Just wondering cause James is putting up some damned good numbers as a runner and receiver. Like historically good. And, it seems the offense hasn't missed a beat with Conner in for Bell. So, is it one of those things were we've heard it so much that it must be true that Bell is greater than Conner? My thought is that Conner's emergence sure does take the sting out of the whole Bell mess. And, I think Conner can be just as good in this offense as Bell was; if not better.

agree. to bad weare not going to be able to trade him

I think Bell chose the wrong year to hold out.

Conner is a stronger runner after contact. Has a nice compact spin move, better break away speed, and a better nose for the enzone.

Bell is more patient, and a much better receiver, and a better blocker, but even that point is closing.

The crew on the game just showed stats with and without Bell since 2015 and every stat was either even or better without Bell. More points and yards per game without him and both near 70% win percentage. I honestly wouldn't play Bell if he comes back. Put him in for game clean up.

I like the massive improvement in Conner's pass blocking from year 1 to year 2. Also, while Bell may have better hands, I think Conner is a better runner after the catch. James also brings a little (or a lot) more toughness to the position. So, each has their pluses and minuses ... I'll take Conner.

Who cares about “better”?

Barry Sanders was “better” than many RBs who were more EFFECTIVE than him.

Good point. So let me say that I don't see Bell as that much "better" than Conner. I love how the offense goes with Conner back there and believe that Conner is more effective in this offense. In short, bye Bell, bye.

DON"T forget outright SPEED. Conner has way more of it. The amount in difference of pay is reversed in the amount of value. Conner by far is outplaying his $$$cap value where as BELL is playing under his perceived cap value....... That is if he shows up in prime time shape otherwise don't bother to play him at all.

Conner b rings a way more strong / speed / to the game and that non-indecisive running makes it way easier on the OL.

Salute the nation

I hated using the 3rd round pick on Conner as they had defensive needs to address, and he seemed like a reach, but he's looking like a steal now.

Tomlin and Colbert saw something in him that most people did not. The kid is a special talent

He's definitely faster and maybe stronger than Bell, though Bell is more athletic and can do more things in the passing game in terms of the routes he can run, though Conner's hands are just as good, IMO.

Relative to cost, Conner is without a doubt the better option.

Uh, Really? Cause as I remember it, Sanders simply walked away from the game on the verge of being the all-time yards back. It seems he was pretty darn effective...

Gonna be tough decisions what the **** to do with Bell upon return. Conner is the guy. No question. But if you don't find a role for Bell you are paying 800k a week to keep him away from someone else and pout/ cause **** in the locker room.

Bell did not wear down defenses and Connor is great at that. Most of his yards come late in games and they come in bunches like today. Screw Bell , his fat *** is done with the Steelers .

He was, At the same time he caused his fair share of negative plays on scrambling.

just different styles of RB.

Bell is a slightly better pass catcher and outside runner and blocker.

I think Conner is the better inside runner.

Barry is one of my favorite all time players, but he has 300+ carries for -950 yards. Barry could certainly take it to the house and make something out of nothing, but he also went backwards a lot. I like how Connor plows forward with no hesitation and finishes runs over Bells pitter patter steps.

No doubt. I did not mind the pick since the Steelers clearly did not have a capable back-up to Bell, and was a bit disappointed that Conner did not see the field more last year. Holy cow, what a year he is having - 599 rush yards, 323 receiving yards, 4.7 YPC, 9 TD's, on pace for 1370 yards rushing, 738 yards receiving, and 21 TD's.

Freaking amazing and just underscores how damn good this line is.

Meh, they've paid more in dead money for players in the past. If he shows up, I'd make him a healthy scratch unless there's an injury.

The numbers could be skewed a bit for a variety of reasons, one being that for most of Bell's time with the Steelers, they did not have a #2 WR like Smith-Schuster, or a TE as explosive as McDonald.

I do not have the time to dissect the stats game by game, but I'm willing to bet when Ben, Bell, Brown and Bryant were all on the field together with their heads on straight, the offense was doing similar things to what it's doing now.

Nope.

The networks used to show how if you took away all of Sanders negative yardage carries, he would average like 8 yards/carry or something ridiculous as if it was a testament to his greatness. It was actually a testament to his ineffectiveness.

Emit Smith and Jerome Bettie were more effective RBs just to name two.

Look, I understand the anger at Bell, but he is as tough as a $2 steak. Remember Bell's crushing run on the JuJu demolition of Burfdefect? Here is a reminder:

Dre Kirkpatrick ... roadkill.

Last time I checked, Conner was leading all backs in broken tackles after contact.

They saw his first two seasons of college tape. Untapped talent
