Yep, that int that Tomlin threw really put us in a bind.

He did not throw the ball, but the play call was garbage.

A WR screen on 3rd and 7?

It's almost like the Brown were ready for it because they saw a nearly identical play on 3rd and 11 in the previous series.

Also, when it comes to these outside screen plays, the Steelers run them way to ******* much. They seldom work, largely because the opponent is always ready for them

Hell, the second TD to Brown before the half was an inch away from being a 100yd pick six, as the defender read the screen and jumped it,

Yeah, I'm not of fan of the # of times they run it. Apparently, the pass to juju was supposed to be to McDonald, but Ben didn't like what he saw (probably, unsuccessful for a 1st, anyway) i can't imagine what he saw with juju with the defender all over him, and thought it was better.

With the way McD runs after the catch a short pass like that could very well be a 7 yard game. Seems a low % success play even with that.

They basically ran the same concept with the same players on consecutive third and long plays.

On the second play, Ben should have just ate the ball instead of forcing it in there, but I honestly do not know what the hell they were thinking with the play in general. The Browns had to have a pretty good idea what was coming.

You sure are verbose for a guy who was quitting the conversation.

People here want Munchak to take over as HC, but it was his guys on O who were the most lackluster. Tomlin, probably, told them to not listen to what Munchak had been telling them and to have some cheetos and pizza.

Honestly, if i was Tomlin, i wouldn't have told Ben to throw the ****** pass that ended up an int and fuel that massive 6 point 1st quarter, but that is why im not paid the big bucks.

Too much fun showing you a fool in this thread. How do Tomlin's balls taste, you suck on them enough.

The Steelers offense stalls every time they start to go horizontal with the passing game. The game plan coming out of the gate was awful and thankfully they got away from it in the second quarter.

Like I said during the game, we always come out like we are the road team with a young QB.

Tomlin loves the WR screen game. You know it's Tomlin because it's transcended three different coordinators now. It's maybe gotten even worse under Fichtner.

Earlier on, they had a lot of success with them with Holmes then Wallace, but teams are ready for them now and they just never seem to yield much anymore.

Maybe the idea is to get defenses to focus on them to open up other things, but it just seems like they use them so much that they're basically throwing downs and possessions away.

See on weeks they win, those concerns and complains should largely be put on hold. To enjoy the win.

And the balls taste comment is kindergarten equivalent.

Dial it back.

not sure if it's the ****** coaches we get, or the arrogant over paid players we get. But, there is no discipline in the play.

As i said, **** that loser. Pithy insults from a guy like that mean nothing to me. Dude was probably pulling his pud all the 1st quarter thinking "This'll show Ark, who cares if the terrible play by the OL, a dropped ball and an int by Ben just happen to coincide with the patented Tomlin slow start!"

2nd quarter shows up and the Steelers turn things around and he, probably, got all sad. Probably already had a post all typed up for the bye week thread.

He should have people in the booth whose job it is to give him advice on when to challenge. I dont know why he doesn't or why they haven't been fired. I can't think of one good reason not to have someone whose job is 90% sitting there looking for this ****. That person's experience only needs to be as high as knowing basic football rules and how to watch/rewind a video

I see players looking towards the sidelines quite a bit yelling at the coaches to throw the flag when they think they made the play (usually a catch/non-catch). I saw none of that. I might excuse Connor from that because of his inexperience, he might not be comfortable doing so. Ben wouldn't hesitate, IMO, If he thought it was that obvious from on the field.

I thought it was obvious, too (just as obvious that the midget didnt make the 1st). Doesn't mean i was very confident it would be ruled a TD.

Indeed, Tomlin should have a competent employee in the replay booth. Yet he obviously doesn't.

First of all, it wasn't a catch/non-catch situation. Conner got tripped up on the 5, and was twisting in the air to try and reach the goal line. He didn't know exactly where he landed, because when he lost the ball in the end zone, he quickly went to cover it. So, basically, he would have had no reason to look toward the sideline and yell at the coaches. And even in the extremely unlikely event that James had done something like that, you still would have seen none of it -- because they only showed him for a few seconds walking back to the huddle. And for the same reason, you would have no idea what Ben did or didn't do.

The bottom line is it was a bad choice for Tomlin to not challenge that play, no matter what convoluted excuses you continue to try and come up with.

I was watching back then, but "around" is a bit of a stretch. I was 8 years old.

I guess that's why you were confused about which quarterback to associate with Shula, since the reasoning you provided was proven faulty.

The qb who replaced griese that year was Morrell, who was with shula in Baltimore and won a championship there. Not a HoFer, but not your typical back up, either.

Well, maybe Morrall should be your guy, then. Since you said this:

"Yeah, when i think of Shula, i dont think of Marino. I think of the QB that lead them to an undefeated season."

The fumble was automatically reviewed as are all turnovers... the league has gone to a policy that if its close and not obvious it stands... thats how they called everything this year...

Tomlin cannot challenge that play.. its already reviewed... its just how it is...

Blame Tomlin fir the slow startsor other stupid challenges and non challenges, but asking him to challenge this is like asking him to challenge a penalty called... its not allowed by rule...

The play vs the browns where Ridley caught the ball then fumbled... since the national announcers questioned it I have heard several Yinzers ask why we didn’t throw the red flag... I just wanted to preventively address it here...lol

No one was confused on who to associate with Shula. I started watching football in the early 70's. The QB for that entire decade, for MIA was Griese. I barely watched any football from mid-late 80's because inworked most Sunday afternoons.

I'd expect most people who watched in the 70's think of Griese.

We dont know WHY there is no one in the booth. I would assume a group decision between the FO and coaches. Makes no sense, regardless of whose decision it is. If im the HC, i bring it up in every conversation if i had been overruled. Presumably, even if not his decision, tomlin is complicit in the result.

Yeah, ive never seen players do that. The player at the point has no idea where he is, Ben who is closer than Tomlin didn't see it, no other closer player saw it. All players went to the huddle, we could see them pretty clearly. Not one of them was asking for the challenge flag.

But that's not what YOU said. YOU said that when you think of Shula, you think of Griese because HE was the quarterback who led the Dolphins to their undefeated season.

Just cannot admit when you're wrong, can you?
