James' non-catch soon to be a catch?

No different then hitting a defenseless player on a catch. Defensive guys had to adjust to it. And no longer could make a play separating a player from the ball. Offensive players had to adjust to this stupid rule if you can avoid going to the ground do it. And if you cant you better hold the ball all the way thru

Yet every week fans whine about a defender for making a football hit and getting flagged for it.

Regarding James, he had to come back to the ball and his center of gravity left his base of support. Unless he had the ability to defy physics, he was going to go to the ground in some form or fashion. If he just secures the catch, he's stopped a yard short. Instead, he makes an effort play to go for the touchdown and the win and is penalized by a terrible rule.
 
Last night Gronk "caught" a ball' took two or three steps then fell out of bounds and completely lost tbe ball as he hit the ground... He didn't survive the ground. He caught it and fell down and lost the ball. Refs gave him the catch anyway.

He didnt have to come back to the ball...all he had had to do was keep moving right. He didnt have to go to the ground to make that catch..

And i agree he caught the ball.. ive always said that. We got ****** by the rule and replay. I just wish jesse had stayed up because he could have.

Looked like he was off balance when he caught it. Not sure he could have kept on his feet to move to the right. Also again Eli was held on the int that should have been first and goal. Even the event after Jesse James catch was bullshit.

You're only looking at from the angle most viewed.

No, he didn't have to come back for the ball, but he had to extend his body and reach for it.

It is debatable if he could have stayed up and ran it in.

At :40 you see it at a different angle. He reached quite a bit for the ball, and being so close to the goal line his momentum continued as he placed the ball across it.

Ive looked at it from alot of angles there are multiple on YouTube. And i could be underestimating the heat put on the pass by Ben. So maybe he didnt have time to fully turn to stay on his feet.

The issue to me is the refs interpret these rules differently from game to game...week to week. Nothing is consistent. To me that is the issue.

Exactly, take all that away from them like it used to be in the 90's, two feet (or a knee, elbow, butt, etc) with possession of the football equals a catch. That is something that can actually been seen by replay too. It takes all the judgement out of it.
