem to put it all together. If I see him run up the arc past the QB one more time. It just pisses you off to watch it play after play.

And when he finally does get to the QB it is like he is lost on what he should do.

I could see Dupree at DE. Drop him in coverage now and again to try to fool the offense on a hot route. But he’d need to get a counter move and that takes some pass rush reps away from Watt.

They should offer him something reasonable and cut him if he declines it. Like 5/30 is probably an overpay but whatever. Not sure he's getting 9m guarantee on the open market.

As said earlier, the Steelers May extend him and get that down to 4.5 ~ 6 mil / yr..

Don't mess with my scotch high tonight, Justin...:hippie:

Not me.

And the Steelers exercised this option last year. It can be pulled, or they can extend him at a much smaller number. Though, Colbert said last week they aren't afraid to pay him 9 mil.

They moved him from the left to the right, i hope they try him in the middle because he doesn't have IT at OLB.

Buds as good as anyone else on the defensive side of the ball. Hate to say....

C'mon. As good as anyone. Really. He can't hold Watt's jock. And at least Tuitt and Heyward flash greatness. He also isn't as good as Haden or Davis for that matter. He was simply kept because they couldn't create another hole.

They all look pretty much average to me..

Belichek wouldn't pay a slightly above replacement level OLB 9M. I dont know why in the worlids we keep doing it

Year after year, they say they see something in Bud. But, he is average, at best. They can bring in anyone at half his price tag to do what he does. $9.2 million is a complete waste on someone like him. Hopefully, they can and will still extend him so they can reduce their cap hit and cut him easier after this year.
