Bell’s Agent: Read Between The Lines

Some of the comments by Bell's teammates... Just pulling these off Twitter, so you can't always tell the entire context, but wow!

Ramon Foster:

“He’s making 7 times what I make twice as much as Al (Villanueva) is making and we’re the guys who do it for him.”

"Nobody is taking this well at all. That guy comes in half the season and he still will make more than me so f*** it, right?"

I hope this gives the Oline extra incentive to block for Connor and whoever else. If Bell comes back and the other RBs are putting up big numbers I would let Bell rot on the bench. Its an expensive lesson, but I think it would send a good message to the rest of the team. Its not like the Steelers were low balling Bell whatsoever. He was offered a huge contract that would have put him as the highest paid RB by far at the time

Lets do math...
14.5 million /16 = .906k per game missed
10 games= 9 million bucks lost

5 year 75 million dollar contract = 15 per year
5 year 85 million dollar contract = 17 million per
85-75 = 10 million gained if he signs his dream deal that few are likely to offer
10 million - 9 million means all of this will be over 1 million if he holds out ... and thats only if he gets what he wants...

You know who gets the same one way or the other... his agent lol ....idiot....

I wanted a raise. I didn't tell my boss, but I did send a rap to all his customers saying $85/hour is what it would take to keep me.

I don't think he's going to keep me.

I have stated the almost exact same thing in a couple of prior threads. That is why I never thought he would miss any games. He would have to be an idiot to.

Hey Bell....

I really dont blame Bell for this. He told the team exactly what would happen if the team tried to tag him again and Colbert pretty much called his bluff. Colbert could've worked out contracts all off season and just gave him what he wanted and he'd be here. Or not even used the tag and put all the energy into finding another RB. Now Bell's doing exactly what he said he'd do and the Steelers are left waiting and hoping...

Gave him what he wanted? He kept changing what he wanted. We offered him a more than fair deal, he declined, now all this new money with Gurley, Rogers, Mack, Donald... who knows what his asking price is now. And we didn't need to put all our energy into finding a back, they are confident in Conner, and drafted one in the draft who they are also very confident in (as evident by his slot in the depth chart). Yes, Bell is doing exactly what he said he'd do. And while we're waiting, the hoping just went out the door with his lack of communication to his teammates...

They both said what they were going to do, and to this point both sides are doing exactly that. Anyone who's surprised either wasn't paying attention, or still believes in that mythical Steeler way that all players are supposed to fall in line for.

He doesn't need to fall in line to anything, we offered him OUR market value for him, it wasn't good enough, we're set to move on after this year. Bell doesn't exactly have the greatest leverage here, despite what some here might think. He'll get paid next year, no doubt. But I'm willing to bet it won't be more than Gurley because of this very situation right here. He's not coming off as being the best teammate at the moment.

I thought Bell said he intended on doing things exactly the way he did them last year? And isn't he hurting his value by intentionally dogging it? I understand what he's doing is not against any rules, but don't you think teams are taking notice? I thought he wanted to reset the RB market (which I guess Gurley already did) and maximize his value.

Apparently you and a few others need to be reminded what Bell said. He said he'd be willing to sit out the entire year or retire if he was tagged again. Problem is, neither one of those options get him paid, if he sits out the year, we can just tag him again if we wanted to, we own his rights until he has accrued this last season. Even if he retires, we still own his rights. Much like the Bengals did with Carson Palmer when he "retired" and got traded to the Raiders.

Bell is not worth what he is demanding! Period

I bet the MFer can’t pass a loss test

And it's not really about $1 million, is it?? Uncle Sam and various states get 50% of that, so this is all about ...

$500,000.

Wait until Bell's stepdad (or whoever it was) tells him all this. Bell will be rapping a new tune in the $20 mill plus range next year.

I will say it again hope he blows his knee at the strip club or on his way to a piss test

I thought you made a typo with "buisness" until you mentioned "buisness" again. Then the "APPOLOGISTS" my personal favorites were "IDEDNTICAL" and opposit. All while pointing out how dumb Bell is.

EPIC

First off I've never proclaimed my spelling / PUNCUATION / ect......... So **** off you BELL sucking sniveling douche bag. If you're here to police the GRAMMER then start gLamorIn....................... I hope me's not affendz ya in da fewtures

Salute the nation

Could be.just going by what Adam Schaffner said on NFL Live.

He has to sign prior to game 11 this season so he can be available to the team for a total of 6 games in order for this season to count.

So six games qualifies as a season. Even if they don’t play him or even dress him. If he signs prior to game 11, the season goes in the books for him.

Now if they choose to which they won’t, they could throw a third franchise tag on him next year but that one gets real expensive. Something in excess of 20 million.

14 million dollars and he has his agent talk as he did. Just another stupid move by a self entitled athlete. If the Steelers Mr Rooney, Colbert or Tomlin would even entertain signing Bell no matter when he decides to show up would be hard to explain. Bell looks stupider each tweet, rap or non communication he and his agent put out in the social media arena Bell is so fond of.

i hope he doesnt return until Week 10
then the team will have moved on without him. I doubt we'll be struggling. Likely in playoff contention, as I doubt Bell is the supreme catalyst of this team.

Ben, AB, JuJu, Conner ... we'll be fine.
Better with the headcase drama queen, but we'll be fine without him.

Foster had some nasty words for Bell this afternoon. Apparently, they are now not OK with Bell screwing the team over. He will not be welcome in the locker room with open arms when he does finally get off his *** and show up.

And like I been saying you have to be one optimistic m'fer to think the Steeler's are going to get anything close to a 100 percent effort from this goof if and when he does come back.

Didn't think I could despise anyone more than Bryant but Bell certainly raised the bar.

$500,000.

Highest federal income tax rate is 37% right now which is down from 39% just a year ago.. Which he would be in. Then state taxes if your state has one. Mine does not thank God. Thank you tourists. Then you'd have his agents cut. He's dumber than dirt for pissing away his tax money. He could clear about 8 million this season had he not went this course.

In happier news...

Ben: "this team is about more than one player"

Antonio Brown (quad) taken off injury report

Antonio Brown (quad) is not listed on the Steelers' injury report for Week 1 against the Browns.

Brown missed a chunk of training camp while nursing a minor quad injury but his status for Week 1 was never in doubt

In the words of Landry Jones, “relax.”
If Bell skips this week who cares it’s the Browns. But his 852k lost should help next years cap space a little. If he sits out until week 11? Who cares we can run his wheels off down the stretch and in the payoffs.
He’s gone after this year so lets not fret just watch how the season plays out. Conner could blow it up and take carries away and out perform Bell making his contract demands out of reach for any good team and then we could watch him play for the Browns or Raiders and suck.

Did Le'Veon grow up with his agent? Cause he's a joke. Note for all teams interested in Le'Veon is don't expect him to play the last year of the contract. Me personally I'd take Bettis over Le'Veon 10 times over. But Adisa sounds like he should be a bad agent on ballers.

The sticking point is the guaranteed money. Yes he wants more money but soon to be 32 and a runningback = not for long jist as the NFL stands for. NFL live says he needs to set up the next player who is in the same position as he is in now? He don't care anything about an unknown player and don't think the Steelers are setting up for the next superstar who tries to hold a team up for ransom. I don't see this ending soon and Le'Veon might just "have" to sit this year and he should think of that when the next bunch of superstars come up behind him. Old and just as good is just old.

I think the Steelers are already thinking the same thing. What's the going rate for a running back who's sat ALL of last year?
