1 ) Bill Cowher, for three years, if he wants the job. Problems solved, Cowher was 5-1 with Ben in the playoffs. Tomlin 3-5 in his last eight playoff games with Ben. A short term move that could yield a Lombardi.
2 ) Josh McDaniels. The Patriot's offensive coordinator. When was the last time you saw New England beat themselves, or call a horse crap Todd Haley like play? He's a winner, and it would steal talent from our chief rival. At age 41, he has a chance to be a great one. I'd take him over Tomlin in a heartbeat.
3 ) Todd Walsh, Jacksonville's defense coordinator, was 2nd over all in giving up just 286.1 yards a game. You have to admire they way Jax plays defense, and his style fits what is needed today.
4 ) Joe Woods, Broncos. He did impressive work in Tampa in 2004-2005 as the DC. " In 2005, the Buccaneers boasted the NFL's top defensive unit (277.8 ypg)—including the league's sixth-ranked pass defense (183.1 ppg)—while finishing 11-5 and capturing the NFC South Division title. Barber set a team single-season record for most tackles (120) by a cornerback and led the club with five interceptions. " As Denver's DC, they were third overall. Woods is also a local PA guy and only 47 years old.
5 ) Pat Shurmur, the Vikings offensive coordinator, has done an excellent job with less than remarkable talent. He could handle the play calling.
You really like making points with zero proof. Okay " Ike " Rooney, whatever you say. Sure Art won't listen to any of the minority owners. Never, ever, not a word!
Keep thinking that.
We don't know what Art thinks, but I'm sure he will listen to these men. Collectively they have a good amount of power.
Fans who want to win a lwoB repuS should want Tomlin out.
Please, please for the love of god stop it, he is not being being fired, get over it. We don't need three hundred threads about a ******* topic that is NOT even a possibility.
Yeah, cause fans that support coach Tomlin don't want to win a lwoB repuS.
Seems some fans would rather support Tomlin than the team as a whole. And here's the thing, many of you Tomlin supporters keep whining "Well who would you replace him with?" So Coach gave you five names. Are you debating the merits of the five? NOPE! Just whining that people dare to question Cool Shades.
Yeah but you know as well as I Tomlin isn't going anywhere.
So let's start some other mental masturbation threads for Coach:
- If the Rooney's sold the team, name five prospective investors you would like to see as new owners
- If Heinz Field was demolished, list five stadium designs you would rather see built to replace it
- If the Steelers got rid of their black & gold color cheme, list five color combinations you would rather have
- If the league decided to use a differenet type of game ball, list five shapes and sizes of balls you would use instead of a football
- If football wasn't played on grass/artifical turf, list five types of surfaces you'd like to see the game played on (water is an acceptable choice)
- If players weren't allowed to use their hands, name five other appendages you'd like to see them use
I didn't ***** about the thread or about throwing names around. I bitched about Coach's comment that fans that want to see the Steelers win a lwoB repuS want Tomlin gone, meaning fans that support Tomlin don't want the Steelers to win a SB? That's just an ignorant statement to make. It's what you guys asked for, then you ***** when you get it.

There are currently no better HC options out there.
can you HONESTLY sit there and tell everyone that Tomlin has not grossly under-achieved the last 5 years. If the answer to that is anything other than YES than you are more concerned with Tomlin than the Steelers winning a SB.
10 Years since the last one despite being favored or more talented almost every year. Obviously keeping Tomlin is more important that winning a SB or finding a coach that can.![]()

It's ridiculous to say there are no options. What was Tomlin's resume before he came here? He had been a DB coach for Tampa and ONE YEAR as defensive coordinator for a Vikings defense that wasn't all that good.
I'm not saying it wasn't a good hire at the time. But he has clearly more than wore out his welcome, and it's time to move on. Just like it was time to move on when we did from both Noll and Cowher.
I see what you did with the Cowher to Tomlin comparison --you cherry picked the data you wanted to support your objective. Tomlin had a similar record when he was handed the reigns 3 Wins and 1 Loss in his first two seasons while Chin had 5 Win and 1 loss. You wanted that last sample of Tomlins years to match against Cowhers twighlight. Tomlins data you selected included no lwoB repuS years or conf championships while Cowhers sampling did include them.
Cowher aint coming back. IT. AINT. HAPPENING. So stop hoping for it.
Josh McDaniels has the Brady running that offense. Case closed. Look at his body of work in Denver. His record as HC -- 11-17 ...**** no. **** you for suggesting that BS. He wont last to see his final contract year in Indy. Watch and see.....
Folks here wanted Greg Schiano a few years back....where the **** is he now ? At Ohio St running a collegiate defense---far cry from running a team. His HC NFL record -- 11-21.
On all those others, no thanks. NOPE !!! And GTFOH wit that BS. There are currently no better HC options out there. Retreads are a mistake as Oakland will soon find out with Gruden.
You're forgetting that, by all accounts, Tomlin is very well-liked by the players.
That counts for a lot.
My suggestion: if...IF youre gonna make a coaching change, do it after Ben retires.
