I can't believe the other 31 teams are sleeping on the surplus of NFL talent currently on the market. A lot of GM's need fired.
I don't dispute that it can happen but what are the statistical odds of players in later rounds being superstars let alone even making the team? For every one you mention there are probably 50 who barely make a roster.(yes i totally pulled that number out of my *** with no evidence but I am sure it is close)

SELL, NO the FO (Colbert) has NOT done enough to justify not being cheap. I personally don't know who is out there for quality players to be brought in but you will NOT find out if you don't bring anyone in. TOMLIN has trouble sizing up talent but in general if a player is brought in I'd think many coaches, including Colbert would be watching. I'm afraid our last great talent evaluator has passed away and things are way less in that department (RIP Dan). I'm NOT saying hire just to be hiring but you MUST take a LOOKsie as doing nothing actually means you are going backwards.
Salute the nation
There's nothing available now. Unless they want to sign Kareem Hunt, there's now RBs out there.
Every team is looking for DBs. You are scraping the barrel now if you bring somebody in. Marcus Allen is a better prospect than anything available. Sutton may be back from his personal issues soon.
DHB is back and can fill in for Hunter as a backup WR. I think Eli Rogers may be coming back soon too.
The reality is, you have to weigh the actual possibility that the Steelers could even DO something down the stretch and into the playoffs if you DID spend money on some FAs. The fact is, it really doesn't matter WHO they add right now. They haven't beaten the Raiders in Oakland for over 20 years... Think about that. And then they have the P*ts and Saints.
Even if they DO make it to the playoffs, they would likely get the Chargers again. Is Tomlin going to go out and find a slightly FASTER linebacker to man up on Allen? Cause THAT's worth a few million in future cap space.
They have almost certainly pissed their season away in the last two games. They've been exposed and Tomlin and Butler are NOWHERE near smart enough to fix it.
Save the money and hope you can get somebody decent for next year. And further, hope that Tomlin just stays the heck out of the way.

IF I was GM the Steelers would still have Bell because I would have payed him and we'd have Jalen Ramsey on the phone for next year.
I don't care how many draft picks it costs us.
You can't go cheap on elite talent
I would agree if I had any trust in his hands.I would like to see DHB get a shot at the Z. He can play all 3 WR spots, and was actually a Z starter 2 years ago before we promoted Hamilton. DHB hurt his ankle that game and never came back.

Conner has done more this year from virtually any statistical angle you look at it than Bell did last year
But... Bell isn't elite talent. We've pretty much seen that this year. Conner has done more this year from virtually any statistical angle you look at it than Bell did last year. I can find no evidence that Bell is "elite".
And how much better would we be if we had BOTH!!!!
Go back to arguing over 3rd string scrubs, U better pray Ben plays one more year while the Steelers go cheap and squander away another season
I think you are near correct because BELL & CONNER are in the elite class, CONNER more on ability and "SPEED" where as BELL was more the quantity of touches and numbers. I would NOT pay either one of them the amount of money BELL was asking. A-N-D I think spike would well be on his way to bankruptcy I'f he was running the team.
Lance Zierlein said:Miami CB Artie Burns
His stock has skyrocketed since defensive backs coaches have been able to dig into his tape. Burns catches like a wide receiver and is a championship hurdler, so you know he's athletic. The tape and technique are raw and uneven, and Burns appears to coast on his athleticism too often. Great potential, but a projection player with a lower floor.
