They even have extra money, and have brought in zero veterans for look see?

Is the FO turning over every blade of grass in areas of deficiency?

Buy or Sell

They need to stop sitting on their hands and bring in a CB, WR, and RB for a look-see.

U obviously missed Tomlin's presser, we are fine, no changes needed, we will continue to do what we do, huff huff, chestbump

Does this year remind you of the Pirates? Just seems like they are holding onto that extra money and refuse to try to upgrade some obvious areas of need.

Did u just call the Rooneys cheap?

But we got Ralph!

lol

Ralph save us !

They usually fill those off-season holes and tried to. And usually have money allocated for emergency roster additions.

So usually they aren't cheap, but yeah seem to be showing that now.

Just odd with additional money, more than the norm. There is no vet activity.

Just Ralph

Ralph better be able to play CB,RB, and WR.

Relax, we still got our developmental guys, Steelers will offer Artie Burns a new contract, so in 5 or 6 more years we should have a slot corner ready

Just try to get me in a bad mood, why don't ya.

At this point I am all for getting rid of the ILbers, and replacing them with CB/S's.

How about that Butler?!

They probably would just insert a DE in their place..

SELL, NO the FO (Colbert) has NOT done enough to justify not being cheap. I personally don't know who is out there for quality players to be brought in but you will NOT find out if you don't bring anyone in. TOMLIN has trouble sizing up talent but in general if a player is brought in I'd think many coaches, including Colbert would be watching. I'm afraid our last great talent evaluator has passed away and things are way less in that department (RIP Dan). I'm NOT saying hire just to be hiring but you MUST take a LOOKsie as doing nothing actually means you are going backwards.

Salute the nation

The way the Steelers have been drafting, why not, We have safties palying as LBs and LB's playing as safties...all these hybrid/tweener types

See Colbert and Tomlin feel they can pick fast, athletic, less experienced, raw, hybrid type players and coach them up. THAT hasn’t worked for a long long time....

This hybrid philosophy needs to go. If you want a safety, pick a seasoned one in college that is good at THAT position. Quit picking guys that are spending half of their college careers playing different positions as an experiment.

If you want a CB, pick a seasoned one that can play the position. You fine tune the player at that position into the pro level. The player should already know how to play the position you drafted them as. The Steelers try to coach them into the position from scratch. The game has changed and when you also don’t draft players with no cover and ball skills in the secondary, that will translate the same on the field.

This is why the Steelers don’t generate turnovers. They don’t draft ball skill players. That is what is needed in this league today.

Look how much worse the defense gets every time Haden isn't on the field. Could you imagine having a guy like Ramsey on the other side of Haden? Of course the Steelers would have to spend money to do that.

Its not the Steeler way and unfortunately that way is not working.
I am not sure who is really out there and available, options are limited but do something please

Some of this has to do with Draft position. Easier to draft the way you want when we suck and get higher picks. Drafting later you get position ready but not athletic or athletic but inexperienced/ tweener. We bitched when they went experience and production over athletic ability on some guys like JJ. Now we ***** when we go athletic but inexperienced.

WR and RB are not the issues on this team.

Defense IS. If we didn't address it in the draft, or in free agency, or by the trade deadline, we surely ain't gonna address it now. Even if we were, what's out there at this point? We will simply acknowledge it, embrace it, and keep doing the same thing. Insanity.

Bullshit, there are more than 10-20 players coming out of college with exceptional skills, they just have to find someone that can identify them.

IF I was GM the Steelers would still have Bell because I would have payed him and we'd have Jalen Ramsey on the phone for next year.

I don't care how many draft picks it costs us.

You can't go cheap on elite talent

Well go back and read the forums. Lots of so called draft experts. Exceptional skills but the later you go there will be some problem and they are not always at the right position. The way the college game is changing I think some of these defenders are coming less prepared than ever.

There isn't much talent available that isn't on a 53 man roster somewhere. We have plenty of players on our 53 man that can't get playing time.
This isn't offseason free agency time.

When was Tom Brady, Antonio Brown, Kevin Greene, Shannon Sharpe, Terrell Davis? There is a TON of talent available at all rounds of the draft if you are willing to go find it and develop it. Tomlin and his staff has shown that defensively they couldn't develop VD in a ***** house.

Yet the Raiders signed CJ Anderson after our big move was promoting Edmunds from the practice squad.

You just can't bring in street FAs to rescue the defense, especially the secondary

RBs and WRs can come in and play right away, thus actually help on the field and be productive

Do you guys really believe burns is a total bust and can't be salvaged?

With this coaching staff...YES

I think he can and will go elsewhere and end up being a productive DB. He was too solid in college to be this awful in the NFL. I think our scheme and player development absolutely sucks for DB's.

I don't dispute that it can happen but what are the statistical odds of players in later rounds being superstars let alone even making the team? For every one you mention there are probably 50 who barely make a roster.(yes i totally pulled that number out of my *** with no evidence but I am sure it is close)
