Bell’s Agent: Read Between The Lines

You wonder if the Steelers saw this coming.

What a ******** to give nobody a earlier heads up...

So if he doesn’t show up until week 10, and Steelers say F U and don’t activate him for 2 weeks, does he miss out on his accrued season and have to go into next year still under the Steelers control?

That would be a good way to say F U to him. Use him the last couple games, try to work a trade for thenoffseason, get something for him and let some other team pay the money he wants.

I really dont blame Bell for this. He told the team exactly what would happen if the team tried to tag him again and Colbert pretty much called his bluff. Colbert could've worked out contracts all off season and just gave him what he wanted and he'd be here. Or not even used the tag and put all the energy into finding another RB. Now Bell's doing exactly what he said he'd do and the Steelers are left waiting and hoping...

BELL is really lowering his value not just in on field play but also in humanity. It's a Buisness but don't tell me that Buisness can't be done right, with honor and integrity amongst the two parties. BELL knew all along he was going to hold out or was this just a James Harrison revelation. I said this along time ago that in the end BELL would **** over the STEELERS and it's holding true. The APPOLOGISTS along the way, what have you to say now............"crickets". This should have never gotten to here as the GREED of about 2million dollar differential was definately one sided. The excuse of "setting the new bar" for RB pay is ludicrous as BELL has shown many times over it's all about him and **** everyone else. Where does the agent get this "once in a generation" player **** from/?? I just see this player getting WAY more touches than anyone else and yet has a below average gain. Haley had to be to dumb to continue handing off as what about all the other "WEAPONS"? Our new OC will show you that an offense Is comprised of more than ONE player. James Conner and JaySam don't have to be IDEDNTICAL to LevMEon Bell as I hope they are the exact opposit and actually produce with the amount of touches they get. If and when BELL does report, set him and don't PAY the two games allowable by the TAG / CBA. OH and one last thing................BELL is now worried about "run him till his wheels fall off". Where was that concern last year or the year before ???? A lot doesn't make sense from the BELL camp and a whole LOT MAKES perfect sense from the STEELERS camp. two RED HOT POKERS, 1 for the agent and 1 for the other party involved (take a guess)

Salute the nation

I thought you made a typo with "buisness" until you mentioned "buisness" again. Then the "APPOLOGISTS" my personal favorites were "IDEDNTICAL" and opposit. All while pointing out how dumb Bell is.

EPIC

1. He has to sign the 1-year contract to get game checks ($900k per game).

2. Once he signs the contract, he is on the hook to follow team rules and league regulations.

3. If he fails to fully "give it his all" or "show up for practices", the team can suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team. That is allowed (although the union will probably sue for his behalf and it could end up in arbitration after the season on who owes what).

He's not under contract therefore not bound by league rules. I assume that that includes random spliff screens? I mean, theoretically he could be willing to lose $850 K for a few weeks rapping and burning the ganja to avoid suspension and lose $14 Mil, no? Seems far fetched but with this guy anything is possible.

According to the chat yesterday on PG, if he shows up by week 10, a full season is still credited to him, even if the Steelers keep him out the 2 weeks.

They both said what they were going to do, and to this point both sides are doing exactly that. Anyone who's surprised either wasn't paying attention, or still believes in that mythical Steeler way that all players are supposed to fall in line for.

If Bell doesn't show up until week 10, and the Steelers put the exempt inactive for 2 weeks. he will not have an occurred season. he would have to show up week 8 for that to happen in that scenario.

Pouncey didn't like the comments from Bell's agent and stated so. Looks like he and probably others on the team are turning against Bell. He said this is now gone past just being business. Interesting. He also had great words about Conner. He said if Conner didn't have cancer, he would have been a first round pick. The team is really liking how Conner has stepped things up this off-season. Hopefully, that translates during the regular season as it is looking like Bell may be out longer than anyone anticipated.

Not sure but one of the PG reported said even if he shows up in week 10 and they sit him 2 weeks, it still counts as a full season. He could have been wrong.

Please let that be the case.

I thought Bell said he intended on doing things exactly the way he did them last year? And isn't he hurting his value by intentionally dogging it? I understand what he's doing is not against any rules, but don't you think teams are taking notice? I thought he wanted to reset the RB market (which I guess Gurley already did) and maximize his value.

I picked up Conner on my fantasy team this week. This might last a lot longer than we think. And if/when he walks in the door thinking the Steelers will just write him his $900,000 game check when he doesn't practice or come to meetings, think again. A "conduct detrimental to the team" suspension might be right around the corner once he signs his tender.

I always thought the best use of "conduct detrimental to the team" suspension, would be on a player that held out till week 10. If you slap that suspension on them, then they don't get their full value of the tag, and they also don't accrue enough games to count for a year played. Then BAM slap the tag again, which still serves under the the 2nd tag value. That would be a real FU to him.

The Steelers' only mistake was signing him to an exclusive rights tag. he would have been gone and the Steelers would have 2 first rounders if done properly...

Or he can show up week 10, fail a drug test, and the Steelers still retain his rights. Dude is not smart...

Foster had some nasty words for Bell this afternoon. Apparently, they are now not OK with Bell screwing the team over. He will not be welcome in the locker room with open arms when he does finally get off his *** and show up.

Bell is doing what in the best interests of him..more power to him. But i definitely agree with Pouncey and the rest of the guys. State your intentions let them be known so every one can move on. Dick move not doing that. Just simply say i will be there week so and so and be done.

I was telling my son earlier I bet his dumb *** probably couldn't pass the drug test this week.

I think Bell's bullshit is starting to wear itself out in the locker room also.

Could be.just going by what Adam Schaffner said on NFL Live.

If I'm his teammate and I'm putting in the sweat and work to get better and help this team, going through the emotions that come with it and establishing (and furthering) relationships letting this team become personal and this **** says "it's business" ... well, I don't go out of my way for people at work I don't care about.

Nope, he is still required to undergo random testing. He may not have a contract, but he’s still a player represented by the NFLPA and able to play and has not retired.

A few thoughts I have on Bell:
1. The Steelers offered a very fair contract last year and this year. Anyone who only looked at the guaranteed value doesn't understand how the Steelers operate.
2. As soon as Bell saw contracts for Gurley, Donald, Mack, etc., his demands grew. No organization can plan for that.
3. Teams force fans to pay a lot of money to go to games. The NFL continues to mess with the game and make it less fan friendly from its rules to prices to oversaturation. Players have the right to demand whatever they want from teams. Why do I side with the team in this type of case? Because Bell is handicapping the team's chance at winning a title. As much as I love to watch certain guys, they come and go, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are there to watch every year. Anyone that jeopardizes a year at winning is not going to win me over.

He has not done what he said he would do. He said it would be a “repeat of last year” when he came in week 1 of the regular season.

All the blame for FO is unfounded. He was offered a contract worth over twice the then current highest paid RB.....on two separate occasions. He mentions guaranteed money, when he knows the organization doesn’t handle contracts that way. Yet they are one of the most consistent teams to honor the entire length of contracts signed via yearly bonus payments for cap managing. Let’s not forget the ridiculous tsk from an agent that compares LeVeon to Gurley, who hasn’t been suspended twice, or suffered two knee injuries and is 4-5 years younger.
