Patrick Peterson wants out of Cardinals organization

he's not really a kid though. he's 28. he has maybe 4 years left and will begin his deterioration in front of us.
i'd 100% love to have the guy, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking he's a spring chicken. average CB career is 3 years.
https://www.statista.com/statistics...areer-length-in-the-national-football-league/

longest is 11. Peterson has been in the league 8 years.
Though I will state that when his coverage starts eroding, he'll still be better than Burns.

Third and Burns for Peterson is about as high as I could go. Maybe a 2nd and Burns.

Bell to the Eagles for their 3rd.
Eagles 3rd, Burns and a 6th to Arizona for Peterson.

just got to get Bell to come in.

Why even trade Bell in this scenario? Just send our 3rd, 6th and Burns to Arizona for Peterson.

If Cooper just set the trade market, Bell has to be worth more than a 3rd anyway. The Eagles are as desperate for a RB as Dallas was for a WR.

Bell's played his last game for us, if it were my decision.
We have a lot of good team chemistry going now. I'd not want to disrupt that. If we can get as much as a 3rd when this turd signs elsewhere, why not take that third now and reap rewards earlier?

oh, **** Bell

Bell will be in after the trade deadline, that the scuttlebutt I've read.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...ort-this-week-waiting-for-nfl-trade-deadline/

From that article, I think this part is interesting,

"...but Bell might want the security of playing in Pittsburgh's offense the final eight or nine weeks of the regular season, knowing he can come in late, pick things up fairly seamlessly and produce at a high level. Struggling on a new team would be a red flag in free agency."

I think he very much intended to be back this week like it was reported, until he realized that the Steelers were shopping him and that a trade seemed likely if he reported before the trade deadline.

There is only money to lose if he goes to another team this year. If he struggles on another team, that's a huge red flag that teams could attribute to simply being a product of the Steelers system and running behind a great oline. If he does well, he likely gets the same money he would get if he stayed on the Steelers.

If he struggles with the Steelers, it will likely be blamed on simply not being in game shape since everyone knows what he can do on this team when he's healthy and in midseason form. There's really no downside (other than injury which is a risk on any team). He's basically spending his $855k game check this week to establish a higher floor on his new contract.

I don't disagree. But from a business standpoint, we get a 3rd round comp pick just by letting Bell walk and can at least use him for a run this year (locker room impact aside). Sending him off for a 3rd this year is basically a wash.

And I was replying mainly to the scenarios you laid out that we wouldn't need the Eagles 3rd to get a deal for Peterson done. Whether it's our 3rd or the Eagles 3rd, I still take that deal in a heartbeat for Peterson.

He's going to come back and split carries with Conner. **** they may even put them both on the field at the same time. Bell wants to get paid like a WR? Ok let him play some WR then. He adds a weapon for us offensively and is insurance if there's an injury to Conner.

The Steelers could also choose to NOT pay Bell for 2 weeks after he signs his tender. That's another $855K x 2 that they would save toward next year's cap.

**** DEEBO

you'd pay him $855k a week and let him sit on the bench and save his body for the next team? Those wheels need more miles.

Bell has not played his last game for the black n gold. He will come on as soon as the trade deadline ends and as late as prior to game 11 when he must report.
I just hope Tomlin doesn’t screw this up and force this guy right into the lineup. I’d like to see him gradually infused into the lineup and then split the touches between Bell and Connor. Can only make this offense more explosive. Now Def. Coordinators must plan for Bell.
As for Patrick Peterson! Not going to happen here. Steelers just do not trade first round picks. Under Tomlin they just for the most part lately use that first round pick on guys that are busts to average players. Give or take a Heyward, Shazier or Watt which are the exceptions.

According to Bryant McFadden, he said Peterson told him we’ve shown no interest, no surprise. Well hope they’re prepared to score 35+ per game from here on out to even get near a Super Bowl.

Picks be damned, make a move! You only get so many shots at a Super Bowl with a franchise QB.

I'd make him sit 2 more weeks on a roster exemption if he comes in after the trade deadline. No pay. Take it or leave it.

This is one of those situations where we as fans will never know if Colbert/Rooney have even made an inquiry about Peterson.

As a fan I would be disappointed if they haven't, but unless a deal is done, we may never know.

Did I really think anyone would trade for Martavis Bryant? No, but they did.

I really don't know what Bryant has to do with this but how's this...Eagles offered a 2nd round pick for Cooper. Dallas went up to 1st to get him. Also I love how everyone here says Burns is horrible but want to use him as a chip in the trade for Peterson. What? Does everyone think the Cards don't have access to film on Burns?

The thing with Burns is he's not as bad as he seems around here. He gets picked on a lot because teams avoid throwing towards Haden. It seems like his confidence is shot but he has shown flashes and the potential of being lockdown in certain games. He's still very young (only 23) and very raw but has all the physical attributes you want in a corner. There's still plenty of room and time for him to develop into a good NFL corner.

The Cardinals trading for Burns + picks makes sense because clearly they are in rebuild mode so it allows them to bank some draft picks plus get a promising young corner that could develop into a #1 in a couple/few years all the while getting rid of a disgruntled player. It makes sense for the Steelers because by the time Burns fully develops, Ben is likely gone and it makes more sense to have a proven Pro Bowl corner instead of a raw youngster to make SB runs while Ben is still around.

Eli Apple has been much worse than Burns since entering the league while being a reported "locker room cancer" and the Saints just gave up a 4th and a 7th to get him. There is a market for raw young corners with lockdown potential.

well, apparently the Cardinals are asking for multiple picks.
if a 1st alone wouldn't do it, I would probably pass unless the other pick is 4th or later.

Their season is far from done, the NFC East is wide open and just like us, an All Pro corner could put them over the top.

I agree, right now, they are mediocre, but if they get Peterson, they will be in the hunt for a PO spot. I don't see the Redskins holding them off for long with an upgrade at corner.

How about this trade? Stephon Tuitt for Patrick Peterson

How about this trade? Stephon Tuitt for Patrick Peterson

Can it be done with our currently salary cap situation?

Peterson says he wants out. Arizona will have to trade him sooner or later.

The deference between Peterson and Burns would be significant. The drop off between Tuitt and Alualu, well we saw that last year.

If you are going to rebuild, I would not start with Tuitt and that's no offense to him. Furthermore, because he is "not worth what we paid him", another team will take our overpaid DLman. LOL. Um, don't think so. Sorry!
